God only knows. My guess would be to wherever he can get game time and his current salary. With so much BS at this time of the year it is almost impossible to know the truth. Agents say would will work best for them and their player. Media gives a guess. And we all have an opinion based on rumour. The facts will be out in the next few days.

All I am saying is North are in a strong position. The MFC wants him Guess who has the most leverage! North can set the conditions. Just because someone would like to move does not mean they won't tow the line and play well if it does not get done. Are you telling me that if Hale cannot leave north this year he will play like a dog next year and deflate his value to the point were no one wants him! Remember a couple of seasons back a Swans player ( cannot remember his name ) wanted to come back to Melbourne. The swans could not do a deal so he had to stay. Result same guy played in a Premiership.
-
There is another element to the Hale deal that we maybe forgetting. It is Hale that wants out. He is contracted for two more seasons so North can set the terms. If no one agrees he stays a North player till next year. Simple as that! So it is pretty much take it or leave it. The MFC does not have much leverage.

I do not think north are dreaming, if you want something you have to give something. It may also entail north paying part of Hales salary. I have said it a few times on Demonland, DB said two weeks ago that the MFC may use a high draft pick To get a Hale Type. They believe Hale is what we need, I will support that and see what happens. Also our list is full of kids we need some experience.

Filth players investigated for Sexual Assault
old dee replied to tarzan16's topic in Melbourne Demons
Well you do not have to be a rocket scientist to work that one out! -
Clint I am not sure how old you are but you are incorrect. Thats is exactly how it used to be in ARF, it has only been in recent times that players could come off and on. The world as you know it will not end! Sorry guys I jumped in too early looks like numerous people have pointed out the error of Clints ways!

I hope he stays I think a lot of Dees supporters under estimate his value. However I think you are kidding if think we would get better than a second round pick. He has two years at best left and not rated highly by most people. Hope we do not have to worry because he will resign soon( I hope )

And even! We have proven we can take them to the edge. 2011 is the year we beat them. TWICE!
-
You may well be right, I have wondered for the last month if the MFC were waiting on this decision to decide on PJ and Spencer. God forbid but it may yet keep Newton on our list.

AFL has announced new Rules. In future there will be three interchange players and one substitute player. If the predictions are true then the "second Ruckman" role may disappear in favour of a Forward / Ruckman. So the value of North's Hale and others of his type may go up considerably. He ( Hale )may now be a great buy. Whats the thoughts guys?

I remember reading that Scully was offered a three year deal at the time that trengove signed for three and knocked it back. No I do not think you are parnoid, I think he thought he could probably get a bigger deal at the end of 2011 or a big offer from GWS. I have a bad feeling about that refusal!

Interesting because it said in the HUN article that he had to miss a holiday to the USA that was planned with Sylvia and Maloney. It sounded like they are just going now. But I may be wrong with that.

Thanks Daisycutter I must have been too absorbed in the debate about our "away Jumper" and missed it. I would hate to lose Jones he is tough and never gives up. Just the type you need a couple of to win the big one. Hope he signs soon and gets his back fixed. Have you heard how long he will be out of action?
-
Someone will point out that I am wrong but I remember Martin doing his best work in the backline. I think he was a failure whenever we played him in the forward half. He was injured most of 2010 so I would like to see how his 2011 season pans out but I have to say I not expecting much. Love him to fire but there are big doubts in my mind.
-
Sunday Hun reported he was close to signing new deal. Also said he had cracked a vertebra in his back in round 22! Am I the only who did not know this? I knew he had hurt his back but a cracked vertebra!

Spot on old55, I have felt sorry for Maric for a long time as he has not ever been given a "go" IMO However the powers that be at the MFC do not seem to rate him very highly or he would have been played more, On the basis that he has played so few games and never put in one blinder at Casey I think you would struggle to get a fourth round pick for him. I believe the MFC should let him go to wherever he wants ( If he wants to leave )and take whatever is offered. The only alternative is to keep him and play him for 2- 3 games in a row during 2011 to see if he has any thing!
-
Not sure how you define "help us win a flag"! If he fills the hole we are looking for over the next 2-3 years while our young ruckman develop and we play in finals in 11/12 and make the GF in 13/14 then he has helped us win a GF! Clearly Spencer, Mckenzie and Gawn are some way off filling the role we need from a player in 2011. There does not appear too many other options to me. I think it boils down to Keep PJ or get Hale. Remember we gave away Jolley because we thought he was inferior to White and he has now played in two Premierships. Hale might be the same and who knows what a change of teams might do!
-
Wether he is worth it or not I have thought right from the start that is what it will take. Back two weeks ago DB said he might use a high draft pick on this type of player! So I think it is on.
-
Agree with you billy I cannot think of one blunder in the last few years. Even Meesen I believe was a reasonable idea. It does not look flash now but just when he started to show some promise an injury has end his career. 2011 will tell with 3-4 players that were drafted at reasonable high level over the 2007/8 period. There are no guarantees with young players! There are plenty of players who are drafted 1-30 that do not make it. The skill is picking the right ones, so far our FD has a great success rate.

Unfortunately the time you crave died at least 20 years ago. The game is now professional it actually surprises me how much loyality still exists. Would I change jobs for twice the salary and a 5 year contract? IN A HEART BEAT. What more can he do at Geelong A Brownlow and 2 flags in three years. Good luck Gary.
-
I have a soft spot for the guy as I do not think has been given a reasonable go. However my Gut tells me is not good enough and is lucky to have a contract in 2011! Needs a big 2011 or it is over
-
Romey Our head coach said on SEN two weeks ago that we need this type of player. I happen to think he is right but it does not matter what I think Dean bailey does see the need and said the MFC might surprise a few people by using a high draft pick to get one. I think it will happen the only doubt is this year or next!
-
He only played the last quarter that day and from memory the ball came to him once as we were desperately trying to keep it out of the scoring zone. With no other evidence it is difficult to believe that he has not been typecast!
-
If he could not get a game for Port this year you would have to think he is ordinary at best. No for mine, Rather keep PJ.
