A strange calm has come over me. Late yesterday I realised that we are indeed due for a very sad and depressing year. So I have given up all expectations for 2012. The only real thing to look forward to now is the trading period and Draft day. With a bottom or near bottom finish, comp draft picks, and talk of new jumper sponsors in September and October That should provide something to look forward to. Of course it is also helped by the fact that I will be out of town next week so I can largely ignore that result. The off OS for the next three games, in the good old USA you really have to look for AFL results to find any. So bliss has arrived no more MFC for 4 weeks, that sounds like heaven.

JJC you have got to be the greatest optimist that god has put breath into. We are a club with a very poor list. A playing team that appears to me has little idea how to put the game plan into action. ( i have no idea what it is either ) A team that has zero confidence We will give Richmond their first win for the season. It is as sure as the sun will come up tomorrow. BB I was positive about the FOJ sponsor It is now 7th April and not only don't we have a FOJ sponsor but we do not have a back one either. I hope you are right BB because this could easily be the beginning of the end for the MFC. We will not survive another large debt with free agency starting at the end of 2012 And no Jimmy to save us.

Absolutely correct Nasher now matter how hard you try you cannot pull up socks that you do not have on. We simply do not have the cattle, when it comes average skill level They are a top side and we are a bottom four side.

The lack of jumper sponsors says I believe a lot about the MFC that we should all absorb. We are viewed in the big bad world out there as a poor club. We have a small supporter base, a modest membership number and we are perennial losers. We get limited Free to air coverage and the only time we make the news are for negative reasons. eg. Jarrah, sacking coach after 186 loss, coach ( wrongly ) accused of Racism, Major sponsor is a nut case. The list goes on. What do we expect major companies to be falling over themselves to tie up with us. I was at the AGM in Early Feb and I heard the comments about the FOJ sponsor. At the time my gut told me they were spin. But I gave CS the benefit of the doubt. IMO my gut feel was correct and now I hear about "This situation raising other possibilities" More Spin, there is no one out there remotely interested. I believe that unless a miracle happens we will have no major sponsors in 2012. That will result in a large deficit at the end of 2012. We will once again have a large debt hanging over us.

But then again it seems the chiefs of the last ten years have not set the world on fire. I have heard a number of commentators ( x players ) and x coaches make similar comments to DC's On top of that is our wonderful performances over the last 4 years. I can find little to disagree with in the majority of cases. The simple facts are we have gone no where in the last four years, our higher draft picks have turned into average players so far. I find that with a large number of Dees supporters it is a case of shoot the messenger. We have a poor team simple as that

Biffen I am not sure that this commonly used statement is true. If I was the CEO would I want my large company associated with someone who is constantly in the news for the wrong reasons? Would I want my products associated with a company that is constantly a loser in its competition? Would I attach myself to a team that gets only a small amount of Free to air TV coverage? I am a winner or want to be why do I want to be associated with losers? I think that the experience of the last few years shows the above to be true. We struggled to get sponsors in the period of 2007 - 2010 and followed that up with a nutter who it turns out was not paying as required. The Sponsorship market is a tough one, the guys with the big money want Publicity of the right kind, they want to be associated with winners or at least the prospect of being a winner, a large supporter base is also important. If you had to choose right now would you pick Hawthorn, Collingwood, Richmond or Melbourne. Fairly easy choice that is why we have no jumper sponsor either front or back.

Late yesterday i had taken about all I could concerning AFL Football and the MFC. So I made myself a promise that I would Ignore anything to do with the AFL and the MFC for 24 hours. All was was going well till I picked up todays Hun and wham what a head line. But I held fast and did not read any of the story ( that was really hard ), I avoided radio by listening to a CD when out in the car. The result has been unexpected, I feel very calm and I have a new prospective on my liesure time. You know there are 1 billion people in China who do even know that the MFC exists. So I am now looking at the MFC in a new light. DO NOT OBSESS We are a football club that is towards the bottom of the competition in a number of areas. So what I have had a lot of fun times as well as a lot of crap. We may well be crap for the balance of this decade but i have been here before I know what to expect. I find it hard to believe we will win on saturday in Perth but who knows the margin might be less than I think. I get a lot of fun out of Demonland and the majority of you dees supporters out there even if as a football team we are very ordinary. I cannot change what happens to the MFC, if it fails to exist in 2020 so be it i might not exist either. The up side is enjoy life do not let the Bloody AFL get you down. Carn the Dees
