Does anyone know if Frawley has "bought in"?
-
This supposed to be a team game and not individuals. we are not playing tennis.

No such things as "incorrect". The game restarts after every goal. The nature of the game may change. Infinite variables enter into the game after every restart. One thing for sure despite his many misses he kicks goals that no one else could almost every game. The only miss that may have had a crucial bearing on the game was Gunston hitting the post late in the game that would have given them the lead if he got it. Then again anything could have happened after the restart. Inches and millimetres can be the difference between winners and losers. Just ask Stevie Milne.

I wish we had Buddy playing and missing for us every time. He's won more matches off his own boot than we have in the past 5 or 6 years. And a tricky wind was no help for his kicking style. Hawthorn didn't lose because of his misses but because they were brought back to earth by teams that play a defensive close checking scrappy style and counter attack effectively. Their passing game was nullified and consequently their powerhouse offensive game spluttered. Still they did very well. They beat Adelaide and were very close in the end against the Swans. They will have to be more adaptable next season.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DAVID RODAN
John Crow Batty replied to Demon Head's topic in Melbourne Demons
In Ports predicament, any player they don't want is likely finished. I like his style, goal smarts and strength. But as others have said, age and knees are a worry. If he was still any good Port would keep him. -
What does Mitch Morton's improvement say?

Sadly, 1%er's from our players have been very few this season. Perhaps he is drilling in the wrong places. -

A rat who lives in the granery grows strong, fat and sleek. Brother rat who lives in the sewer is destined to be a miserable scrawny creature. -

Well thanks for reading anyway. MacLardy, Schwab and Connolly and Gary Lyon's shadow could go for starters. I'd give Neeld, Craig and the rest of FD a chance. They have been given the poison chalice which masks any ability or lack of they may have. As for you. I know it would be hard to top this years disaster but if by any chance we are worse next year you will no doubt claim we are still on track and label posters as idiots who suggest things are not going so well as is your usual form. -

There you go, blaming the players again for poor club leadership and a footbal department that had to forgo playing genuine football from orders of above for more than two seasons. Blame the kids for having dropkick parents. BTW, can you name those other facets and identify which we should get rid of first? -

Seems to be the flavour of the month to blame the lack of ideal culture at the club squarely on to the players. Like blamiing kids for being useless and no good when the problem is almost always bad parenting. Those responsible for fostering ideal culture reside at the top levels of the club. The players are the easy way out for an intrenched incompetant administration and board to save their positions They created these problems by implementing a disastorus recruiting and development strategy and lost the respect and loyalty of the players. Who can blame them if they think this club sucks? These sins are not forgivable yet apologists say that these are just mistakes that won't happen again. Now we have those who have helped foster a pathethic culture of mediocrity trying to reinvent themselves as the new champions who will change it. The players are as much victims as is the soul of the club. "Stands for nothing" is quite an accurate statement for the current woes of this club. IMO the bones of our list and the Swans are not much different sans Adam Goodes. Shame on us big time. -
Neil Craig - we are in great hands

There were clearly issues in 2011 between Craig and some players. Adelaide were insipid and disintered for most of the season. Remember our demolition of them. Players like Taylor Walker and Ivan Maric who left were on the outer. Sanderson has got the team playing like a well drilled unit again with ethos and discipline in the blink of an eye. For us the the turbulence at the club appears to have gotten worse under the Neeld/Craig combination. We do not play remotely like an AFL standard team should. Only as ndividuals. Something is still very wrong here. -
Jobe Watson likely would not not have been drafted by anyone if he didn't have a famous football father. Was too slow and lacked basic skills. Could barely kick the ball when first recruited. The Bombers were very patient with him due to his pedigree and gave him time. But full credit to him for rising to the challenge and working bloody hard to make himself a real champion. Als congrats to Nathan Jones for being our best performer in the Brownlow. Another example of hard work and perseverance.

But born losers sadly.

I'd like to know how many people are employed in the front office. It has been mentioned on this forum that there are around 40 people there now. If true I an not sure. If so then serious questions need to be asked.

Simon Eishold remembers....
John Crow Batty replied to Sir Why You Little's topic in Melbourne Demons
The big difference was we missed relatively easy kicks at goal because of our inexperience in handling pressure in big games unlike Hawthorn. I was there behind the goals to where Hawthorn was kicking. Buckenara's shot was not easy at a tricky distance given the swirling wind and the enormous pressure yet he cooly popped it through. Eishold shat himself and Jackson got over excited. -
3 years. Does this mean he has "bought in" ?
-
Perhaps the most solid player we had after 200 when not injured. Rarely went missing and was always one of best even when the team was paying poorly.

Just another of the many inconsistencies I keep hearing about our club. On one hand we are are supposed to have a war chest ready to be cracked open to lure champions to our club. Then we need fund raisers to lure them. Now there are stories we are are still on poverty row on the development front. Still blazers look much more stylish on players than GPS units.

This coming from a team that has only had 2 top 10 draft picks since 2000. And we continue salivating at our next crop of top draft picks and still flounder at the bottom. Not just culture but organisation. We have been run by a bunch of F%$&wits for too long.

I don't believe the talk that Freo had a better list than us. For years they have been flaky, unfocused and soft. Not much different to us. This year hard and organised with an adaptable game plan. Lyon has gone in there and turned things around with not much change to their list. When the popular Harvey was sacked there was a lot of upset players there. It could have been a disaster but Lyon is a great coach and has been able to sell his message, implement winning strategies and culture and all the players have bought in. Something Neeld has not not done and I don't think he is capable of doing because as a communicator and tactician he just hasn't got it. If you can't sell your message how do you expect players to buy in? I am now of the opiinion that we made a huge mistake with Neeld but not surprising given the incompetant management at our club.
