  1. Some interesting posts today. We must be out of finals contention
  2. http://m.afl.com.au/news/2016-08-27/respect-back-how-paul-roos-transformed-melbourne.mobileapp Great read with this article giving another bit of insight of his tenure at the club. I will always be greatful to him in that I can now go to a game again hopeful of a win. After years of expecting a loss each week. Enjoy your retirement Roosy. Thanks again.
  3. Great news! Smart decision to give him an opportunity to show his worth next year after a full preseason. A lot of people mentioned Grimes and the death by a thousand cuts year he has had. But no one can say he wasn't given every chance. Same will now apply to Trenners. (Repost from the trade thread)

  5. We have had way way to many "losses that we have had to have" I am over them. They will stay with me forever as I burn in hell for eternity. I had the joy of a group of Carlton supported join me to rev me up with usual stuff that some opposition supports cannot resist doing, even to a Melbourne supporter. I said yes today your the better team, yes we are playing badly. Ect for half an hour. After the siren and when they had stopped their celebrations after 9 weeks of losing I said: You had your win again, but I will take Melbournes list over Carltons any day of the week! See you here next year.
  6. Stop playing dry weather football on wet days. Flicking it around killed us. We need to play a different style with a greasy ball. Time to talk about delistings.
  7. We managed the same thing against this mob last year. At least if we lose we snuffed out our own slight finals chance
  8. Don't know if this has been posted yet. http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/dion-prestia-will-sign-fiveyear-contract-at-richmond-if-gold-coast-and-tigers-agree-to-a-trade/news-story/0895aea6667e3742f357de409068d8b4
  9. Would you rather we won another wooden spoon that year? I will take the extremely disappointing GF appearance any day of the week ??
  10. Glad I am not a youngster having to decide what number goes on the back of my new MFC jumper 2017. Oliver. Incredible vision and lightning hands. Petracca. X factor + Brayshaw. Will be as hard at it as Viney.
  11. Thanks for posting this. What a mud heap! Reminded me of some of the players of the time. Was at the 64, GF as a boy. Hope I get to see another MFC, GF win before I am subbed out.
  12. Beware the smokey Vanders 37
  13. We took the momentum from 87 into 88 to play in a GF. MFC, dare to dream.
  14. If we had won all three I would have mentioned finals tickets. ??
  15. Be glued to the TV watching us win against Geelong. While still ruing the loss to Essendon ?
  16. Phew! We did what good teams do, toughed it out in the last and won ugly. Our Captain lifted, and we did much better in the clearances during the final term. Been overseas for weeks and I am looking forward to getting to a game next week. Go Dee's
  17. Please don't let them run over the top of us AGAIN!!! So many need to lift.
  18. Because the club managed to go into free fall and almost reached terminal velocity.
  19. Нет! Я не могу поверить , что это обсуждается . Шутки в сторону . ?
  20. Be bitterly dissapointed but not surprised.
  21. Had to turn the tv off as soon as it was over. I am so over listening to the commentators basically saying, Melbounre played well but they did what we always knew they would do, LOSE. Thought I would get thrown out of my hotel room account noise and language. Bring on next week.
  22. How the hell did we manage to lose that!!! Beyond belief. Losing with so many inside fifties, only Melbourne. TMac's howlers. Wagner has one every game, Inaccurate kicking for goal. You can blame the umpires but we lost it. I thought Brayshaw had a terrible game as well. Vince playing on and slipping over in the dying minutes when we still had time to win it. My biggest problem this season is I have hope. I really hope we can win one of these soon. However there was some great football. The effort was immense. It's how we need to play every week with swarming and tackling. Watts's smother in the last quarter was super courageous. We have the makings of a finals playing team. If T Mac thinks he is worth a bundle of money he should be made to watch his howlers this game with his eyes taped open for a day. Hogan, well sign up now, your best is great but not a game winner yet. Forgot you were play at times. Just so dissapointed. Time to repay the loyal supporters 2017.
  23. Oh dear! I left out 1987. What an amazing year for everyone MFC that was.
  24. He was always an extremely nice, humble person. Even in primary school you knew he would become a footballer. His skills even then we're amazing, jumping over packs, he was so quick and talented even when he was boy, I would always try to be at the other end during kick to kick as you had no chance of getting the ball otherwise. We were Murrumbeena boys, just aquantances, not close. Amazingly when he became the number one ticket holder, and I said what I said to him on the day, he remembered me and then made the chat about me, introducing me to Tom who I remembered from our Murrumbeena days. Robbie was a true champion on and off the field. I was going to write about him when he passed, but found it to difficult at the time. It's still hard now because to me, he was part of the MFC's fabric. Melbourne his entire life, and loyal always. That he and Jimmy are not here to see our upward progression is so unfair. Oh well.....?
  25. 1. Robbie Flower saying to me in primary school to wear our Melbourne jumpers to school the next day in 1964, the week before the GF. 2. Being at said GF. (thanks mum) 3. Proudly telling my mother that a skinny kid with glasses in his first senior game would become a club champion. (Her reaction at the time was a highlight in itself ?) 4. My mother saying to me the only reason she endured the late 70s and 80s watching the Demons was to watch Robbie play. (she went every week for over 40 years, she is 90 now and still a member and watches on Foxtel ) 5. 2000 elimination final come back against Carlton, my sister was worried I would have a heart attack. 6. Telling Robert Flower on the day he became the number one ticket holder, that no one deserved it more than him. (He took it over from RDB) 7. Having hope restored in that I can go to a game and we have a chance of winning.
