  1. It was a clear duck by Shuey, but it was a limp old effort of a tackle by Polec. Reminds me of Melksham’s effort last weekend.
  2. Absolutely - I get a lump in my throat whenever I watch that. The look on his face as he turns away says it all: utter relief and exhaustion. He really came to the club at the worst time and was let down by its administration, yet smiled through it all. I wish him all the best in whatever he goes into next - such a ripping young man.
  3. I thought the same, Daz - but could be for a number of reasons: 1. BNF assembled quickly and held during the day, after exit interviews - no atmosphere. 2. Boys genuinely p!ssed off after season fizzled out. 3. Something is up. Perty was doing his salesman act, but it looked like a place where [censored] had gone down moments before - maybe big clear out of coaching staff, as others have alluded to?
  4. I agree - just postulating. It will be interesting to hear the speeches tonight.
  5. Perhaps they will announce it at the BnF tonight?
  6. Absolute farce. Even if Maysie didn’t make the final team, he is clearly good enough for the squad. I call bullish!t
  7. Surely not?! That would be an extremely low act - I’m sceptical until I see a photo.
  8. Keep! Good, honest footballer, who works bloody hard.
  9. He left both clubs with a ragged list.
  10. Bump! Does anyone have any intel as to whether Burgess is staying?
  11. What are our options? TMac comes good and we keep him Ben Brown - good lead and overhead mark Jesse Hogan - get him Burgess fit and back amongst his mates Jeremy Cameron - expensive and question on value for money Jeremy Finlayson - v similar to Weideman Any others?
  12. Hopefully they recruit Saad - he did well today - that will free one of them to go up. But which one?
  13. @Wiseblood Should have had it sewn up by 3QT, we were that dominant in the first half. Also had a good 3Q, but failed to capitalise: you just knew the Bombers would come back. I actually didn’t see the two Fritsch goals at the end, as I had to go for a walk, before my living room/television/soul got destroyed. We showed some of our best, but also lacked the ruthlessness to put them away properly. Should have been going into the final quarter 8-10 goals clear. Melksham was terrible - unbelievable tackle “attempts” - if we make it through, Jackson must come in. Also Joel Smith pretty poor again. Petracca, Hunt, Salem, Langdon, Oliver, May, Pickett, Brown, Rivers very good. Fritsch actually made some good leads, but should have buried a couple more of his shots.
  14. Yes - fantastic news. The off-field have kept their part of the bargain, now for the footy boys to bring home the bacon!
  15. I agree with a need for on-field leadership: I think our young team suffered a couple of years ago, with the restrictions on the runner. Latterly, though, we have definitely missed Jordan Lewis. We’ve seen the massive difference that Steven May has brought to the club in both his footballing smarts and the ability to control and lead the backline. He has taken the likes of Rivers and Lockhart under his wing, to teach them properly. This will be absolutely invaluable for those two guys as they develop as footballers, but also pays dividends for the club, as those guys will assume the same mentoring role in years to come. Now imagine that we had someone to fill the same role in the midfield and forward line. I don’t think it needs to be a Premiership player (see Steven May) but it needs to be someone who can actively contribute to the team. Jordan Lewis, whilst fantastic for his leadership, was definitely in his twilight years when he came to us. I think we need guys who still have a couple of good years left in them. I also like Isaac Smith, but am not sure who else I’d go after.
  16. Fair enough, too - I only heard the Ch7 commentary: they loved it, every time he swung his arm at someone.
  17. Great stuff as usual, lads. Andy - your presenting style is spot on, allowing the conversation to flow easily between all contributors, while keeping to the agenda. Well done.
  18. It was quite bizarre the way the commentators were laughing about it, like he’s just a knockabout larrikin.
  19. Has it started yet? I can only access the Mark Jamar edition at the moment?
  20. https://www.sen.com.au/news/2020/09/12/im-super-proud-of-him-may-heaps-praise-on-dees-youngster/ I’m developing a serious man-crush on Steven May. Enormous pick up for our club.
  21. He doesn’t stop gut running - so committed to the contest, with repeated efforts: he is a beauty. And still only 23! He will be top 3 BNF with Petracca and May.
  22. I thought so, too. I have to admit, I’d written him off and, while he is still inconsistent, his best is very good. Tough competitor, who is a smart footballer and good field kick, I was glad to see him kick that goal from distance - something he couldn’t have done in 2018.
  23. What I liked most about last night, was the energy and enthusiasm of the young guys. Rivers is going to be a gun, as will Pickett, but I loved the work rate of Baker and Spargo. I had written them off as NQRs, but clearly they need to be given more time in the team. That type of win will be good for them. Looking at things in a rose-tinted kind of way, we POTENTIALLY have a great core of young talent coming through. As long as they can be coached well and nurtured correctly and included by the senior players, we will have a very good list emerging. Rivers mentioned how much May has been helping him - we could do with a Maysie on each of our lines to help the younger guys: something we haven’t had for years - gun, older players to encourage and lead by example.
