An old friend of mine (who I'm currently trying to reconnect with) is Drew Dimmick. a former Nine Sports cameraman (cricket mostly) who always seemed to be operating from all of the difficult spots such as the light towers - he's now freelance, but I'm pretty sure I've heard him referenced in the cricket recently, so I guess Nine still use his skills. He's another Swinburne lad from the early 70's... if I manage to reconnect, I'm happy to put him in contact Pates if you can see any point in that.

I think it's pretty safe to say that when you hit 0.27 you do not have any judgement at all... it's a shame his companions, assuming he was with others at the time and assuming they weren't as far gone, didn't stop him. That's not making an excuse for him by the way... just stating a pure and simple fact.

I get the feeling that she probably meant that the personal side of the issue is for the family to sort out and that the press and other "outsiders" should stay out of it (not interfere)... I would think she understands that the legal issues will have to be dealt with in the courts.

I agree on that count, but when people start saying they don't care because he walked out on the club, that irks me. LJ obviously has some major issues and I would say the pressure is becoming too much for him...a very sad state of affairs.

I'm getting excited as well, but hopefully this year, unlike the last two or three seasons, it is justified...with regards to the mids, I am really looking forward to seeing what Rodan brings to the party and what Byrnes can inject into the forward line. In addition to individuals, I am interested in how the playing group will respond to all of the negative off-field shenanigans; I'm hoping that they will take it upon themselves to win back a lot of the respect that the club will have lost (regardless of the outcome, mud always sticks). Roll on NAB Cup!

Correct...what I'm saying is that no one seems to be able to categorically prove that what we did is wrong and nor are they able to say it wasn't wrong...this is why I think he used the word "amnesty", because that means the AFL would just cease pursuing the matter without saying no-one did anything wrong; ie, they put it in the too hard basket.

I took that to mean that the AFL would cease from any and all further investigation regarding any club. Prior to saying that, the article had said that we had taken a lick of the same cream that every other tom cat had been at...so in effect, he did say that if what we had done was wrong, so had a number of other clubs done the wrong thing - but as there doesn't appear to be a universally accepted definition/understanding of what tanking is, then it would be an amnesty I suppose.
