?? I was pointing out that you were, in effect, reading too much into DM's words... I made no mention at all that we would use those excuses as part of our defence, but attempted to explain what his statement probably meant (you seemed to think he was intimating that there would be a hearing to attend).

He says "in any hearing..." - this is like saying "if there does happen to be a hearing...", so he is just covering all possibilities and is stating our position in regards to how the club would respond if they were required to.

That's all good as long as he wasn't thinking of "headhunters" in terms of potential employers seeking his services ;-)

I'm just looking at the NRL Allstars game and I think they have it right...it should be an indigenous allstars v AFL allstars... make it a real event.

After he came off in the last quarter, Eddie Betts stated that he would pick Aaron Davey as his best when asked by (I think it was) Chris Yarran.

And in fairness to the indigenous team, they had a number of their top line players withdraw (including Franklin and Goodes) and they did not have the benefit of playing and training together as a cohesive team unit. Swings and roundabouts, and in the end, I believe the deciding factor was the heat/humidity and the crowd support.

I see the current situation as being a little like the game of "Chickie Run" as portrayed in the classic "Rebel Without a Cause"... here we have the Fat Controller in his AFL-mobile (let's call him Buzz) staring down our Don M in his MFC-mobile (let's call him Jim)... they're both revving their engines madly, but all Buzz can think of is "what if I get my sleeve caught on the door handle and can't bail out?" (Jim was smart as he wore a navvy singlet). Is Buzz prepared to risk going over the edge, taking his AFL-mobile with him? Will Jim have a crisis of confidence and roll over to Buzz's strength in numbers at the last moment (all his mates are watching and waiting on the sidelines)?
