  1. And you have no idea what that corrective surgery set me back!!
  2. Great sequence of shots there triple6. Jones is deceptively quick in short bursts.
  3. I see the current situation as being a little like the game of "Chickie Run" as portrayed in the classic "Rebel Without a Cause"... here we have the Fat Controller in his AFL-mobile (let's call him Buzz) staring down our Don M in his MFC-mobile (let's call him Jim)... they're both revving their engines madly, but all Buzz can think of is "what if I get my sleeve caught on the door handle and can't bail out?" (Jim was smart as he wore a navvy singlet). Is Buzz prepared to risk going over the edge, taking his AFL-mobile with him? Will Jim have a crisis of confidence and roll over to Buzz's strength in numbers at the last moment (all his mates are watching and waiting on the sidelines)? Stay tuned for the next exciting installment...
  4. Just saw a tweet made by former Demonologist (and perhaps very occasional Demonlander) Graham Gaunt: "Paul Gardner just got on @2GB873 and mentioned that@melbournefc and another club north of Sydney are rumoured on the issue. #sourgrapes ?" Anyone else hear this?
  5. You mean 'ology :-) Funny how the "slander"/"conjecture" is allowed to go on unabated with regards to clubs, players and selected journos, yet CW is out of bounds.
  6. I actually find those comments a little sad, because I know how I would feel if it was the Dees in that position.
  7. I posted the following in the Essendon drugs related topic: "I really think that the AFL will want the Tanking issue out of the way now post haste so that they can concentrate all of their efforts on this latest debacle, and what better time to sweep our case under the carpet than now. They know that if they bring in a guilty finding against us, they will have a long and protracted court case to deal with... what do you think they would rather deal with, a few journos bad mouthing them over their relenting (I think you will find there would be a few clubs breathing heavy sighs of relief if the accusations are dismissed), or the serious business of cleaning up the drugs issue? The changes to the way in which priority picks are handled has virtually ensured tanking will no longer happen, so in a way that problem has already been solved, but the drugs issue is not going to disappear unless a genuinely concerted effort is made across the whole comp (and even that is no guarantee)."
  8. Hmmm...the only club to have had a longer wait between premierships than us is the Bulldogs...are you sure we are in good hands, or does this tell us there is no god?
  9. Slightly off topic, but still relating to the first round, would anyone know what has occurred on the Easter break in the past re training times. The reason I am asking is that I am thinking of bringing my young son down for this game and want him to be able to take him along to training so he can actually get a chance to meet some of his favourite players, but I need to book the flight soon as we are using points - on the rare occasions that they come up this way (Sydney) there are no real meet and greet opportunities, so a pre-game training session in Melbourne would be perfect. I did contact the club and they were unable to give me anything concrete, just that it could be either the 28th (Thursday - no good because can't afford that much accommodation) or the 30th (Saturday which would be perfect). So, if anyone here can help, great... if not, I guess we take our chances on it being the Saturday.
  10. I don't think they will eventuate... I really think that the AFL will want the Tanking issue out of the way now post haste so that they can concentrate all of their efforts on this latest debacle, and what better time to sweep our case under the carpet than now. The changes to the way in which priority picks are handled has virtually ensured tanking will no longer happen, so in a way that problem has already been solved, but the drugs issue is not going to disappear unless a genuinely concerted effort is made across the whole comp (and even that is no guarantee).
  11. Isn't it possible that the AFL might not want to have two major investigations and potentially protracted court cases on their plate? The drugs issue is, I would imagine, far more serious and potentially far more damaging to the AFL's brand, in which case, why would it not be possible that the Tanking case will be dismissed on the basis that the evidence was far too inconclusive (a much easier conclusion to reach than a case where drug abuse is involved). Then they can concentrate all of their efforts in sorting out a potentially much more far reaching problem (barrel of monkeys compared to our can of worms).
  12. Sorry, but I can't agree... sure, hate the club and hate their supporters, but show a little compassion for the players who could have ended up at any club but were unfortunate enough to wind up at Windy Hill. If they are found guilty and are to be severely punished, then I would like to see them permitted to stay in the competition but playing for no premiership points (in much the same way as Melbourne Storm were in the ARL). I really don't want to see the entire fixture turned on its head and byes reintroduced; and on top of that, I really don't want to see innocent players barred from participating in something they have been working towards for most of their young lives.
  13. Shouldn't that be "Gaye" times...I Hird it on the Grapeviney!
  14. Possibly, but I was citing another ABC article in which it stated: Mifsud apologises to Davey
  15. Are masking agents still an issue in sport and if so, could that be the cause of the investigation?
  16. Not at all... you are citing one game of football... I am saying it is ridiculous to condemn the man based on that single occasion (and I don't care if he ducked his head 10 times in that game)... you are really clutching at straws here mjt. Seems to me that there is maybe more to your dislike of Davey than you are saying here.
  17. I don't think so... Davey in accepting Mifsud's apology had said that there had clearly been a misunderstanding following his conversation with Mifsud.
  18. Care to show me where I have been repeatedly commenting in support of the CEO? I cannot even recall one single post.
  19. As I said, you are citing one occasion (game)...ridiculous. Looks like the joke is on you.
  20. Regardless of whether he goes or stays, it doesn't alter the fact that you have been like a broken record on this particular subject.
  21. Ok, you are citing one occasion??? I was correct.. ridiculous comment.
  22. This is a recording and nothing can go wron...go wron...go wron...go wrong
