GWS up 16-5 against the Dogs with a minute left in the first.
-
After watching Fremantle last night, who at times looked positively Melbourne-esque in their ball movement, I want to see a win. St Kilda were beaten at home by the Dockers. If we put in a four quarter effort and start tipping some key stats in our favour, a win is not out of the question. That said, without Clark, Petterd or Jurrah up front, you have to question where our goals will come from. With our best key defender out also (supposedly), it will make things extremely tough. Failing a win, I want to see AT LEAST the same level of effort as was seen against the Dogs. And if things don't go our way on the scoreboard, NO REDUCTION IN EFFORT. NO DROPPING OF HEADS. Apologies for the caps.

Did they give a reason for the omission?

Then you have guys like Patrick Smith who is just an oxygen thief.

I love Robbo, partly because I find it amazing how someone like him can get a gig as a football journalist for so long. He might be useless half the time, but he certainly doesn't hold back his opinion and now and then he comes up with a gem that everyone else was thinking but was too afraid to say. As long as there's only one Robbo I can live with it.

Agree with the consensus. Midfield, midfield, midfield..

I blame Jack Watts for this awkward moment.

Jack didn't just feature in the EnergyWatch ad. He wrote and directed it as well.

I'd like to say we'll sneak a win somewhere before GWS, but with the current gameplan (when in doubt, and even when not in doubt, kick it long to an outnumbered contest and hand over possession) combined with all the other dramas, it's extremely unlikely. GWS will probably be a close match and I doubt we'll beat GC.

Every week I look at our lineup on paper and think, "they can do the job", this week being no different. You could even mount a case that with Jurrah, Gysberts, Strauss etc to come back, we have good depth. Again, it's only on paper.

Fathead Ed called him "Trengrove" the other night. I wanted to reach through the screen and punch his purple face.

..for breaking up the Beatles. Why John insisted on having him sit in the studio with them I'll never know.

Exactly this. Jones is getting better each year IMO. So much so that I think the potential for him to become A Grade still remains. His game developing past this point partly hinges on having better players around him.

Is it? Matches aren't training drills. They're matches. For points. That members and supporters pay money to watch.
-
Yes. No. Can't believe I actually listened to the prat when he said Trent West was due for a breakout year. Supercoach poison.

Winless season is on the cards if we keep dishing that up. Early misses in front of goal really hurt us. Would've given us a decent lead and a bit of confidence would do this team the world of good.

He gets the odd chuckle out of me but by and large he is an arrogant [censored] whose become worse over time. Richo was undestandably getting annoyed with the way BT would treat him like an idiot when he was making legitimate observations.

Let's get Schoenmakers while we're at it. They'll both fit right in with their elite disposal. Come off it JM. Bateman?? I'd almost have Bruce back before that muppet.
-
He's silenced the doubters thus far in my view. Hopefully he can sustain not just his form but more importantly his attitude, which has been first class.

Ah, the Morton Mantra of the MFC supporter: "He might come good...he might come good..."

That is one sorry looking bench.. Couch and Petterd omitted again is extremely disappointing.

I don't think it's too early to tell that Grimes oozes leadership. He will be a long-term captain imo. Trengove, who knows.
-
I get what both of you are saying, but for me there has to be a line drawn somewhere, and for me that is losing to GWS on our home ground. My patience doesn't extend to that.

Are you saying the years of development that has gone into our list is on par with GWS? The only thing that brings up GWS's mean age is the likes of Power and Junior. They are mostly kids in their first year of AFL football. I will not excuse a loss to GWS on any terms.
