This is about culture within the playing group. It's festering now and will take a while to eliminate. We are years away from being the kind of team you and other supporters want to watch play the game. I'll say one thing. If we lose to GWS at home, I'll consider tossing it in.

To me it looks like he doesn't want to be here anymore.
-
Bartram??? I'm still staggered that we have such a spud in the leadership group. Obviously Neeld didn't wait to watch him kick a football before deciding he was leadership material. Magner, Watts, Trengove and Bail would be my guess.
-
Bottom line is we are seeing what happens when Beamer decides not to show up..which he has been doing all pre-season and again today. If he has thrown in the towel we are truly f...ed this season.
-
Just to be clear, you didn't watch the entire interview but still went ahead and chose a snippet from the very beginning as a basis to slam Neeld. Not being satisfied, you then miss the very fundamental point Neeld was making. Quality thread.

Has to be said that as much as I love Trenners, having the youngest captain in history leading this group right now is madness. Absolute madness. I'm surprised it doesn't get raised more often. In saying that, I acknowledge our options are thin to the bone. I'm willing to put this game behind and treat it like a nightmare to be forgotten about, but sooner or later we may have to face up to the fact that about half this playing group just aren't going to cut it at this level. Another f...ing rebuild.

Honestly, I'd give him a chance next week on the off chance he was struggling to get his head in the right space today. If he produces the same, drop him to Casey for 3-4 weeks minimum.
-
Good post. Those possession stats don't lie and mirror what we saw in the pre-season. The gameplan has a very Auskick feel about it. If it doesn't change in a hurry we are going to get mauled every single week.
-
I am actually worried about where we go from here as a club. Never felt this deeply concerned. Wholsesale changes need to made for next week to send out a message that this kind of performance is in no way, shape or form acceptable. Plus if we persist with this gameplan we are sealing our fate to be bottom 3 this season. Mark this one down as Wake Up Call #57 from the past 4 years.

13 disposals at 46% efficiency today. He's pissing all over his career in a different way if he keeps that up.
-
6. Magner - a first gamer...no words for this. 5. Trengove 4. Martin 3. Jones 2. Bail 1. Watts POTY. What a joke.
-
Haven't you heard? That's the new gameplan.
-
This season is going to be a circus with our senior players running around with huge chips on their shoulders. Today of all days was when they needed to step up, and they point blank refused.
-
Geeze we could use a guy like the hairy cat right now. Someone with a bit of ticker...and skill.
-
Imagine how we'd go without Jimmy Magner? It would've been even more humiliating. Being a supporter of this club is like being repeatedly kicked in the ribs after the fight is over.
-
17th for mine. Some rebuild.
-
I'd love to believe that. I really would. My gut however is saying that this is the first evidence of senior players miffed over the leadership spill. They've never been this poor. Ever. Combine that with a bizarrely one-dimensional gameplan, a sub-standard midfield with some ordinary drafting here and there, and you have your result.
-
Yeah I'm gutted by this. Never felt lower.
-
You know something, it really feels like it right now.
-
I can't stomach this rubbish. Disgusting. Constant bombing it forward. Every. Single. Time. Why is Clint Bartram a leader?
-
Ugly, ugly footy. Almost unwatchable.
-
Yeah seriously, someone needs to lighten up a tad.

To be frank, I don't like the sentiment behind the OP. I'm not a big fan of manufacturing these sorts of things. They either evolve naturally or they don't. We've seen the rousing success of the bugler, the raising of the flag etc. I'm not exactly sure what this statement even means: "I have thought for a long time that there is nothing that defines us as a supporter base. We are not an army nor do we have strength in numbers like others." Is the "army and "strength in numbers" a reference to Collingwood? I don't see how the number of members defines that member base, and the whole "army" concept is wanky promotional gimmick, hardly a means by which they are defined. The MFC is defined by its history, and the supporters by their appreciation and pride in that history. We are defined by surviving the tough times of the last decade and emerging out the other side with the dawn of an exciting future ahead of us. We are fighters. Other clubs love kicking us whilst we're down, which we have been for a long time, but we're still here and always will be. We're like the Tigers in that respect, only less feral. We commemorate Jimmy with performances on the field and supporting the boys in that pursuit. We don't need a cheesy anthem in order to do that.

Looked genuinely scared to kick for goal last night. Had a few chances which were shirked. Right decision was made and frankly seeing Miller and Maric running around for the Tiggers has me believing we are a step ahead. Their list is the most uneven in the competition. Backline is horrendous.

It's the "opening them up" that has me concerned this season. Who are going to be our elite ball users moving into the next few years? Was going to be Morton/Gysberts but we know where that sits at present. The names mentioned need to take some big steps forward if it is to be them.
