Wasn't he also leading possession winner in his second game with 27? He earned 2 Rising Star noms and has played 19 games total. Amazed he is being so readily dismissed.
-
Pick 24 that is, not Prismall. The latter would be a travesty.

It looks a good deal but this one will bite. Gysberts will be a star.

It's also worth noting that he got limited opportunities last year under Primus, which many were questioning given he would've surely been in Ports best 22. David Parkin raised it every second week. So he could be really gunning for a fresh start. -

It's a gamble, then again so are Dawes and Byrnes, but this is a bigger one considering the other two have come from premiership environments. I can see him potentially being handy in a foward crumbing role but I don't think he has the tank or backward running to play in the midfield. He just goes missing for too long in games and I'm sick to death of those kind of players. His best is very, very good, but so is Davey's. Personally I think he's past it but perhaps Neeld sees him as still having value in a specific role. -
I'll be watching the game with only one eye open if Dunn, Morton and Bartram are on the team sheet.

Yes, all young draftees are deemed to have potential, but I'd argue potential is a dynamic beast. In the first few months/years of a player's career, the potential shown can increase or it can wane. Case in point would be Petterd. Everyone thought he had bucketloads of potential after his breakout match against the Pies, but that belief in him has greatly diminished ever since. In this sense I don't find it to be a meaningless tag, but I take your point on its flimsy connection with reality.

I'll get 22 out of the way early then. 22 minimum. Over to you Mark.

lol...if we lose an opening match against Port at the G...oh boy. Wowee!

I had to throw out my Air Jurrah shirt the other day. Sucks. I quite liked that shirt.

Watched the Gold Coast match yesterday, and if someone told you that his accurate kicking was his strength, you'd be forgiven for thinking they were pulling your leg. He was all over the place, under no pressure. I love his aggression but as others have said, he just doesnt see enough of the ball. His spot is far from cemented and some major improvements next year are needed. We can no longer carry tryers. We need doers.

hehe..entertaining. I just watched footage of River's press conference in his Geelong polo shirt. Just weird and wrong. I think there's some serious overestimation of Watts' ability as a backman in this thread. It's all rosy when he's playing loose, but there'll be alot more responsibility placed upon him now. The days of him getting monstered in the one-on-one contests better disappear quick smart.

Next year we could have Howe, Watts and Wines. Just missing Where and Who.
-
Pretty gutted to be honest. Wish Riv good luck because he's been a tremendous servant but I'd like to see us make him regret the decision.
-
Absolutely nobody fears us at this point in time, let's get real. But I agree with the overall sentiment regarding how refreshing it is to see the club being aggressive in the trade period and I think the club is preparing well for its climb back up the ladder. I'm just excited to finally see us playing with a forward line. A real, bona fide forward line, with athletic talls, crumbing smalls, who woulda thunk it? I'll however be keeping a lid on cries of "we're gonna make the 8!!" until actually watching how the new team gels. Bring on 2013.

I laughed.

Yep, general consensus is we've been shafted. I'm pretty happy with it personally, and I think a bit of expectation on his shoulders won't do him any harm at all. He's proven he is capable of producing. Under Neeld and coupled with Clark, I think he will. -
I would drink (more) heavily if I was an umpire. They must cringe every time Adrian Anderson has another bright idea.
-
Or trolololy.

NicNat will also dominate. They have nullified what is arguably his greatest weakness. RR will be happy.

1. Any forceful contact below the knees of an opponent will result in a free kick. 2. The ball will be thrown up at stoppages around the ground. It shall only be bounced to start quarters and after goals. 3. Ruckmen may not make any contact until after the ball has left the umpire's hands (the theory being that this will reduce congestion and help with hit outs to advantage, increasing clearance rates). They can't help themselves. I suppose the Rules Commission needs a reason to exist so they are going about changing the game each year until it becomes damn near unrecognisable. Facebook fella says that Melbourne are the ones who have made the offer to "Collyingwood", with "Pettard" on the table. Sounds reputable to me. -

If Petterd kicks the winning goal against us on QB, I will have to do something reckless. -
Anyone who says this is a pass seriously needs their head read. If we can get him, GET him.
