  1. In fairness, I haven't seen reaction to or coverage of a tribunal decision anywhere near this scale before. But I share your scepticism about whether a Hawthorn or Collingwood player would get done for this. Hodge didn't, in fact, when he broke Murphy's jaw not that long ago. I'm still stunned that Deledio got off scot free after deliberately elbowing someone in the head, whilst Viney gets for 2 weeks for this. It surely can't be that difficult to find three people with an ability to apply precedent, logic, and good old common sense.
  2. Might be able to risk the banner. Just have to make sure they use the crepe paper that falls apart easily. We don't want a massacre on our hands.
  3. I'll get onto it.
  4. What a buffoon. "It's just the way it is." Yes Damian, and that is the point. It shouldn't be that way. Injury = automatic suspension, regardless of the nature of the act, is WRONG. Any idiot can see that.
  5. They wanted to leave no stone unturned to ensure the decision was as irrational as possible.
  6. Black netball bibs with "DON'T FORGET TO PIROUETTE" on the front and back.
  7. Having slept on it, I'm leaning towards the club appealing this. We don't have to just meekly accept this direction the AFL wants to take our game. It is to defend Viney, but there are greater things at stake. As Ron rightly pointed out, this is bizarrely the best publicity the club has had in a while. It now needs to be followed through.

Sweet. Hadn't updated for some reason.

Called for it in the Banner thread. It just looks weird not having him. Get the big lug up there.
  10. Let's hope something good comes out of it. I'm still in shock at such a patently idiotic decision. A "piroette"? It's like they are purposely just taking the [censored]. A disgraceful day for the game of Australian rules football.
  11. There is a glaring omission in the Banner, and his name is Chris Dawes. If Jones is the heart, Dawes is the lungs. Or at least a vital organ of some kind. Out: Trenners (inj) In: Dawes
  12. If he goes it will be for the injury sustained and that alone, which you have to say would be a sad turning point in the code. Do they still want it to be a contact sport or don't they?
  13. Outstanding jane. Good on you.
  14. No, this is fair. Langdon was deemed BOG so just quoting his number of possessions isn't doing it justice. It is also reward for a number of solid weeks. JKH's time will come.
  15. He sounded very resolute about challenging it. Didn't want to expand too much at the risk of jeopardising the process but agreed that Viney didn't really have a choice but to brace himself for impact. The panel all agreed it should be dismissed on that basis, as well as the fact it wasn't high and it can't be concluded that his bump caused the broken jaw. It was an opinion that was seconded On the Couch. As to the win, he spoke highly about the level of effort across the team. Dawesy was also again the hot topic. Has rightly received a huge amount of praise in the media this week.
  16. *audible groan* "That's so unlike Sloaney.." Riccutio could've at least tried to mask his bias. A vague attempt would've been nice.
  17. I would've loved it so much had he kicked that goal from the forward pocket after the big don't argue. Spoilsport boundary ump.
  18. I can't recall him making a single bad decision on the weekend. He legitimately made us a much better side with ball in hand.
  19. For now, he's in our best 22, yes. Best 10 off the top of my head are N Jones, Tyson, Dawes, Vince, Frawley, Viney, Garland, Howe, Cross, Grimes. If JKH plays like that again next week I'll be tempted to slot him into my top ten. He was sublime.
  20. You don't speak ill of Matt Jones if Webber is around. His kicking still lets him down. 62% on the weekend, so assuming his handballs were effective, less than half his kicks hit a target. He is one of a select group whose poor kicking under pressure stands out in a developing team - Terlich, T Mac, M Jones, Grimes (improving). JKH already looks superior. That is the calibre of player we need in the midfield we are assembling if we're being genuine. He won't be dropped and nor should he be, but he wouldn't get within cooee of selection at teams like Port or Hawthorn.
  21. I like Chipper, and I won't hold a huge grudge if he leaves, but he will look a little silly if he leaves on the back of a season of 6-7 wins after saying it was about seeing what direction the club was moving in. Good old Blind Freddy can see the club is now moving in the right direction, and he will still be around by the time it is playing finals and making a challenge. I really hope he stays, but I'm guessing Hawthorn have already shown him the paperwork.
  22. Well said.
  23. Not sure if anyone else caught him on "Ed & Derm's Big Week in Footy" tonight. Probably not if you'd rather do just about anything than watch "Ed & Derm's Big Week in Footy". Spoke well. Talked very highly of Dawes in particular and his leadership at the club. Bit of a light hearted chat about his tats etc. He's got respect, don't worry about that. As the team increases in profile, so will Jonesy.
  24. I wouldn't mind seeing Clisby given his chance. I know Terlich is growing a fanbase on here but his kicking is very ordinary to put it mildly, and by the sounds Clisby has put his hand up for a number of weeks. Roos sticking fat is paying off, but likewise you'd like to see reward for performances in the twos. Garland is the other more obvious in for Georgiou, who might be looking at a rest coming up. Byrnes did enough to keep his spot. Out: Georgiou, Terlich In: Garland, Clisby
  25. Was apparently getting bronx cheers in the final quarter when he got a touch.
