Ignore the AFL ratings altogether. They are a joke. As others have said its nice to see people waking up to his quality. He has been admired by opposition fans for the last few years, but more as an honest battler. Now he is getting the plaudits as a genuine A grader. If he can keep it up he will be making a push for AA which would be fantastic recognition. At the stage he's definitely making the squad.

Can we add a bloody question mark to the thread title? I saw this as an announcement. As for Chip, talk about an overreaction. He has a poor game so he no longer cares about the club and/or he must be dropped? I'm glad Roosy is in charge.
-
It's amazing to think we genuinely could be 5 and 2. That would place us 5th and everyone here, myself included, would be talking the F word.
-
I actually think last week was a real turning point. I saw an element of fight against Sydney that looked different and felt different.
-
He was better today. That's the minimum you would want from Jack. Seemed risky to keep him on but fair play to him for working through it.
-
Not to mention a bloke called Jimmy Toumpas.
-
Agreed. There was a looooooong period in that match where we simply couldn't buy a goal and it took a pretty soft free to Dawesy to break the drought. There is still a mountain of work ahead but these are very positive steps in the right direction in terms of structure and effort.
-
Saw that, which makes his effort more admirable. He's a ripper.

Roos' trust in the playing group and vice versa
P-man replied to wisedog's topic in Melbourne Demons
100%. This is a team that looks like it is on the same page, and some cool heads at the selection table are certainly contributing towards that. -
A toast to Jonesy as well. For whatever reason he just couldn't get his hands on it, so he responds by laying the most tackles on the ground and kicking a crucial goal.

This is tough. 6. Dawes - bottom line is we don't win that game without him. 5. Vince - 26 touches, 9 clearances, 6 tackles. Clearly wanted to make a statement. 4. Viney - future captain written all over him. The way he attacks the contest is amazing and inspiring. 3. Jamar - would've silenced a few doubters today. Made Jacobs look very second rate at times. 2. Tyson - could be higher up but Vince and Viney that little bit better. 1. JKH - so composed and still so young. Showing why he was a captain as a junior. Jetta very unlucky. Was excellent on Betts who usually has a field day.
-
A truly great win. Gutsy as hell. Showing things we haven't seen in a Melbourne side for a very long time. Dawes was immense. Will surely romp in the votes this week.

You know it's a big day when the server crashes.

Is Dom!!
-
Dunn is having a mare.
-
Seriously though, I love Chris Dawes.
-
Deadset playing two teams right now - crows and maggots.
-
All off the back of yet another ridiculous HTB decision.
-
Dawesy I love you
-
lol..Crows fans calling the ump a [censored]. He's the one that has kept you in it!

I hate Dwayne Russell so much. Anyone would think we were playing Hawthorn the way he is bleating on about how amazing this is.
-
Now the test. Don't lose focus. Just keep going and protect this lead.

You've been critical of him this week as well, Ronald. What Bernie says is fair enough, but in response I would say it's all very well that his laconic playing style is what draws attention, but it is the things he is doing when he DOESN'T have the ball that are equally or more damning. The reluctance to put his head over the ball, to tackle and chase, to the equal extent of his other teammates. Supporters can see his continual reluctance for years to do these things and that is why he cops heat. Pendlebury makes time stand still with the ball in hand as well, but it is what he does when the ball is in dispute that makes him a great player. I'd also be lying if I said I didn't hope the younger players look up to Nate Jones more than they do Jack Watts. Watts gets criticism because people see the talent not being fulfilled and those keeping faith aren't being repaid. I said he would lift last week and he went backwards, so this week I just hope he comes out on par.

This is the last post I will make on this subject. In all the time I've been on Demonland, which is maybe a few years, threads have turned to banter. Some of it, perhaps even alot of it, not that funny. It happens frequently and irrespective of the topic. The owner(s) chose to take a somewhat loose approach to moderation. It's their site, thus it is their decision. It annoyed me initially, but I've come to accept that it is part and parcel with Demonland. If you want to enjoy the excellent insights of posters on here such as rpfc, AxisofBob, the master, stevejordan, and yes, even saty, you have to accept that there is another side to the site that is essentially talking crap. If you can't balance the two, then there is no gun to your head to come here. Either you can or you can't. If you can't, your complaining about it just adds to the very problem that you are complaining about. We're an odd bunch. We support Melbourne ffs. Of course we're an odd bunch. I don't think we need to sterilise the place too much in the name of talking footy. I apologise for going off track again in a thread dedicated to a very exciting young prospect at the Dees, but that's my take on it and I'll leave it there.
