Agree for the most part. Favourable on M Jones. For me he slips down to "Potential AFL Calibre" at best, and at his age I'd say that's perilously close to not good enough. Strauss, Blease and maybe Tapscott are hanging on by the skin of their teeth in the "More Info Required" category. Have suffered injuries, poor development etc. Need at least the rest of the season but preferably the next as well to determine where they absolutely sit in the scheme of things. Grimes for me has been a major disappointment and has slipped to being on the periphery. Whether Jones is elite or A grade isn't a critical issue for this exercise. He's top of the pile and one of the top 10-20 mids in the league, that's enough. It does demonstrate the extent of work remaining. Another couple of seasons away from having what could be deemed a healthy list.

Cause that hasn't been tried before.. Have to accept Watts for what he is. A skilled player with as much appetite for the hard stuff as a shy kitten. When others are getting their hands dirty, he can excel. When the chips are down, he's near on useless. Roosy is happy with his output, for some reason, so in Roos I trust.
-
Overreaching dd. I share your frustration with Watts, believe me, but canning him on that few seconds of footage is a step too far.

Those numbers are heartening, even if it was against a side that has decided to fold. A loss would've been a disaster, so they avoided that and hopefully grabbed some confidence out of it. Will be surprised if at least two inclusions aren't made from this lot. Wouldn't complain if it was three or four.

St Kilda champion Lenny Hayes announces retirement

NOT LENNY!!!!!! -
Would be craziness to drop Tapscott after one game. Even the cream struggle in their first game back after a long absence. He needs a couple of bites at it. Blease seems a certainty to come in on the back of Roos's comments prior to the weekend. With 26 touches and 2 goals, he will surely play. JKH to also come in to provide some creativity going forward. In : Blease, JKH Out: Terlich, M Jones Michie one more week away.

Okay lads and ladies, let's get some positive vibes going. With 6 games to go, what is your bold prediction for the remainder of the season? It can be anything relating to any player, coach, staff, tuckshop lady, or the team as a whole. (safe predictions placed in bold text will not be accepted) I'll kick it off with Strauss to come into the team at the tail end of the season and shock everyone with a standout performance from the back half.

Agreed. I don't want to see Dunn going forward again. The couple of times it's been tried this season he's provided nothing. He's settled into his role in the backline and he's damn good at it. Just leave him there.

I've seen enough from you I think. Welcome to my ignore list.
-
I respect your opinion and admit I may be sensitive to having the player who has kept me believing in the club for the past three years being labelled selfish, but I stand by my comments.
-
I think we understand it's going to take a while to fix this mess. There is some improvement, albeit having fallen away in the last few weeks. But the efforts against Richmond and Carlton in particular were better than anything seen under Neeld. The trajectory is upward, it's just easy to forget with how poorly the side has played recently which could be as much to do with players running out of legs as anything else. Tyson is a perfect example of that.

Memo Peter Jackson - Do something about this list
P-man replied to Soidee's topic in Melbourne Demons
You did kinda leave yourself open in calling for the CEO to improve the list. -
I'll add that I'll concede he didn't have a great game, but no-one did. Viney and Riley had a good game, and those two were the only ones truly deserving of votes. But when you have six players to choose out of a rabble, Jones gets a nod and I don't think that's outrageous.
-
You made the comment that it "proved how big a gap there is between him and the elite", which is a general statement going beyond his game yesterday, and it's wrong. The gap isn't as great as you suggest, and he's proven that on numerous occasions. Jones clearly suffered from the same condition as everyone else in the side yesterday - a lack of faith in his teammates. With due cause I would suggest. His decisions were found wanting, but I'm more than happy for him to take on the responsibility himself when more often than not it has worked for him. Saying it's unthinkable that the man with the most touches and most tackles could get votes is crazy enough, but to call him "selfish" is criminally unfair on a player who gives his absolute all for this club, indeed has carried it on his shoulders for a long time, and nothing you can say will make me agree to it.
-
Sorry but this is nonsense. He's previously managed to silence Murphy and Cotchin whilst being damaging going the other way. One quarter where Selwood got off the chain doesn't cancel out everything else he's done. You're canning the bloke with the most tackles on the ground as putting in a "selfish display". Get real. He may be overambitious at times, probably because he's our best player and captain. That is very different to selfishness.

Jack Riewoldt is one of the absolute last players I want walking into a club trying to build a culture.

Roos hit the nail on the head when talking about a lack of team offense and players stopping to have a rest once the ball was in our hands Team offense just seems a foreign concept as it has for several years. It seems to be all about getting the ball out of congestion to a free man and then hitting the pause button while the sod with the ball in his hands looks up and sees a bunch of players standing still. He then eventually kicks it to an outnumbered contest and the ball quickly comes back the other way.

For the wrist slashers, Macrae, the guy taken two picks after Toumpas, is up to 38 possessions and a goal against the Suns.
-
The Matt Jones who turns 27 this year?
-
The hope is in these youngsters: Viney, Hogan, Tyson, JKH, Salem, Kent. They've all shown something. Another couple of drafts needed to add to this bunch,
-
I was bored within 10 minutes. This brand that Roos is instilling, whilst in its early stages of development, is absolutely dire in terms of entertainment.
-
Most tackles. Most touches. At the bottom of every pack. Be serious, please.
