  1. Can seriously play this kid. Go get him Freo. He's not a bad consolation prize.
  2. Was averaging 16 disposals last year but has gone backwards this season perhaps through less opportunity. Knows how to take a grab. Over 17 games in 2013 he averaged 7.5 marks, ranked 7th in the league. Former top ten pick, so there's some talent there somewhere. I wouldn't be immediately dismissive if it involved a swap of players.
  3. Empathise with this to a degree. I hated the thought of Trenners in a Richmond jumper. Still do in fact and I hope to never see it. Less so with Watts. Partly because I think a move would do him a lot of good, but also because the way he plays the game just frustrates the hell out of me and I can't see it being remedied. Great representative off the field though. Quite possibly the best you could ever hope for. It's a shame the way it's panned out. But we wait and see what the club decides. If they continue backing him in, I trust their judgement.
  4. That Lions win was in the bottom handful of performances for the year. We were god awful. We just happened to be playing an even worse side at arguably their lowest ebb. I've never taken less pleasure from a win. It wasn't ugly. It was grotesque. But it's still four points. Bank it and put the tape in the bin.
  5. Four goals against the Lions including I think a couple of Joe the gooses #superstar
  6. 2016 lineup while I'm in a positive frame of mind. B: Frost Dunn Jetta HB: Salem McDonald White C: Stretch Jones Vince HF: Kent Hogan Petracca F: Garlett Dawes Harmes R: Gawn Viney Tyson I: Brayshaw Trengove vandenBerg Michie E: Lumumba Garland Neal-Bullen Kennedy-Harris Newton Pedersen King (Unknown: Howe, Watts, Grimes, Toumpas) Midfield depth still an issue so trading in another quality mid will help a great deal, but a hell of a lot to get excited over about that side regardless.
  7. Fantastic analogy. And yeah, Sandy's insistence on pronouncing it "Toump-ass" is just weird. I'm not sure why he keeps doing it.
  8. Vince not making the squad is a joke, but Armitage not even making the squad? lol I should stop being surprised at the AA selections. Will just have to wait until we're playing finals to have a Demon selected, and even then it will be touch and go.
  9. It honestly staggers me that someone could complain about a slap on the wrist fine that the AFL paid for themselves. It's done. It's over. Finished. We're a new club. Freo and North are about to compete for finals and placing themselves in the best position to compete in September. It's quite a different scenario and I have no problem with it.
  10. Which it is almost impossible seeing Berger receive. Especially if it's at Sydney who have a couple of well paid players as it is.
  11. Come off it. Roos had gotten off pretty much scot free until the end of the season with losses to Essendon, Saints and Carlton. CARLTON ffs. The heat started to come in earnest as it should have. So not sure where this "copped it left, right and centre" impression has come from. Secondly, the limited criticism he has copped at various times has been as a result of him being on excess of $1m a year, which can't be said about the other coaches you've named. Big things are expected from the AFL in righting this ship, and if it weren't for the GWS game, you and others would be singing a different tune. That game salvaged a lot in terms of how the season and Roos' tenure to date can be viewed. Most here considered the season as a failure prior to the weekend. But it's an upward trajectory and keeping a healthy list should mean 10-12 wins next season as a minimum. Also, the Dogs forward line? Before the season started, few would've taken their forward line over ours.
  12. Lam, your point has merit but I think only some minor tweaking is needed. Let's not forget that the clubs in question, Brisbane, Carlton and Melbourne, are or have been all struggling clubs themselves. You can't have a situation where the bottom clubs are nothing but feeder clubs that receive peanuts for their free agents who command high salaries on the open market. Set the band 1 compo to begin after Pick 5. It has slightly less stench to it if these players aren't commanding picks 2, 3 & 4. Berger for a pick 4 especially, if that is what unfolds, is a little bit nuts.
  13. I think this is true to a large degree. The factors taken into account are reasonable and as much as Dogs fans complain about the Frawley and Scully compo compared to what they received for Ward, they can't dispute their salaries and our ladder position at the time. That said, pick 3 still seems high if I take off my Demon supporter hat, and I've no doubt the AFL used the most favourable means of calculating it in lieu of a PP.
  14. I hoped that Howe would take a big stride forward this season but it hasn't happened. I still believe he is most dangerous as a forward. Being the single best aerialist in the game is a weapon that is under utilised in the backline in my humble view. If he moves to another club, I fully expect to see him played predominantly as a forward and having a greater impact than he has in recent seasons where he has been marginally above serviceable.
  15. Sadly unsurprising. Incidents like this just confirm the lack of interest that the average commentator takes in the MFC and its playing list. Brad Johnson is generally an exception to that rule so surprising that he didn't correct Lynch, but they don't like to make a habit of exposing each other's lack of knowledge, hence why Dwayne mostly gets away with constantly talking [censored]. Especially about our club. I hope the colossal peanut enjoyed commentating a Melbourne win. No doubt he had that hint of surprise in his voice for every Melbourne passage of play. Like he's amazed they're making a game of it.
  16. Awesome.
  17. Glad to hear it DL. Sussing out the men's group sounds a good idea, when you're ready. Hopefully next season brings a bit more joy for all of us
  18. Cripps is quite clearly better than "dime a dozen" and would be a very worthy winner. If Hogan doesn't win it then you'd have to ask when if ever a KPF will win the award, but Cripps has still had an outstanding year and will go on to become an elite midfielder for Carlton to build around.
  19. What would you consider value/accept in terms of draft pick?
  20. Of all the things to pick out about Billy the kid, picking on his foot skills is a bit odd. He and Salem are a breath of fresh air in that department.
  21. I'm in Fiji so was only able to follow via here (when it was up) and the live stats. Pumped at the outcome and the highlights I've watched. Harmes' contested marking. Brayshaw's delivery to the forwards. Boy oh boy. Positives galore. Question on my boy Viv for those who watched. Did he fade in the latter half again or did he put in a four quarter performance? Cheers. Go you Demons.
  22. Bernie somewhat comfortably I would think. Hogan, Jonesy, T Mac, Viney to round out top five.
  23. In terms of repairing the list, he's exactly the type of player we need, talent and age wise. Opportunities like this won't drop from the sky as we saw during the last trade period when it was assumed we'd find that other A grader to add to the midfield rotation. What the right price would be is a separate question but it's a no brainer to be making some enquiries.
