  1. In your defence, he did kick bags of 6 and 5 in the two games before that.
  2. Good to hear Nicholson playing so well. That's what I'm talkin' about. NB: It certainly won't hurt Blease to learn how to lock down on an opponent, but long-term I reckon he'd be wasted in a BP.
  3. That's exactly what I wanted to post when I saw the thread title. I think that if you want to argue that Anzac Day should be shared it follows that all sorts of 'blockbusters' are up for grabs. EDIT: However, the article talks about Sheedy's idea that there be Anzac Day games across Australia, rather than ditching the Essendon v Collingwood game.
  4. If your 6th forward is of less benefit than the opposition's best attacking defender you'd want to negate him at least a bit.
  5. Yeah, I never understood this. I agree. If you decide to take the advantage and find the free kick went the other way you're screwed.
  6. This sounds a little like the beef I had with the previous rule, which I outlined here: Is the sort of stuff I've provided in my aforementioned example going to happen under your preferred ruling? (I'm not familiar enough with how the rule works in soccer/hockey to answer this).
  7. How do you reconcile this statement with the following part of your post? In your 'preferred approach' it seems that the umpire decides whether there is advantage.
  8. Is there another former or current Coach listed in this thread? Perhaps listed in the title of this thread? One that's said he's not interested in being 'the coach' any more but is still clearly interested in footy?
  9. *Plastic bag, 'American Beauty' styles.*
  10. It certainly wasn't my finest; merely pointing out in a less dry manner the fact that there are plenty of players we don't hear much of - if at all - for long periods. This is especially the case when they're not playing.
  11. Agreed. The only problem with the previous rule/interpretation was that if a player had advantage and then went on to stuff up the umpire would - wrongly, IMO - call play back. Here's an example: Dunn's on the ground 40 metres out and gets pushed in the back while he handballs off to Jurrah. A free kick is awarded but advantage is paid because Jurrah is waltzing into goal. Jurrah runs in a further 12 metres and then fluffs* the kick. The umpire would often say 'oh, no advantage' simply because the player ended up fluffing the kick. In my hypothetical, I think the umpire makes an error in calling the play back because there was in fact an advantage - the player with the footy was in a better position abd thus it was right to call advantage. The outcome - the fluffed kick - is irrelevant and the ball shouldn't be called back. Often it was called back, though, and that's the only real problem I had with the rule/interpretation (outside of the odd error, but they happen with every rule). *Yeah, you can see this is just hypothetical
  12. Zing. Yeah, I know what you mean. Normally Scully calls me every week just because he knows I supports Melbourne and thus want to know what he's up to.
  13. Not everyone's source; you should have talked to his grandmother. That's where I get the good oil.
  14. Judd's Grandmother told me Scully has taken six weeks off to head to Hong Kong. He's over there to organise citizenship after he signed a letter of intent with a major badminton club. I was glad to see the end of the whole 'MFC supporters are so much more fickle than those of all the other Clubs' line as a somewhat popular view. I assume this was because of a combination of consecutive record-smashing membership figures on the back of terrible seasons and a realisation that other teams in the doldrums also struggle to get members signing up and supporters to their games. However, for some reason we still have [some of] MFC's own supporters still attempt to perpetuate a negative stereotypes about supporters of the Club. The idea of MFCSS is ridiculous. If anything, there's just SS - nothing MFC-specific about it. (If you don't believe me, go check out some other footy fan forums).
  15. Those who argue that captaincy couldn't be impacting his game should surely now acknowledge that it may be having an impact, given Green himself has come out and said it's been affecting him. He should just do what's made him a successful AFL player.
  16. Regarding dropping Bartram for Blease, if Blease ends up our lock-down small defender I'll be both pretty surprised and a little disappointed.
  17. Do you think Gold Coast are better than VFL level?
  18. Given we've won 2.5 of 4 games, it's pretty likely we'd still be in the eight if there were no byes.
  19. Patersons Stadium = Subiaco.
  20. The only report I've read stated that he's a bit sore but will play (someone started a Demonland thread that linked to the article).
  21. If we're playing on a Friday or Saturday we always name our 22 + 3 emergencies when teams come out on a Thursday night. If we're playing on a Sunday we always name our 25 (including an extended bench) when teams come out on a Thursday night. We then reduce this to 4+3 on the Friday night (and every other team playing on a Sunday does the same).
  22. When it comes to the GC contract situation, I'd say you're right.
