Sure, Rivers may have taken a Riewoldt etc before, but I wouldn't say he is a CHB/FB. Of course - as you said - it all depends on definition, and there's been some debate on these boards about whether Rivers is a CHB or not. Daniher generally starts Rivers as the 'third tall' unless we're in desperate trouble either during a game, or at the selection table. Thus the assertion that he's not a key defender... Anyhow, I think we can all agree that whatever he is, he doesn't do a bad job of it. As you intimated, Whelan is hands down our best small defender.

Neitz has stated that he wants to hand over the reins to another player before he finishes his career, and it's fair to say Neitz is in the twilight of his career. It wouldn't be the biggest shock in football if Neitz stepped down.

I think I'll be less likely to watch a game just because it's on TV. With limited rations of footy, I think the networks would find that people would watch a game even if it wasn't a great contest. With 8 games per week on FTA TV, I think people will switch off on the poor games - they can get their footy fix with a better game instead.

It looks good. I didn't mind the training jumper we had a few years back with the 'flaming demon' similar to the one pictured, and a mostly navy/grey design.

For me the backline is the key issue in 07. If Holland or Carroll go down we're doomed, and while Holland has rejuvenated his career and been a key to our back half in the latter parts of the season, he did sit on the bench for half a final with no match-up. Oh for a Jackovich Our midfield is looking promising, and we've already been trying to inject some pace into that with our recruiting + rookie listing. The Rucks are more of an issue - can White and Jamar deliver us a flag? The forward line is capable. I guess it depends on what our spine looks like, but we certainly have a decent group of young running players that should be around the club for a long time. Thus, I don't think it's all doom and gloom if we miss out in the next two years.
