Although I can see where you're coming from, I can't say I agree with the proposal. As mentioned above, I think this would essentially be impossible to implement anyway. I don't believe the idea was an attempt to get more members, but simply to restrict posts to those from paid-up supporters.

That's the time one of the mods should lock* the thread Fair enough you want to get your POV out there, but use one of the other threads instead of creating a new topic. *or merge it into one of the existing threads

Indeed. McDonald's neither here nor there when it comes to Moloney's future at the Club, IMO. I'd certainly not be dropping Wheatley, but I didn't think he played well. Perhaps, considering you've said one of our better players, rather than 'he had a good game', you agree. He's missed his fair share of games - I wasn't aware he was ever 'sacred'.

Merger and Relocation back on agenda
Rogue replied to Sir Why You Little's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yeah, fair enough. I don't think I'd have much passion for AFL if we merged either. I think the Roos will get that side of things sorted. -
Merger and Relocation back on agenda

Who are we going to merge with? The Kangaroos have made it quite clear they aren't interested, and would rather die in Victoria than move interstate. -
I like the ins, although it's disappointing some other guys still haven't come up. Dropping Yze was a good move, IMO. It'd be interesting to know the reasoning behind Moloney's ommission. Axis of Bob might be onto something. I totally agree. You must have had expectations even lower than I did! I didn't see much from Weetra vs the Roos (at Casey Fields) or at the 'G last week. I can't recall his game vs Geelong in the pre-season, and didn't see the Ballarat/Cairns games, so maybe I missed something.
-
I saw a message indicating we were playing at the 'G vs the WB. Does the MCG even advertise upcoming games that are at TD?
-
I think it's disappointing, and makes sense to attempt to schedule the bigger-drawing games at the MCG. How you manage that while at the same time working in team's preferences regarding 'home' grounds is the fun of the fixture, ofc. Note that I'm not suggesting the Dees should play a home game at TD, simply that I'm sympathetic to fans being locked out from seeing their team play, regardless of who they support.

Merger and Relocation back on agenda
Rogue replied to Sir Why You Little's topic in Melbourne Demons
What prompted this realisation? I doubt they want an odd-number team either, and since they seem to have their hearts set on a Sydney team as well as a Gold Coast team, I don't see how one relocation would work so well. -
Nice one - what are you doing?
-
Exactly what I thought. Perhaps they're trying to manage his workload ;o
-
Hard to disagree. Some of our decision making and execution was amazingly bad.

Play Davey in the forward line @_@
-
The Cats had a pretty good midfield last season - even if he wasn't injured, would he have got a gig? I don't really know enough about Geelong's list, but they had a few good players running through the middle...
-
I would be You may be right, but either way the outcome is the same. PJ moves far better, and is 1 cm taller (at 199, vs Jamar's 198 - MFC Almanack 2008). Apparently Meesen is also a good athlete and moves well, and he's 200cm. He played up forward last season, to good effect. No room for him with all of Newton, Robbo, Neitz, and Miller though.
-
That was over there, and we won the game, yeah. I still remember that play.

Maybe it's just me, but watching the pre-season game vs the Roos, and the match last weekend, I've felt that at times Buckley makes a decision to concede possession of the ball when he and an opponent are around the same distance from the ball, rather than making every effort to take the ball himself. That said, he has pace and tries to take the game on at times, which is good to see.
-
I don't think Holland would have helped our backline greatly - probably didn't have a great match-up. While Holland, at this stage of proceedings, is better at AFL level than some of the other guys, he's not part of our future. Maybe he could have had a role up forward, but we already had a few tall forwards, and playing a small forward (where are you, Davey?) would have helped. I don't think that's his problem - moreso that he can't find the footy at AFL level, and doesn't have the agility etc.

We were going to get the same draft pick for Yze as we did for TJ?

Roughing Up Opponents Before the Bounce
Rogue replied to Maybe next year's topic in Melbourne Demons
I agree. It's pointless to scapegoat Carroll. -
Sure you can. I do understand where you're coming from. Since I started working part-time, while in school, I've had a MFC membership every year without fail. I haven't often got 'value for money', but it's about contributing to the Club. However, to others, AFL and the MFC is simply entertainment. With that in mind, buying a membership is, for the most part, to gain access to the footy on match days. It's not about taking 'some sort of ownership' of the Club, but about entertainment. With the insipid performance we displayed on the weekend, on the back of a poor 2007, I can understand some people deciding they'd rather spend their time and money on other forms of entertainment over the next few months.

Got a laugh out of me.

Neitz in doubt for round 1 (unconfirmed rumour)
Rogue replied to Dee1987's topic in Melbourne Demons
He's always had these flaws at times. When he's not kicking goals, they tend to be more obvious. -
Assuming the listed 18 will be playing, it's interesting that Garland's been listed. Good to see Buckley on the wing, we need some pace. From the interchange, I'd take PJ over Jamar, Frawley for an extra option down back, and also have Moloney and Morton.
