  1. This doesn't seem worded very well. The Crows may have used a first-round draft choice to get Meesen, but they then used a third(?) round pick last year to get Moran from Kangaroos, the pick they were received for trading Meesen to Melbourne.
  2. Great response in the few weeks since Stynes came on board. It would be interesting to know how many signed up on the back of the Brisbane game, too. Props to Judee and nineteen (from Demonology) for organising volunteers to call lapsed members. PS. Where'd you pull this article from? Bad form to copy/paste whole articles from other places - if you didn't write it, that is
  3. My worst fears have been confirmed - you're my new favourite member at Demonland.
  4. They went well. Check the VFL Rd12 Review thread here.
  5. TJ stated in the media that he had spoken to a few people about playing on a HBF, they thought it'd be good for him and he was enthusiastic, and then when away on holidays he found out he was on the trade table. Even if he has, he's too old. Better to use that spot on our list for a young kid.
  6. Positive signs for Newton, Bell, and Morton. Hopefully they play this week, and push for recall. It sounds like all the guys in the reserves all went alright, which is good - but I guess it can be easy when you win big. Since he's only had a half in the reserves, I think he'll play at least one more game for them. Positive signs, though.
  7. The Club will announce it this week, apparently.
  8. I understand your point. I think your analogy is off the mark though - the CEO would be benefitting (bonuses etc). MelbourneFC directors don't benefit financially.
  9. That's an interesting nomination.
  10. Does he have the leap that Robertson did..?
  11. Nice one! Unfortunately I was on the opposite wing (and the play always seems to be on the members side of the ground).
  12. I agree with you, and don't think we necessarily need to drop that in order to have a pretty low finish (even if we're trying to finish bottom). Certainly. I wasn't suggesting that the scenario I mentioned would have no value to the player involved - simply that you may not do it if you needed to win the game in order to make finals, win a final, or whatever. However, that doesn't apply to us.
  13. Match-day tactics (or lack thereof). ie. Leaving a kid on someone who's giving him a towelling for 'experience' - not something you'd do in a grand final.
  14. Hrm: "Its called intelligence. Dont be so naieve..." PS. Fwiw, I agree with you on this. Clearly better to finish last.
  15. I'm happy to post them up there for you. You can make a post in here / PM me if you want.
  16. Don't be so condescending - it doesn't suit you
  17. From memory, we had nothing like a full list when I went down to SS to watch us play Geelong in the NAB Cup. Considering this has turned into a bit of a discussion about times past: * I would have been happy to see ND go after 2000. I felt he was almost always very slow in making changes during matches. This is something that's hard to assess with DB, considering we've been so terrible. * I also felt we were so overrated post-2006 it wasn't funny. A quick look at our list and their age - couple the fact that our more important players were past their prime with the predominance of young and quite inexperienced players in our best 22 - should have given a clear indication that we weren't going to be contenders.
  18. April 1 is long gone.
  19. You're about three months too late with this thread.

    Paul Wheatley

On the stats page, or from your observation? Some of the 'contested' marks and 'contested' possessions aren't really all that contested.
  21. The bounce since Stynes came on board hasn't been anywhere near that of the spike North received when they stated they were going to stay in Victoria or die trying. Our tally this year isn't significantly increased on last year, whereas North has had a 50% increase.

    Valenti

I agree. From what I saw, he lost his feet a bit too (although he did stand up in a few tackles). With Moloney and McLean out for the count, I think he'll get a chance to secure a senior spot, though. Good luck to him.
  23. I guess the injuries to Moloney and McLean give Valenti a decent shot at earning a spot on the senior list. It also means other young guys will get a run through the middle when they may not have otherwise. Terrible news for McLean, though. Robertson too.
  24. I think you're off the mark, but I did find the analogy amusing.
