  1. The masses are fickle Given the Club has announced initiatives targetting the big bucks, I guess attention has turned to what the Average Joe can do.
  2. With McLean, Moloney, and McDonald all missing from the middle, it could be a long day for the midfield - not to mention Jamar rucking. On the positive side, I guess some second-tier runners will get opportunities. It'll be a big test for Valenti.
  3. Nice one, TheShaft. Donations like this will keep our Club going! Props.
  4. That's excellent. A shame they're not going with your implementation, though PS. Don't mention it.
  5. Read his post again I wouldn't be actively looking to trade him because I'd be happy to keep him, and he doesn't have a high trade value. What's Wheatley worth in that proposed trade, and why would Sydney want him?
  6. As someone said, I think Wheatley has played this type of footy before, but not consistently. He also seems to have been given a more attacking role this year, which suits him to a tee. I've always wanted to see him playing up around the wing, rather than down in defence, to better use his strengths. That's it. He's not one I'd be actively trying to offload though.
  7. I understand where you're coming from. It was a bit of a lose/lose. The GC would have been hard pressed to give him a longer contract. As a GC rep said in the article bb linked to, it wouldn't have been good governance. However, one year in the big time isn't much for a senior Coach - I can imagine it possible that Voss would get pushed out if they had a very poor first year, and despite the money and love from the AFL, it'd probably be a fairly tough year given it'd be their first year in the league.
  8. Just slip them a 150 Club flyer on their way out
  9. Smart move by Voss. He'll be better off getting AFL experience atm, rather than dealing with QLD underage comps, IMHO.
  10. I imagine all the guys named on the ground will play, so Morton's a definite in I think the interchange might be D.Bell, S.Martin, M.Newton, S.Valenti, with Carroll, White, and Bode to miss. That'd be Morton and Bell for McLean and Davey, with one of the half-backs given more time up the ground, I guess. Wouldn't be surprised to see Carroll replace one of Bell or Martin from those four, though.
  11. Frawls, I'm not sure how Robertson can be in our top 5 MVPs at the end of the year, given his age - plus injury status - and the place the team's at as a group.
  12. I understand. I'm sure this isn't the only initiative
  13. Figuratively speaking, it's great to get the pennies, but why would you ignore the pounds? edit: I agree with bb.
  14. There was a fairly long thread a few weeks back (maybe more?), and a similar plan was discussed. Someone said they were going to email the Club with the ideas. A similar idea to this was mooted, but I'd focus on running a 'dollar a day' campaign as a direct debit thing - when you sign up for your membership, you tick the box offering to donate $30 p/month via direct debit. Nothing stopping a loose change campaign running alongside it, ofc.
  15. It could probably go either way. However, I'm sure he's built a life for himself in Melbourne, and it's probably good that he's able to get away from the Club and spend some time catching up with friends and family while doing the rehab work, rather than sit around in Victoria while his peers are involved with footy. If he can get his body right, he'll be a handy 'recruit' in '09.
  16. Then why is it that some players at AFL level struggle to display the nous required? Some guys just don't have it, and never will. NB: Not saying Nat is like that, just don't think your rationale stacks up all the time. plus...
  17. Yes, that's good. I sent in an email after the Club's weekly e-newsletter asked supporters to send in suggestions via the info@ address, and never received a reply.
  18. Haha, nice work. I wouldn't imagine there'd be huge support for the Dees over there..?
  19. DB would never bad-mouth a player to a fan. Not much to the story, although I am interested to hear he's contracted for another year.
  20. If his skills are as good as a midfielder, great. In addition to concerns over his footy nous, there also seem to be question marks over his skills and marking (although people have mentioned a good grab on the win today). IMO he needs to have very nice skills or be a strong mark, but it's no good to have a great athlete if his skills aren't up to it and he can't mark well.
