  1. Since when is demoting a player 'throwing them on the scrapheap'?
  2. Players don't choose to miss targets. They choose whether to take one for the team.
  3. Are you sure? In a previous season, PJ was also playing a good game versus Sydney interstate, when he hurt his shoulder. He was also in pretty decent form at the start of this year when he broke his hand (?) - wasn't that in the game vs Geelong?
  4. I think that's the biggest problem. He hasn't cemented a spot anywhere, IMHO.
  5. Thanks for the laugh.
  6. I'm not sure Frawley has the skills for a running defender, so I think he'll need to be able to bulk up and mind a tall forward. Too early to be writing him off - or annointing him as a star - though, IMHO. He's got time on his side, and is in no danger of being delisted.
  7. I think CJ needs to continue to show good form for the Dees over the rest of the season, and I hope he makes it.
  8. Promoting him for the sake of it is ridiculous. What's the basis of expecting he can do something at AFL level if he's struggling at VFL level? Not to mention the fact that he's still got another year to go on his contact anyway. Btw, how's Meesen compare to Moran?
  9. Get a room.
  10. The WB have a deal with VU, whereby students get a complimentary 2-3-game 'membership'.
  11. Last I checked, we were neck and neck with WB (and higher than Brisbane, if not anyone else). This was well before Stynes came on board, so I imagine we now have a higher membership figure than the Dogs.
  12. The elusive Newton..!
  13. Same. Frawley gives us another tall option. edit: Bailey indicated that there'll be changes - "DEAN Bailey has indicated that the Melbourne match committee will make at least a couple of changes when the team is selected to take on the Sydney Swans this Sunday. The Demons have won just one match this season, and face the in-form Swans in Canberra. "We need to ensure that the players who are in good form at Sandringham are being rewarded," Bailey said." Perhaps Valenti and Whelan will both come in.
  14. The Herald Sun is a quality publication.
  15. Good to hear we've broken the record! BB, I tend to agree. I imagine a minority was due to PG etc, but I think a major part would have been the emotional call to arms that acted as a pull for those who hadn't signed up for other reasons (couldn't attend, finances tight, etc).
  16. The crowd at the Freo game was pretty loud, and there were only Dees fans there.
  17. Probably true.
  18. Players are already made to do xyz - going out to schools would be one more thing. Ofc it'd be a Club initiative, and not player-driven. What sort of feasability study would you do with the concept of school trips*? *not taking a jab; it's a fair call re: some of the ideas, but I'm not sure many fans have the time, skills, and inclination to create business proposals etc
  19. Players attending schools in the Casey area is a no-brainer. There's something seriously wrong if we're not doing things like that when we make our big Casey push. The adopting a school angle is an interesting one, but I think we need to push the team aspect.
  20. You're in a positive frame of mind today, RR
  21. Courage and determination, I think. Perhaps somehing about teamwork. All the positive qualities the Army likes to think they possess
  22. Good post, and welcome to Demonland
  23. No. He was emergency for the Dees (the other two - Jamar and Carroll - played for Sandy).
  24. It is probably too many, yes. However, considering at least 2 of those 6 would be gone by 2010, I don't think it'd be a major problem. I'd rather be in a position where we could trade away a ruck, rather than try and recruit one.
