I flew down for the game yesterday. It's a beautiful ground and was a perfect day. The way I see we lost the game was many things. Letting them get off to that good start, not manning up Harvey tight enough. Think Jetta was on him and a few times he went to the contest and left Harvey out the back a few times and that's how he scored a few of his goals. But the one play that I believe cost us a game and was a momentum killer was when Wattsy did not go back for goal and elected to pass to Hogan. I know he probably thought he'd do the team thing but geez he had the breeze behind him and he should have just gone back and slotted it through. The turnover cost us a goal and it just killed us. Also I thought Kent took a little to long to kick that final goal and I just watched the final minute because I couldn't see the last 20 seconds because people stood up in front of me and I couldn't see. If only Bugg hit Stretch on the chest and looking at that he should have and also the nth players forced Stretch to twist and turn wasting a few seconds hence kicking after the siren, If only he got to straighten up and get it on the boot. But it was a great game to watch. Just a few little things could have been done differently. Vanders miss was just as bad as Watts turning the ball over. Would back Aaron to kick that goal everytime.

Can't blame the umps really because we were to slow in getting going however I would love to know why that mark was not paid to Harmes.

Yep one of my faves outside of melbourne. I used to love reading his columns in the age. A good guy who has been loyal to his dogs even through the bad times and deserves to be part of the success. More annoying is it was in the dying seconds as well.

Flown down to Hobart and spent a nice few day here. Now ready for game day. I was a bit surprised watching the news last night and they said melbourne arrived in the afternoon and chose not to have a training session. I found this a bit strange as we have never been to the ground. Thought they would want to have a run on it. Well about time Dunn came back in. Nth have a tall forward line so I hope we aren't out of our depth. Thompson back for nth. He will niggle and annoy Hogan so much to put him off his game. I hope Jesse has a good frame of mind this week and just focuses on his job. Big job for Maxy this week against Goldstein. So the giants beat geelong by 13 points. This season is very interesting. I mean we beat the giants who beat the cats who thrashed the reigning premiers last week. Gold Coat upset Freo which was a shock, By the way Richmond have moved down to 9th.

Wow the bulldogs are certainly an exciting team and good on them. It will be interesting next week to see how they go against the hawks. I was shell shocked last night when I saw not only GC winning but winning easily at Perth. Freo are a worry and if they were a melbourne team more heat would be put on them by the media. Geelong coming back only 5 points down. Danger not having a massive game stat wise like last week.

Well I didn't want to see all the hoo ha with the march, all the ex players and the waving of the jackets and to be honest I couldnt sit there and watch them beat us so I made the decision to not attend and go across the road and support the storm play and made the right decision. I was not surprised that we lost. We cannot handle being the favourites and I think Roosy was right. That players waltzed into yesterday just thinking it will happen. How many supporters thought yesterday was already a win? Anyway next week against nth I hope they show a lot more fight. I will be going to Hobart which may be a stupid decision and a waste of money but I expect a massive response and its time we beat nth.

I will feel more nervous come game time. In the past melbourne havent been able to cope being the favourites. Today we are. I feared last year Daniher would finally kick straight and he did. But I feel this year we are a different team and obviously we are with the new players. It would just be a massive disaster if we drop todays game after our good win last week. Plus could you just imagine the hysteria amongst the essenscum fans. They would be feeling confident today that they have a chance. If the right melbourne shows up we should be sitting pretty at 3/4 time and enjoy the last quarter. We need to thrash them today.

I said to my family when tigs were up by 17 that the pies will kick the last 3 and win by a point. I did predict that Cloke would kick the sealer but that was a great last quarter. Stevo just said on ch7 that nth and gold coast are near the bottom and have nothing to worry about in regards to strikes and results. Makes it interesting about the interstate team then.

Actually i think Tommy Bugg was famous for giving a bit of lip when he was at GWS. Toby Greene is another one im pretty sure. I remember reading a few years ago that a GWS player was giving lip to Robert Murphy and the umpire told the GWS guy to show murphy some respect because he had been in the game a lot longer than he had. But a small non meaningful thing I did notice watching the sport on the news tonight was they showed the coaches box at the end when the siren went and I noticed Roos was in the 2nd row and Goodwin was in the front. Im sure the past few years Roos was always in the front. Guess he is letting Goodwin see it from the front. Roosy still had the phone in his hand like he always does.
