  1. Christ i'm sick of that tune too. Someone said it on a footy forum a few years ago and ever since it is a golden ticket for a player to have zero impact and produce absolutely nothing, why? because he is above a certain height. What sort of garbage is that? He isn't even PLAYING KPP he floats around like flanker or even a winger up the ground, where his height and athleticism should give him an EDGE over nearly everyone else! It shouldn't be his excuse to underproduce! If you must, compare him to James Frawley then, he got an AA cap in his 4th year of football, how far is Watts from that? I don't want to be too harsh on him but I am sick of this soft attitude Melbourne supporters have that they just put up with substandard players and have them hang around the club for years waiting for them to get better. We need more mongrel at this club and the first blokes it should be directed at are the underperforming-but-supposedly-elite like Watts and Morton. If Bailey is putting pressure on them good on him I say
  2. 2 of those 4 possessions were free kicks too! so that's 2 other possessions in what 70+ minutes of footy? and how many simple marks did he drop? I remember one uncontested one that someone bulleted to him 45 out from goal in front He's just like Morton, the day he was recruited at the pointy end of the draft most supporters immediately commenced fantasies of this champion player holding the cup aloft. Ever since they have defended them to the death regardless of what they have or haven't shown on the football field. It's a type of denial. Tom Scully (and to a lesser extent Trengove) has produced what you hope for in elite draft picks - the other two have not, simple as that. They are both tremendously gifted from an athletic POV but both have question marks over their application It needs to be a little less 'patience, give them time to develop' and a little more 'FCS HTFU or GTFO!' I think Bailey is more inclined to the latter philosophy at least i hope he is
  3. i bought mine online and produced a printout of my invoice/receipt at the membership tent and they gave me a ticket
  4. That's all well and good but it's the likes of Green, Jurrah, Dunn, Petterd that create most of them, not Jack Watts. I must have blinkers on because I missed what you saw last week, I just saw a bloke continually be in the wrong spots and be allergic to the football. Needs to lift big time.
  5. correct at the moment in a pack situation he doesn't throw himself into it and actually try and mark the bloody thing, he is content with being seen jumping near it.. this along with Stefan Martin's almost-comical sense of timing and total lack of footy smarts, and Bate's general shoddiness was the reason we looked so bloody awful last week. I pray this isn't the be all and end all of our 2011 forward line because it will not produce many goals that's for sure
  6. There is no way in hell Watts deserves to be in our 22 based on what he has produced thus far in his career. Absolutely no chance. The last 2 weeks he was awful, enbarassing even. However, we are investing in him so it's important he stays in the side and that's just the way it is. He had better start proudicing something soon though. As for Bate, I have had a gutfull of him, he's had his chance and come up short IMO
  7. yes I look forward to having a Jurrah speccie described to me in text, that is the only true way to enjoy the sport
  8. between ourselves and hawthorn we have what 90,000 members or something.. surely that warrants some sort of telecast i made a thread about this and apparantly nobody gives a rats
  9. can't wait for this oh wait we wont see a second of it damn
  10. gotta have a LOL at Brian Lara's apparent relevance to the issue at the end of the day Schwabby is not happy which is all that needs to be said huge spanner in our Casey plans
  11. updates, while appreciated, just aren't the same
  12. Nothing gives me the s--ts more than knowing there are blokes in red and blue jumpers playing football somewhere and I am not allowed to see it. It is impossible. I notice last week the Richmond Football Club organised a live stream of their practice match vis their website. Why can't we do this? Why the hell are we in tassie anyway? I don't understand why the first round of the NAB cup is considered TV worthy, but any games played by the losers after that are not TV worthy. Why don't they just make it a 4-week round robin thing where every game is televised? the worst part is there will only be about 3 people to witness it and give us an account of what happened
  13. ten years of service for me, that's a GOLD membership three cheers for me hip hip!
  14. well it will... that's the issue hopefully he gets a career ending injury first training session
  15. He was rubbish, he butchered it almost every time he got it in his hands
  16. this thread is garbage! Do any of you whingers actually have a memory that is longer than 2 weeks? We are talking about a team that in 2010 played the premiers twice and finished 1 point down. We are talking about a team that was 85 points better than Sydney. We are talking about a team that could well have finished on 14 wins if a few things had gone our way. Were any of you at those games? I was, and I didn't hear many people whinging about fitness, strength and skills then. All I heard about was our 'cat-like' ball movement and how we are destined to become a league superpower. What do you think has happened? All of a sudden, instead of maturing and developing we have gone backwards for no apparent reason? You must have the brain of a pigeon if you watch a praccy match with half the side out and re-evaluate your whole position on the club. Fair dinkum use your heads and HTFU
  17. That is such a ridiculous post, we had plenty out last week and today AS IS CLEARLY WRITTEN IN THE POST EARLIER IN THE THREAD we were missing 11 of our 22 What happened today is of zero importance
  18. I'm not much worried about what happened out there as the team far from resembled our round 1 lineup, but it was pretty bad I don't how we manage to struggle so badly with handballing. We were pretty weak again, got murdered at the stoppages, and could not put on any pressure. The forward line had nobody home and Bate and Watts were totally useless. Bate is just a terrible footballer who has to go, so is Stefan Martin, he does not have a clue what he is doing out there. I have always been a huge Jones supporter but Jesus he was awful today, his skills are a disgrace. I can only give a nod to Jetta, Maric, Warnock and Petterd who was a really potent forward target, the rest of them were garbage you are never going to look too good missing Green Davey Bartram Garland Frawley Jurrah Wonaeamirri Grimes Morton McKenzie Trengove
  19. hey mate newsflash tom scully hasnt signed im not going to be handing around any 'told-ya-so' calls just yet
  20. This was the most important bit: Would you consider an offer from GWS? The figure that has been thrown around is amazing for a 19-year-old? Is it something that you do have to consider? “Well, if the time did come - and it hasn’t - I’d have to look into it, but again, it’s not a focus of mine and I’ll leave that to my management and the club to sort out.” New clubs don’t come into the AFL every day? Someone is going to get rich at GWS? Is the money something that rolls around in your head? “Absolutely not.” How do you resist that kind of money though? “Well, it goes back to your values. The Melbourne footy club gave me an opportunity and I do love the club and I do love playing here. And you can see where we’re going - we’re heading in the right direction both on and off the field. I want to be part of the future here.”
