  1. hmm let's not get nuts, what spud is he playing on
  2. there is obviously an obvious difference when discussing almost an entire side not fielding vs the playing history of one player OBVIOUSLY by your rationale everybody not playing today has the opportunity to trot out the 'interrupted preseason' excuse later in the season. You're talking about 2 completely different things OBVIOUSLY
  3. it's case of both sides going in to round 1 with the majority of their players not having the benefit on extra warmup match
  4. You have to wonder what the point of even having this game is... aren't practice matches supposed to be so your team can some MATCH PRACTICE in? I would say 15-16 or even more of our best 22 are not out going to be out there, what the hell are they doing sidelining so many players? It has been a long time since I've seen such a depleted squad, now I'm glad its not on TV because we will surely get absolutely pumped
  5. Well obviously people that bagged Cale have been proven completely correct, so that's a horrible example
  6. Daniher wanted a salary cap for the football department expenditure, and was laughed at, even though it is an obvious unfair advantage
  7. Agreed. I asked the exact same question of Tappy about a week ago and got similar treatment.. isn't this a football discussion site? Bewildering Anyway, It is abundantly clear that the kid has shown very little to date and the clock is ticking - he is only 3 months younger than Watts, who has faced 10x the scrutiny but contributed 10x as much
  8. There are 6 of the 9 games played this weekend to be shown live on fox footy http://www.afl.com.au/tv-radio Have a guess who the 6 teams are that miss out? GC, GWS, Brissy, Port, North and of course us. Oh and of course the following week three of those get covered, but again GC, Port and us miss out. Clearly being broke and/or having a small supporter base has determined this fixture AGAIN.. I wonder when these fixtures are made if they even discuss who gets shafted or is there some list on the wall with our name at the top.
  9. except that it's pretty much exactly the same situation, aside from Hogan being bigger high draft pick key forward rushed into a cr@p side to appease supporter impatience we are going to suck for several years and he won't be at his peak for many more, why the rush?
  10. I've always found the All-Australian side to be a pretty good measuring device for a definition of a champion: In 2007, the Cats had a staggering 9 of the 22 named: Scarlett, Milburn, Egan, Bartel, Johnson, Mooney, Ablett, Corey, Ling... Harley, Bartel, Chapman and Selwood were also named in the next 2 seasons. This is why they were so good, they had 13 players up around the best in the league at once. Who are our 13? Jamar? Clark Jones Frawley Grimes McKenzie? Howe Blease? Watts Trengove? T.McDonald? Toumpas? Viney? Hogan? Very short list with too many question marks. Hmmm.
  11. come on you lot, let's hose it down a bit - yes he looks good but we are talking about a total of 6 incidents in a praccy match. I have seen too many 'potential stars' come and go at this club. I don't think we are doing anybody any favours by talking him up so much so early. I'll be keeping an eye on his year at Casey though, there's a club that are probably pretty pleased with Tom Scully and GWS at the moment!
  12. I personally am getting very sick of this tune - it's just an excuse for anyone who is relatively young and/or has had even minor injury problems. It was an excuse trotted out for Colin Sylvia his whole career so far, and countless others. This will be Tapscott's 4th year after being taken at #18. He is 3 months younger than Jack Watts and a year older than Tom McDonald. He has 19 games under his belt. He has only been held back through injury to a minor degree, if you are declared match fit and available then that is that. Our side is a basket case full of other kids - there is no excuse for him not to be making some sort of stamp this season, whatever way you cut it. I have nothing against him, but the facts of the matter are we are three years in and seeing nothing.
  13. what crusade are you on? this happens to be the NAB squad thread which has omitted Tapscott, hence the comment
  14. well that's not what you would call an 'honourable' mention is it - you have in fact proven my point mate
  15. well i refer also to what he has done in his career so far, which is nothing, and the fact nobody ever mentions him.
  16. Is Tapscott another burnt top 20 pick? He is about as prominent as the boot studder in terms of the enthusiasm and chat around him. Gysberts, Strauss, Morton, Bate, Dunn, Cook.. very disappointing.
  17. I can't wait for every commentator and journalist to make a passing mention of all this in connection with us for many years to come. If the day ever comes when we actually play some good footy and are maybe up near the top of the ladder (yeah, right) just wait for the accusations of undeserved success. We have certainly been shafted in the sense that this entire fiasco should not have even happened. Brock McLean FFS.
  18. Or when the target of your article is a club with far more supporters, not the skinny kid in the playground. Typical bully cowardice
  19. I'll be there for the obligatory elderly member with the aggressive, confrontational question about tanking
  20. I really don't get some of the posters in here - anyone familiar with me will know that I am often one of the biggest pessimists around, but with all the things to be down on at the club right now, Watts isn't one of them. The bloke is an exceptional athlete who makes the right decision and uses it well nearly every time he gets his hands on it, which is the 3rd highest amount of time for anyone in the side. He is still 21 and clearly has suffered from being part of an awful side. If he was at a top4 club he would be looking like a genuine star
  21. I'm with you in that I would prefer not to see any 'scandals' like this in the sport, and I feel guilty for enjoying this knowing what it feels like However, in a perverse way it makes me feel better that a so-called power club can cop it too, perhaps we are not the whipping boys it feels like we are. Also I know a ton of cocky, ball-busting essendon supporters to whom I owe a lot of ball-busting
  22. pft, that presser was the most obvious attempt at getting on the front foot because you know youre about to be cooked - exactly like adelaide did with the cap issue
  23. Let's see how much vitriol and unfounded accusations are in her next piece of 'journalism' on this issue Pathetic and disgusting
