Demons warned on draft tampering
Dr. Mubutu replied to red and blue forever's topic in Melbourne Demons
Liam Sumner: pick 10, 2011; 178cm Dion Prestia: pick 9, 2010; 172cm Chris Yarran: pick 6, 2008; 180cm -
I'm actually surprised at how few are picking Petterd. Surely if he stars as a defensive forward on the weekend, he'd be in with an excellent chance of being recalled? I'm sure he'd be aware of this. I mean, it's hardly a Dunn deal that this role is filled in the AFL team.

Hmmmm.......an interesting thought. If he can get this message across to the young first round draft picks, he'll definitely have been worth the pick 54.

If we're to take this up, it would almost certainly be an Unrestricted free agent. In that vein, I'd be interested in (no particular order): Black Russell Bolton Rosa Salopek Dyson Bateman Knights Highly unlikely we'd snag any of Rosa, Bolton or Black, but the others would be good, solid senior players to have on the list.

This Is Serious Mum get it spot on, as always.

Whilst St. Kilda's ruckmen are almost complete pants, the bloke got 55 hitouts! Surely the mids are to blame, at least for the most part! They know where he's going to tap it to....... And no. Spencer played on him, and was completely towelled. Not completely unexpected, considering he's played no footy in the past 12 months.

Yep, I agree. Just seems to be very disciplined (for mine, anyway). Wouldn't be surprised if he's found a niche as a defensive small forward.......

If only it had an extra 5m on it........

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY

You've gotta love the optimism on this board, already predicting a bottom three finish. There are still 17 games to play....... -
Patrick Dangerfield ... Let's get him!
Dr. Mubutu replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'd swap for pick 5 in a heartbeat. -
No, no, a thousand times no. What is the point of having Watts in the ruck when currently on our list we have: Jamar Martin Spencer Sellar Fitzpatrick Gawn It would take some time for the 'training' you wish to happen to be sufficient for Watts to play in the ruck, and by then Spencer will be ready to come back to AFL level, and Gawn will probably be back in full training. Cook being the next Cloke? You're joking right? If this idea came to fruition, it would be the biggest waste of a #1 draft pick since HWMNBN. As much as you may wish we'd drafted NicNat, it didn't happen. Watts is showing glimpses of what he will become.

I hope Jordie can do half the job on Selwood he did on Goddard last week. One of the highlights for mine was just seeing BJ getting more and more frustrated. However, expect him to be on enforced vacation next week, if the Selwood protectionism from the MRP continues. Trengove to go to Bartel, if only to see (IMO) the most damaging player in the game. If JT can even be spoken of in the same breath as Bartel, we'll be well on our way! (Even if Bartel IS coming off his worst game of the season: trust me, he's the captain of my UF team!) As much as I'd like Grimes to be released into the midfield, unfortunately there's no player who can play the rebounding half back role (especially one who can read the play as well as Frank). Given it's a foregone loss, could we see someone trialled in this position? Frawley or Sellar I think will have to go to Hawkins, none of our other backline players have the strength to go to him, given current form. Garland definitely has to take Stevie J. Chapman seemed to play himself back into a bit of form last week, I'd expect Tom McD to play on him this week. The most important thing, assuming the ball will get inside our attacking 50, is restricting the rebound. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the return of Petterd to play alongside Dunn to restrict this movement. Clark, so far, is a classy player, and I assume Scarlett will be playing on him. If he can reduce Scarlett's impact, that's half the battle. Neeld should bear none of the scars of 186, but he IS a realist. I'm sure he'll be backing the players to just stick to the gameplan, and restrict Geelong's rebound from defence, as well as their run and spread. In saying that, the Cats are a class side, and as much as I hate to say it, just not in our league at the moment. Expect the ground to be greasy and could, as the outlook is for showers down there to continue until Saturday morning. IMO, if the players keep up the effort we saw last week, and restrict Geelong's run and carry, they could very well get very frustrated and we could see a surprising result. I'm not expecting a win, but if the guys keep the defensive pressure up as we saw last week, as well as the week-on-week improvement, the loss could be not-too-damaging! Cats by 45, for mine. However, if I hear: "The boys are doing oustandingly on the training track..." ONE MORE TIME at the post-match presser, I may well lose my mind.

Time to perform a 'Hail Mary' play, then?

6 - Jones. Massively underrated, even sometimes on here! 5 - McKenzie. Absolutely loved his work on Goddard. Especially when watching the replay, had the biggest grin on his face as BJ got more and more annoyed. 4 - Magner. Niggly, clearance machine, fearless. Hard to believe he was taken at pick 50+ in the rookie draft. 3 - McDonald. Did an excellent job shutting down Reiwoldt, even if Roo is a bit down of form. 2 - Rivers. Plays the role of backline general exceptionally well. Was especially needed in Frawley's absence. 1 - Jamar. Massive amount of hitouts, even if it was against a couple of spuds. Massive apologies to Morton, Bartram and Moloney.
-
At least he corrected himself, unlike Richo(?) who insisted on calling him TrengRove throughout the match!
-
Macdonald has to be dropped. Same with McDonald. If the selection panel don't punish ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE disposal, I don't know what we'll do. FCS, they were worse than Bartram today! Garland is having a rough trot of form, but his disposal is OK. I'd almost consider him being our HBF player instead of our current (Macdonald *groan*), and putting Martin in defence when he's resting from the ruck - play on Kosi/Stanley? Davey, while nowhere near his best, is better than many others on the field, and realistically there's no-one else to play that position. (Bail or Blease possibly in the long term?) OUT: Sellar, Macdonald, McDonald IN: Grimes, Sylvia, Martin FB: Bartram Martin Rivers HB: Garland Frawley Grimes C: Watts Trengove Jones HF: Sylvia Howe Morton FF: Davey Clark Tapscott R: Jamar Moloney Magner I: McKenzie Bail Bate Dunn One more chance to see if the Jamar/Moloney combination can reach the heights we've seen in the past. If Clark's out, Jesus. Petterd in and reshuffle positions?
-
6 - Rivers 5 - Jones 4 - Bate 3 - Morton 2 - Watts 1 - Howe Apologies to McKenzie, Clark and Magner. No apologies to "Fumbles" Macdonald or Sellar.
-
Not as bad as Eddie or Der-wayne. Always just listen to the ABC stream. Thank goodness for Whateley.
-
Thankyou James Magner! Won the game for me. Not because he was on my team, but because he restricted Matthew Boyd.
-
How is it that Maric gets off for punching McKenzie, yet Grimes gets a week for executing a tackle? Baffling.
-
Looks like I'm off to Bunnings to get some green gaffer tape.
-
In my completely uneducated opinion: IN: Couch, Petterd, Tynan OUT: Grimes (susp), Martin, Bail FB: Bartram, Frawley, Rivers HB: Tynan, Sellar, McDonald C: Trengove, Grimes, Morton HF: Watts, Howe, Garland F: Petterd, Clark, Davey R: Jamar, Magner, Jones I: McKenzie, Bate, Couch S: Tapscott Jamar lucky to stay in without Beamer, due to lack of other options. (Martin, Gawn injured; Spencer just played his first game in 12 months; Fitzy not developed enough.)
-
Luckily their forward line is pox. Any market for less than 6 goals scored in total?
-
And his disposal is worse than Bartram's.
