Nope. Rodan was brought in for leadership and experience. Where was he when that was exactly what was needed in the 3rd quarter? At least Nicho had a dip.

A Calendar of Incompetency - Patrick Smith

Jeez, you're a stronger man than I, going to the Chalk as a Dees supporter. -
It does highlight Grimes' endeavour on Sunday, though. No surprise, he's one of the few players with an emotional connection to the club.

I'm afraid not, Miss Fishmore. I believe sacking people is the ONLY answer.

On the Couch dissects first 15mins of Dee game
Dr. Mubutu replied to jnrmac's topic in Melbourne Demons
Watching the replay, I didn't think Nicho's effort was as horrible as I first thought. Sure, his skills are rubbish, but at least he showed some effort, IMO. -
FWIW, I did, but under the realisation that nobody would read it or take it seriously, and simply for my own piece of mind. Screaming into the abyss, as it were. I definitely don't envy the frontline staff who had to deal with all that vitriol today.

I, too, would welcome any information as to the club's current woes, and I'm sure HG will be tempered in his comments, and not implicate anyone, as per his usual posting style. This forum will be the worse for your leaving, Hells Gates.

I hope you'll be happy watching only 3 minutes of football then, rufus.

Nice metaphor, but you've got it arse about. Who, honestly, is being hurt when you're not giving it your all in that environment? Hint: it ain't the teacher.
-
I'm surprised this hasn't got more attention: What exactly did they not see coming? An AFL-level game? Newsflash, gents: YOU'RE PLAYING IN THE AFL.
-
Does it matter? They're professionals. It shouldn't take a fire and brimstone speech to perform to the bare minimum.

While I agree about Watts putting in a poor effort yesterday, I do believe that there were some mitigating circumstances to that. And while it's not exactly making up for the poor on-field showing, at least he's had the intestinal fortitude to face up to the media since the game, which is more than can be said for his teammates.

I've alluded to this in other threads, but I feel that it needs its own topic. Melbourne have consistently stated over the off-season that these two players were specifically brought in to address the dearth of experience and leadership across our playing list. However, when efforts and cool heads were required yesterday, very few stood up. Namely, the Jacks Viney and Grimes. If these two blokes are in the team next week, I will chuck a massive tanty, as immature as it may be.

I'm not advocating open slather, but jeez, the silence today has been deafening. What other club, after a pathetic effort like yesterday, would have the admin sit silent. There is something wrong with the way this club is run, definitely. Last year after the Sydney game, nothing until the Monday. The Jurrah situation in September last year, Port were able to put out a statement before MFC. The farce of a game on Sunday.......still we wait...... Is there any danger of someone in the administration of this club getting on the front foot for a change?

6. The supporters, for putting up with this crap week in, week out. 5. Viney 4. Grimes 3. M. Jones 2. McKenzie 1. Blease

Speaking of cash flow, surely we can free up cash from the 'salaries' line item? We would have to have a case to pay less than 95% of the cap based on the 'effort' shown on the weekend?

Imagine winning 10 games in a season.....

Frankly, I would like actual responses to questions and issues raised in emails. Perhaps even a 'supporter's forum', where the club could respond to genuine concerns we have about the club, not a sanitised Q&A at an AGM where "Oh, we won't be discussing that."
-
Unfortunately, due to a lack of business/coterie connections, I think you'll find that quite impossible. As an average rank and file supporter, unable to fork over $1000 to attend a farce of an AGM, I'm simply using the small leverage that I DO have to hopefully send a message of my dissatisfaction.

Won't do anything crazy, like cancelling membership, but will definitely be ringing up tomorrow to take it off auto-renew. If we are this shithouse next year, I'm done.
-
Oh, you'll get a response. "StandardDisgruntledEmailReplyTemplate.msg"

The issue is, who would be reading the emails? My money's on some poor work experience kid. Nobody who actually matters will ever know nor care.
