  1. Agree- and who would want to waste there time.Carlton have denied Channel 9's commentary. Stated here-http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/blues-deny-boozecruise-lost-it-a-sponsor-20100110-m0pk.html. Do not know who to believe , they both are great bending the truth, and I suppose who cares.
  2. Rumour has it, it was going to be a million or so.
  3. This seems to be correct- Mars seemed likely to sign a million dollar contract which nows seems very unlikely. Maybe the Dees can take this up.
  4. It was reported on Channel 9 news that after the Booze Boot affair that it was likely to loose a sponsorship. This is the club with a 6 and a half million debt. I believe the sponsor could be Mars .
  5. It was reported on tonights news that it is possible that Carlton could loose a major sponsorship after the Booze Bus affair
  6. Well I am one that has put what I believe are the minimum acceptable for the club going forward- how many games do you think we should win.Plese don't forget we play 16 games at the Gee.
  7. In reviewing our results in 2009 where we all know that we won 4 games and tanked for the later part of the year. In RD 1 we were beaten by North Melb by 34 points, in RD 5 were beaten by Adelaide by 17 points, RD 6 beaten by Geelong by 43 points, beaten by WC by 8 points in RD7. In RD 8 BEATEN by the Scraggers by 7 points.Rd 9 beaten by Hawthorn by 22 points. In rd 17 & 18 we were beaten by the Swans by 18 points when we were tanking, and Richmond by 4 points. And to show how well we could or can play belted Fremantle by 63 points. The above results show me that with natural improvement, allowing our players to play in their rightful positions will allow us to win at least 7 games
  8. I am of total agreement with you- with maybe a tall experienced forward as the initial requirement. However, we cannot expect, as you rightly point out that all our draft picks will work out.
  9. After reading this article TIME FOR DEMONS TO FIRE UP, I concur that this is the year for us to show something. If we languish down in either last or second last place it will be really disappointing. Need to win at least 7 games. Your thoughts?
  10. Hope they can do the same for Garland & Meeson
  11. Agree totally and with an upcoming list, keeping them is a priority notwanting to gain players that did not want to come when we wanted them.
  12. In recent years the Chris Johnson departure- being the son of Alan, training at the club since 16 and the way he left very much disappointed me. Also the surprise of Brock McLean wanting to leave .No doubt that in my opinion- Bomber Riley had been into their ears. However, the biggest departure that hurt me was Norm Smith(although not a player- the best coach ever)followed by Ron Barassi. Both decimated the club which never ever recovered.
  13. Seems to have improved in attitude since being dropped to a rookie. Hard at the ball, seems quicker and a better kick. Could make it yet. Some of us mature later than others.
  14. In my previous posts- I forgot to mention my delight to see Newton going hard at the ball-and his kicking seemed to improve dramatically. Maybe being dropped to a rookie will give him the wake up call he needed. Hope the same goes for John Meeson.
  15. Who knows what the future holds- however, it is my belief he will start in the seniors if fit enough. If not he will play at Casey until fitness allows him to play for MFC. I think he will be a sensation- possibly a football great at our club. As a youngster, the club may not play him for all games in 2010 as Yeata stated. They will monitor his fitness and progress. But over the next couple of years he will be a star- his athleticism will be unmatched not only at our own club but throughout the AFL.
  16. After seeing training today- I think we have the talent right now. No doubt Judd is a star- but you are correct Judd had the opportunity and did not take it, Johnson anted out and we virtually chased him out, McLean wanted out, we took a few minutes and said yippy- we will take pick 11- Gysberts- wait and see- he will be a ripper and a nucleus of a great midfield consisting of him,Grimes, Sylvia, Maloney, Trengove & Scully. The only problem, I see is what RR stated, we need to find the dough to keep them all.
  17. Actually I may have misheard Aaron Davey whom I was speaking to after training, I thought he called- Jamie Bennell- JB and I thought, he quoted Trengove as being JC- I even had a joke about that and said I hope he is as god as JC himself- we will win many priemerships. I may have misheard him as you rightly point out JC is very close to JT in being heard. Big Kev believes his nickname is JT. So I may need to stand to be corrected. If so ,my apologies. Actually, I don't really care if it is JC, JT ,treeners or what so ever-I just say thank God he is with us -he will be a beauty. With Grimes, Sylvia, Maloney, Trengove and Scully, becoming the nucleus of our midfield- all I can say is hallelujah. go dees- I can't wait.
  18. As usual a great report - accurate and precise.B the way WJ-Graham Kennedy lived in Frankston for many years around 30/35 years ago.
  19. TRENGOVE not TRENGOVE Sorry - I WILL CALL HIM BY HIS NICKNAME JC FROM NOW ON. Thanks for pulling me up- I did not take offence--I'd hate somone calling me JDB instead of JCB Have a great year mate- GO DEES that is the main thing.
  20. As stated in my earlier report, I spoke to Flash regarding him and he said he was returning from recovery from an elbow injury. He ran laps early then 800,400 sprints then went swimming. Bate definately looks bigger. His body seems more mature/developed.Looked great- oozed confidence
  21. Thanks- I did not recognise him.Spencer was another that I felt had mproved his bulk, kicking , fitness and speed. WOW- I CAN'T WAIT TILL THE REAL GAMES START !
  22. Also went today and echo other posters comments. Sorry no camera The most noticable absentee was Bails.Cannot remember seeing Mahoney either. The players that did not do all training included- Bate, Blease, Bruce,Garland, Gawn, Jamar, Jurrah, McNamara,Meeson,Tapscott, Wonaeamirri,Healey. Whilst Strauss and Bartram did not complete all of the last section or session of training. I have attended training at the MFC for over 40 years now and watched them consistently and thought today the atmosphere both on the ground and supporters were amazing. Some of my thoughts are: The improved kicking - both at goals and around the ground were so much improved. There training was very much different from recent years. They were using the ball in most drills and played a type of match play. Both Newton and Miller have improved there kicking dramatically. Just hope in goes into match day. Both did extra kicking after training Watts shows something but in my opinion is a long way off. The surprise to me- was the improved strength and size of Jetta. The fitness of JB- Jamie Bennell. Truscott & Trengrove , whilst already mentioned look immediate players in the seniors. Scully will be a gun. Strauss-is the biggest surprise- his dash and kicking of half back or a wing will be awesome.Maric, has filled out and like Wonaemirri will be a very dynamic small forward.Jurrah has an elbow injury or is just recovering from it. Flash told me he will be unbelievable this year.Gysberts whilst his kicking needs improvement will be right there in selection for the first game. Two other factors worth stating was the fitness and build on Sylvia-WOW.Rivers, Warnock and Frawley looks like they will be sensational down back. The voice on the ground was amazing with great encouragement coming from all- with Jones,Flash,Beamer and Greenie being very audible. The only player I do not remember being there was Morton. However, it is hard picking up all- in caps etc.. I left feeling great and it was the best New Years present going there. all be it a huge drive from Kensington. Lastly- McLean would be lucky to get a game this year due to his slowness, Chris Johnson- never along with Buckley very doubtful. Actually it is going to be very hard for the selectors now with the list they have now. Two other points are: Trengrove is nicknamed- J C & BENNELL- JB. So with my name - jayceebee- these two will be my favourie players. Gawn will be massive when he grows up. Scully looked good and Fitzpatrick has had his hair chopped very short.Leave the rest to others & Jack's report.
  23. Especially as two sooks have gone there- Johnson & McLean- whom would not get a game at Demonland in a year or two & thank God we did not pick up Roberta Warnock- she cannot get on the park.
  24. Many thks 52k2 for update at training- very much appreciated
  25. When I created this thread- these are the actual points that I was considering regarding Judd- the other main point that basically no one has commented on is the leadership of Junior McDonald. I think he has been a great leader, both on & off the field. The smarts- in suggesting grabbing Jim Stynes jumper as a motivation point was outstanding. He carries himself in a manner that will only grow Grimes etc.. into very valuable leaders. To the ones that think this thread is crap- grow up,we all can have a say.By the way- it is the terms and conditions of our site. Agree Andy??
