  1. Well said Dave. You bust your (fat) gut to get to as many games as possible from obviously a fair way away, yet people that live on the outskirts of the CBD refuse to go to our games at Etihad, or the MCG for that matter, then sit and whinge about our fixture year after year.
  2. Awesome news. (I await a gif from TSFKA)
  3. Saty, I'm curious as to what the players call you at training? Is it Saty? TDI? Pete? On a serious note... I think we should start to more formally recognise Saty's efforts. As a poster earlier said, every footy club needs people like Saty involved, and while I know some of us take the pi$$, we do appreciate any news that he filters back. It got me thinking how we could actually do something like this. When I started looking through some of Saty's training photos he posted on his Twitter account, as soon as I found a photo of the great man himself, I immediately thought of the word famous Vic Flowers (see below). Now, some of you may not know him by his correct name, however he is the leader of the Barmy Army (often referred to the name Jimmy, given his similar appearance to that of Jimmy Savile. If you've had a look at Saty's photos, we could have our very own Vic Flowers (that's not to say that you remind me of Jimmy Saville, Saty). Given the amount of muscle we at Demonland can flex, could we somehow arrange it so that Saty become the official and spiritual leader of our Demon Army? Get him dressed up is some classic retro MFC gear, get a flag that's to the total maximum allowable size, and have him attend as many games as possible to pump the crowd up? As we are hopefully starting to improve, and should win more games in the years to come, the Demon Army will continue to grow, and having an icon, similar to what Vic is to the Barmy Army, I think it would be great. Hopefully this doesn't get too close to the stuff that CS used to implement (with much negativity from many on here). Nb. Yes, I do have too much time on my hands.
  4. Can you please get a photo of him showing off his guns?
  5. I apologise for taking your thread off-topic a bit, Fifty-5. I guess I was just challenging that there should be more options other than "forward or back", such as "interchange", "substitute" or "Casey".
  6. I am done on this topic, Nutbean, but I will answer your question. Who was able to replace him? The mantra of 2014 was to not gift games to players, and they had to show consistent form at Casey to "qualify" for the seniors. I don't recall many HBF at Casey that qualified for senior selection.
  7. They left Howe back as he is a liability up forward. When you're behind, you have to kick goals to win. With Dunn, you know he'll hit 100% of the contests, with Howe, not so much. I'm spent with this topic. I think Howe is overrated, some of you don't. Nothing will change my mind other than what I see Howe do on the field. I do wish him luck in 2015 and beyond, and I sincerely hope he will prove me wrong.
  8. Not sure about anyone else, but using a position outside the Top 3 in a B&F result, especially ours over the past 7 years, contributes nothing to an argument. It'd be like me using the fact that Cross played 5 games less than Howe, and finished higher than him. And also that basically half of the Top 10 were defenders, as opposed to Hawthorn who had, at most, 3 defenders in their Top 10. Isn't our B&F voting system designed that everyone gets a vote that plays? Thus favouring players that play all 22 games. If we were a finals team and he's still in 6th spot, that's when I'll agree that he is the player that some think he is.
  9. Let's not care how we got there, let's just appreciate the destination. This is some tropical paradise through my eyes.
  10. I never thought I could love again after The Wiz left me. Thankfully I was wrong.
  11. Me too, until I found the U10 team photo from the year Hird was coaching...
  12. It will depend on what days and time they train. I'm hoping I can do as many as possible from Friday 16th. Saty - thanks for finding the information out re training times pre and post Christmas. Would love to get an itinerary of their time whilst on the Sunshine Coast.
  13. Always found it strange how in Australia we shear our sheep, but in New Zealand, they don't shear them with anyone...
  14. Not at all. Nutbean. I've merely highlighted his negatives, rather than ramping his positives. He needs to improve his worst, so that the gap between it and his best isn't as great. I look at the season highlights clip that someone posted on Youtube. Howe appeared a few times taking a screamer. There is also footage of Grimes spoiling Dangerfield. It's Grimes' play that Howe needs to add to his own highlight reel, not just big marks (a lot of them in junk time too I might add). The other thing that I am suffering from is buying in to this rumour of a potential offer from GWS for Pick 7 (or whatever it was). If we were offered that and rejected it, my expectation of Howe goes up immensely. I find it funny how some are willing to give Howe some time to develop as a HBF, now that we have decent coaches, yet someone like Terlich, who I think will make a better HBF, isn't allowed the same luxury.
  15. Saty - any chance you can find out what the next few weeks looks like leading up to and including the Maroochydore trip? When do they stop for Christmas? When do they resume? When are they kicked off AAMI? What are their plans for the Maroochydore trip? Cheers.
  16. If he doesn't win it this year, it'll be through not playing enough games. That means he gets my money in 2016.
  17. It's the so called "easiest position on the oval". How long do you think is fair for him to learn the position/role? I'll give him until the end of the 2015 season. That'll be one full preseason and two entire seasons.
  18. It's called expectation. They (Carlton supporters) expect that their team will win enough games to play finals every year, and have a shot at a flag every year. When it doesn't happen, they get nasty. They don't go in to the start of the season hoping to win more than 4 games. They rarely use excuses. I say this as I have a number of Carlton friends/associates. All from different circles, but all with the same expectation going in to a new season.
  19. Too light for the "Gibson" role, and not enough smarts as a defender to play it either. If he worked his bum off, he's best suited as a HFF. There are areas of his game that he needs to focus on to be a lock for that position, but I think it's a role that would suit him the best, and one that is most natural for him.
  20. Gee, Heeney and Hartung are juicy odds for mine.
  21. I got to this line in the article and my concerns for Ablett were immediately erased... "The average six-year career will generally take a young man from 18 through to about 24..." A career as an Actuary beckons - the man is a mathematical genius.
  22. You lost me at this point. To be fair, I did read the article (thankfully I didn't know who wrote it otherwise I wouldn't have put my eyes through the pain). Tom has shun the spotlight on JH for 2015. Could be a career defining season, so I will watch with anticipation.
  23. Am I the only one salivating over the prospect of Garlett following Dawes around all game? Sure, the combo of Dawes/Hogan excites, but I'm looking forward to the Dawes/Garlett combo equally, if not more, in 2015.
  24. In Maroochydore between 12th - 22nd January.
