  1. For all those mentioning Koby Stevens, just gonna throw in another reason he may not be be getting games at West Coast. I know a group of 10 or 11 guys who've all played footy with Koby down in Bairnsdale. They were ectastic when he got drafted because it meant he was leaving town and the club. They described him as 'The world's biggest [censored]'. Apparently stupidly arrogant, showoff and didn't like coaches telling him what to do. The boys have now developed some kind of drinking game in his honour. I haven't worked out the rules yet, but I know it involves shots if Koby gets a game (something about trying to forget that it happened?)
  2. this thread is giving me heart flutters. nawwww, look at you all, sharing the love. I have enjoyed seeing Morton give it a go. I have the feeling he has instructions to be the guy to receive a quick release from a hardball get. I've seen him a few times hovering near packs on the ground, but not getting in there, and first thought obviously was, softie, get yourself in there, but then I noticed that he was always glancing up the field, as if he was checking what he was going to kick to when the ball came out. I reckon that's his instruction as our 'outside' player Next trick Neeldy: teach him to tackle.

  4. yeah, he did say that the players were well looked after by the coaching staff, but that he was having his private time with Davey... my question when I heard that wasn, how did that start up? who asked who? It'd probably say a lot about the relationships at the club, and whether Malthouse has a keen eye down there, or if Neeld hooked them up together, or if Davey was looking for someone. yeah.... interesting. But I definitely agree, I enjoyed his commentating. Whoever said he knows the common game, spot on. He knows what the fans see, and isn't afraid after how ever many years to say what he's actually thinking.
  5. I feel much better in my assertions now that I know its not just me noticing.
  6. Now I need to know if I'm the only one who gets seriously frustrated with Brian Taylor's commentating. Last nights game between West Coast and Hawks, I couldn't believe how many ridiculous comments he'd make, totally irrelevent to football. I'm all for a good, rounded commentator, but seriously annoying! I was sure Richo was getting frustrated with him, right from before the game when BT contradicted him a couple of times, then during the game when Richo made a good point about forwards marking with arms outstretched giving a chance of a free kick, BT just couldn't get it and would just mock him instead. Cometti? Mcaveney? even Sandy Roberts, where are you?
  7. When melbournefc website had this article telling people to vote, my first thought was that it was a joke. I was at the game and didn't notice this mark. Albeit, i was at the opposite corner of the ground. Good on him! I'll laugh so hard if Bartram gets the win though... not exactly known as a high flyer
  8. Why? who go get my hopes up like this again?
  9. I read this and all I could say was 'wow'. And i'm sticking by that sentiment. How is this week real?
  10. Some where seriously underestimate the value of some efforts and stamp the title 'awful' on a game far too easily. I was at the game, and actually enjoyed the first half when we had targets up forward, it killed me we couldn't take marks, but still, I could see what Neeld was doing. Clark was a good target, but like a couple have said, was often outnumbered, especially later in the game when Howe seemed to dissapear a bit more. Martin made a good target on the wing and took a couple of decent contested marks too. I think later in the game as the forward half became barer, as numbers went up to stop the leakage, the rot multiplied and our midfielders just didn't have it in them to get it past 3 defenders to often, a lone Clark in the 50. point being, Don't beat on Clark, he didn't have delivery or support. No position for Green anymore, Davey only showed flashes of something, Watts needs to relearn how to tackle, put Blease forward and tell him to lock the footy in there, and could someone please win a clearance?
  11. I'd say fairly expensive decoys, and rather unfair to the boys themselves to pull them out of their lives over there, where they are probably working and having to take time off, to fly them over here, drill them with training they've never experienced before, then send them back without being drafted. I know I'd be pretty peed off.
  12. oh here we go. You're looking for a reaction right?? There's quite a few people here who'll give quite a few reasons why this is the worst idea of the century. Have a look, its all laid out in another thread somewhere. I'm personally one who doesnt mind the idea, although Melbourne now has their ears full of talls. And anyway, it would mean Fevola would play time at Casey, taking the place of Fitzpatrick and Cook again, and Mr Neeld won't like that.
  13. I sometimes teach some youth leadership training stuff, and one of the essential things is that you can't lead someone, where you haven't been yourself. Its ridiculous for me to think a guy my age, could be considered to lead MFC. And really, its not because he's 20 or 21 or anything, its because he hasn't experienced and dealt with all the stuff that is going to confront him. At best he can keep things even, he cant advance on anything, because he's still experiencing everything for the first time himself. He hasn't held a midfield up and battled the injuries like Moloney, he hasn't become all-australian and become a premier player like Frawley, he hasn't worked so hard on his game he's gone from a nobody to all-aussie like Jamar, etc etc. He needs to have the experience first.
  14. i posted somewhere else that blease tweeted about training with the forwards..... he's another fast small whos had a bit of time in defence to hopefully get him aware of such things, and could do some damage up forward. No one else is screaming out for the role. Using a medium forward in the role is never going to be a great plan.... no one has that freakishness of an Eddy Betts for instance.
  15. for what its worth, Blease tweeted today about training with the forwards. Surprise 2012 crumber??
  16. who said $30,000 extra for rent? What kind of place are you renting? all aboard the $100 a week.... that'd be sweet. But seriously, chuck that in as an extra for 18,19,20 year olds and its a big bonus. I wouldn't mind it myself. Rent's the worst.
  17. Massive shame, only journo I actually listened to.
  18. This name made my day yesterday..... and then it made my day today again. Please draft him.
  19. Garfield ey.... I used to live there. Was there the other day, great little place. Good footy club.
  20. for what its worth, Frawley tweeted yesterday about how hard this guy was training. Apparently their living together while he trains with the dees
  21. No wonder Bate is gunning for a midfield position. Our myriad of medium forwards seem to be fighting for a couple less places in the forward line to last year. But otherwise, this messes with my mind when I try to predict our starting team in 2012. Obviously Neeld wants him to play straight away, but forward or back? instead of martin? martin plays permanent defence? one of our 'tall' defenders go forward? I JUST DON'T KNOW ANYMORE.
  22. So being in a christian home makes you soft? Geez, maybe thats why I'll never play AFL.
  23. I think Nicholson would pip Evans. Worth more to the tam if he can play the Back pocket/flank position.
