Players to target at the end of the year
Tatu replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
He is a good player and i wouldn't be disappointed if he came to the MFC, i just think the asking price would be too high..I'd consider Levi Casboult from the blues, for our third rounder... There is something about the way he plays, that makes me think he will dominate matches in a couple of years.. When he's playing well, he has on field presence .. Could be a handy Chris Dawes replacement... I'd also consider picking up Matthew Watson as a rookie, if they delist him this year... -
Players to target at the end of the year

wow... This is a very helpful list... Thanks for posting this information...From this list, the players that stand out to me are.... Nat Fyfe Adam Goodes Tom Mitchell Andrew Gaff Shaun Burgoyne Harley Bennell Matthew Pavlich Corey Enright James Kelly Levi Casboult -
TBO i dont think we can do without him... We would be relying too much on Dunn to remain in AA form and for our back six to stay injury free... Frawley is a huge asset and he will be missed when he leaves...

we have lost some solid players in the last few years, but i think losing Frawley will be the biggest...losing him is going hurt.. He's hardly ever injured, he gives his all in every game he plays, he's considered one of the comps best full backs and playing for us the last few years, he's had more practise than any other full back in the comp... Its why he has attracked the interest from other clubs and why he has already agreed on a move... The price and destination is too large to turn down... I'm really hoping that im wrong here, but its seems the most likely outcome... I'll be happy to take any compensation pick that comes our way(the pick after our first rounder?)... But if this was a trade, I would be asking for more... Also, i think he has been good enough to let the club know... Its why we have been playing him forward and why we can confidently offer a solid contract to Hulk Hogan... If he was really waiting to see if we have improved, he would have signed on by now... Jeez i hope this article is correct and not just another journo jumping the gun, extending Hogans contract will lessen the pain of losing Chip...

lol... I wouldn't say conspiracy... I'd say its more like a performance, a stage show, kind of like the WWF.... Where the results are neatly package in a box with a bow on it, made ready for your consumption...

pfft... It was the favourable umpiring that won Collingwood that game... The unpaid 50 to Dawes and the disallowed Vince goal killed it for me... Its truly amazing how the AFL have managed to wash this away... They pretended to inquire about the umpiring in the media this week and [censored] our game plan, deflecting away from what we all know happened... The AFL media machine were on the front foot here and they work some real magic... Wow... SEN and the Herald sun, is pretty much an AFL puppet show..This game has been corrupted by money and back room deals for years, the last legitimate premiers were North Melbourne in 1999.. We will never see another AFL contest that hasn't been messed with in some way, so money can reach the right people and the right result is rendered favourable to the interests of the AFL..... Our only hope now is that the MFC become financially strong enough to by us a premiership...

having him for a year couldn't hurt... He would be the perfect playing coach for Trengove...

totally agree...

i agree... Our Defencive efforts were awesome, we were controlling most of the play today.... When this team learns how and when to switch between fast ball movement and the defencive shut down... Wow we will be a strong team... I saw a lot of positives today...we had them on toast, in general play for nearly the whole first half... We looked skill, we were using the ball well and we shut down Collingwoods push to raise the tempo and regain control... That backward type of tempo footy kept us in the game... I couldn't careless about how many goals were scored, we were controlling them... It looked like we were going to over run them aventually... I thought we lost the control just near the end of the second, when the magpies received a series of favorable decisions from the umpires... Jeez... It looked suss and i think the umpiring of this match should be investigated... Its almost like the umpires regain them control of the match... after that our composure seemed to drop away, we stay with them right up until the last quarter. but just when we would wrestle back control, the umpires would drop in another poor/suss decision... Pendelbury attacks and wrestles Vince to the ground and receives a free? Dawes having a set shot at goal and a Collingwood player just jogs in his way? Vince received a hand ball from Jetta and kicks a goal, umpire calls the ball back and disallows the goal? Williams use his head to milk a free in defence, which should have been holding the ball? Elliot consistently jumping into(targeting) our players in marking contests and doesn't get hands to the Ball? there are more, though id have to watch the replay to list them all... Put all these poor decisions together and they'll cost any club the match... The last few goals the scored were just junk time goals, when the match had already been decided... Today we were openly and blatantly robbed by the umpires!!!

I would claim all three of these players in a heart beat... Imagine Cotchin or Deledio in a Roos lead Demons team...
-
lol... I'd say the umpiring brings the game into disrepute weekly It might have something to do with the way their x-players and media bunnies, publicly jab us any chance they get...

lol... So your insider doesn't consider Port a chance? Its a Port v Sydney grand final for me... this is still one of the poorer trade decisions we made, in the last few years... Keeping Jamar/Spence over Martin was a bad trade move...

surely even you can see the difference in his numbers? He has definitely improved his game and if he finds consistent form, he will be given a go in the seniors...Not all the players sent to Casey are on their way out the door, some are there to work on things that will improve their game... We cant afford to have players drop in and out of matches... Sam has had to redevelop his game, build his endurance and then play his role on the field... His skill set is game breaking and easily of AFL quality, but you know this... If he can use that skill set defensively, he will be a very dominate player for us... Sometimes it can take a very long time, for players to learn the game at senior level... But some players can turn things around... Dunn and Pedo are great examples of this... Three years ago most here would have sold Dunn for a packet of chips... Jeez... I'm glad the club didn't see him that way... With the way this group has been coached and the way this club has been run in the past 6/7 years... Its really no surprise that our players are behind in their development... Our club took its eye off the ball, when we where heart beats away from extinction... We where all sold a desperate dream, so that we could fund the clubs survival... They built up our hopes off the back of high end draft picks and in the process they club destroyed some AFL careers... Was this the plan all along? who knows... They did manage to restore our clubs future... But the cost cutting and cheap player development plans, have cost us on field...

i have to agree here... Jones doesn't seem the type of person, who would hold his club to ransom... If he did leave, he'd be the first captain to leave their club for free agent money... Im not sure Jones would want to be remembered that way... Personally i think Trengove will be harder to keep... After the way our club has handled his career so far, I wouldn't blame him if he choose to go back home...

losing Clark, Jurrah, Aussie, Scully and Sylvia, kind of takes the sting out of losing players... Two years ago i would have been freaking out about losing Frawley.... but now I'm not fussed, i guess my focus has changed a bit... Though I still admirer individual flair, like Jurrah's mark of the year or Sammy Blease's blistering runs through the midfield... These moments are great to watch, but really they are only moments in games... Modern Footy requires a full team effort for four quarters of footy... We can no longer rely on individual players to win us matches anymore... Look at Hawthorne's start to the year without Buddy Franklin or Geelong's premiership after losing Gary Ablett jnr... Its the leadership and direction of the club thats important now days... Our old fashioned culture of relying on heroes, is why we stagnated at the bottom for so long... Thankfully Peter Jackson and Paul Roos have set a modern direction for this club, a team first direction... A direction that the premiership clubs have been doing for years... Losing Frawley or any other player is no longer as big an issue, as it would have been ten years or so ago... The stronger clubs don't build premieship teams around great players anymore... they build game plans, a team first culture and strong leadership... Oh and they build money.... Losing Frawley won't change the direction of our club...

if its money he wants, he'll go to the highest bidder... If its success he wants, then he'll go to Sydney... Ether way, i can't see him staying...

id like to say that its ridiculous that people would think this way... But in reality, your probably spot on...Its a shame really... Coaching isnt a playing role... so logically anyone with the right knowledge, should be able to perform this role... Id say a female Coach would add a whole other dimension to coaching, kind of like the difference between a father and a mother... My father was a softly spoken guy, I could get away with a lot more when he was in charge... But jeez... My mother farout!! there was no breaking rules when she was around (the Wooden Spoon)...lol.. So as far as respect from the players, id say the right women would be able to command it... Women make up a little over 50% of our population... surely out of that, there are some women who know the game well enough to match it with the blokes... Who knows? The greatest AFL coach ever, might be a women... I can see it really working well, if we can all get passed the silly sexist embarassing primitive notions that a coach of men must be a man... If anything.... Id say mothering figure would command more respect from the players... Just because men have bully there way into the highest positions, over many generations (leadership roles) doesn't mean they are the best for those roles...

If we use our first round, I'd like to pick up Brayshaw... Im not sure we'll have the juicy pick to offer like last year.... but if we can do another Tyson type trade, id be hoping that Tom Lamb or Jared Pickett slips through to our pick... Both would be a nice pick up, Pickett's pace looks game breaking and Lambs composure/ball handling skills are awesome... Im leaning toward Lamb though I'm happy with what ever we get...
