  1. Look at the Crows though. Lost players to expansion as well as Gunston to the Hawks and Tippett to Swans. Kicked out of the first two rounds of the draft due to the Tippett salary cap issue. Premiership favourites.
  2. If we managed to pull off a win tomorrow it would be one of the clubs best wins in recent times, comparable to mid-season 98 when we rolled the Eagles in Perth with a team of young kids.
  3. I'm 35 OD so I hope I may be around in 50 years though who knows, modern medicine is pretty good
  4. Definitely us
  5. In fairness to TGR that was just incredibly bad timing
  6. Jay Viney Brian Stynes
  7. Speak for yourself OD, I've still got years ahead of me (I hope) Really you don't believe ANYONE could be that incompetent for that long hmmm
  8. One can only hope OD
  9. "More porn on SBS" usually gets a run
  10. Their home ground probably had something to do with it too - whereas Princes Park could hold up to 45k and Vic Park 35?k Brunswick St would've struggled to hold 20k I would've thought. After moving from their they became nomads, playing far from their spiritual home on the other side of the Yarra at Junction Oval, then the other side of the Maribyrnong later on at Western Oval with stints at Vic Park & Princes Park in between.
  11. So sad to lose your father at any time, particularly at such a young age and when you're on the other side of the country. Hope Jesse and his family can get through this miserable time, I have no doubt the club will allow him the time he needs.
  12. There were far more than 20k Melbourne supporters there.
  13. Yeah there is also a version at the start of "the Red & the Blue" demons history DVD but no idea where you could get it. There might be something in the credits though.
  14. People need to stop worrying about what he isn't and focus on what he is. You want to see a world where Hogan isn't in the red and blue, look at our game against Freo. All at sea with no focal point. He is the anchor of our forward line and is going through a rough patch but he's only played 2 seasons and 3 games. His best is match winner material. Supporyets really need to stop looking at him and wishing he was Jonathon Brown or Wayne Carey and support the fact that he's still a developing KPF finding his way in the game.
  15. Fitzroy is the weird one - dominated the comp from its inception until the mid-20s. Massive rivalry with Collingwood and another with Carlton. Obviously only one flag post 1922 hurt (they had 7 to that point, the most in the comp) but you would've thought they'd have consolidated a bit of a supporter base by then. Collingwood did off the back of their early success (11 flags to 1936 and only 4 since) however I guess they have still been a powerhouse onfield in terms of finals/GF if not premierships which would help explain it. I think the Saints have a lot of dormant support just a culture of failure (27 wooden spoons and 1 flag) has crippled them. Also the fact it's impossible to build a massive membership/support base out of Docklands.
  16. They're still there, standing room section Punt Rd end. Annoying as hell and massive bunch of feral bogans.
  17. Would the Queen's Birthday game have more potential if we alternated home team with the Pies? Most Collingwood supporters don't see it as anything special because they see it as a charity game for us. If we alternated home teams so that we are home ANZAC Eve one year, Queens Bday the next they may have more stake to help build it with us into a legitimate blockbuster.
  18. Even if Spencer didn't cop an injury it was still the wrong decision.
  19. Salem should've had a free kick for a push in the 3rd after having a shot near the 50 following a handball from Melksham
  20. I want to "like" these posts but apparently I'm over my 24 hour allotment (seriously mods what's up with that? Happens after every game win or lose. Why is there a limit on "likes"??) People need to chill out for a bit and realise we're on the right track. I posted on BF I think Melbourne supporters have gotten so used to complaining (legitimately) over the last 10 (50?) years that they don't really know how else to react to the slightest adversity. Look at the bigger picture people and focus on the positives of which there are many. The comp is very even, if we can snag a couple of wins over the next 6 weeks we'll be in a position to make a run at the finals.
  21. I didn't have as much issue with that as I did with the two occassions Riewoldt contested against TMac and Frost kept his feet and kicked easy goals out the back. Players get out on their own sometimes when you play zone defense, that's understandable. But losing a 2:1 contest and conceding a goal twice is unforgivable.
  22. Being there home game definitely helped with the crowd. Hopefully they turn out next year for our home game, regardless of form. MCC was packed though and predominantly Demons. Richmond had most of the rest of level 1 due to reserved members areas. The southern stand seemed predominantly Richmond but as I was on level 1 AFL members was hard to see what the top of the southern looked like. If we can draw that crowd for our home game next year and not drop back to 65k because their members don't get membership access then we're on to a winner.
  23. Yep only criticism I'd make is we need to use the angles more instead of going directly backwards. Collingwood 2010/11 were expert at this, used triangulated handball from stoppages to cut through the opposition
  24. Definitely, couldn't understand why he didn't keep running. Shortly after JKH I think it was was running down the same flank and burnt Hogan on a lead when he was well in front of his man. Instead elected to bomb it to Garlett in the square. Two crucial errors when we desperately needed a score to stay in the game.
  25. We made Rance look good. After Smith went down he basically was playing a floating sweeper role and we kept kicking it directly down his throat. Rance is one of the most annoying players at the moment, acts like such a goody two shoes prissy but takes cheap shots and ducks/dives looking for frees. That elbow to Watts' head last year wasn't out of character, look at the way he uses his knee to hurt the opposition when crashing a pack. Pretty sure he was the one who injured Smith doing that too.
