Yeah I think it was closer to 30k/55k but the southern stand was predominantly Richmond.

Just as I felt better about the future of the team after the Geelong loss than I did after the Carlton win, I felt better after last night than I did against Freo last week. Of course in footy the only thing that matters is results, however there also needs to be a holistic perspective about how the team plays and where it's going. I'm confident in this team moving forward, when guys like Oliver, Petracca, Hunt, Salem and Hogan have more games, more pre-seasons and more experience under their belts. By the way Hibberd was outstanding and Hunt is getting close to my favourite player. Just needs a little more composure but his line breaking is something we've cried out for for a decade.

I agree however at least we would've won that contest (or had a better chance to anyway) and then rely on our runners to win the ball forward if centre.
-
You've got no idea. Please explain how the team played without heart. We were manic for 3/4s then ran out of legs.
-
You must have watched a different game to me.

That's great. But he can't take a chest mark, can't kick a goal and can't keep his feet. He's VFL at best. Kent would've been dangerous around the fall of the ball last night and could've jagged a couple of goals that may have been the difference
-
Agree on both counts. People act like we got demolished by 10 goals. We got pipped by 13 points after being overrun due to running out of legs due to injuries. They battled manfully but couldn't hang on.
-
What do you reckon the split was? Felt like 25-30k Melbourne and 55-60k Richmond. I was in the southern stand though so surrounded by Tigers supporters.

We need composure. Too much bombing away. One of the rare times I can remember us lowering our eyes ANB picked out Petracca in traffic and he dobbed a goal. Too many times we just kicked it on top of the forwards heads, making the defenders job the easiest in the world. Plus no crumbers at the foot of the contest or out the back meant we didn't get reward for effort. The effort is there though and the rewards will come. I wouldn't rule out finals this year just yet. It will be hard but it's only round 5.

Yep every kick out we had in the last quarter went to the southern stand side. Unfortunately straight to Harmes and co who were undersized. Hogan should've been up the ground to make himself a target. Obviously he was hoping we'd get out the back and we'd need him at high half forward but after halfway through the quarter it should've been obvious we were struggling to get the ball out the back. Anyway I think it was our tactic to play the southern stand wing and limit their ability to interchange as we were already limited. Unfortunately the damage had already been done, we probably should've used that tactic from 1/4 time.

Finally, some sanity. Thank you.

Jetta corked his thigh and was off for the start of the last quarter. I thought he did ok otherwise.

You are a dead set fool. You can question their talent, or their decision making, but questioning their heart? They gave it their all tonight, seriously some supporters are just whinging [censored]
-
Yeah he led and was constantly ignored. Then when they did kick to him they sat it on top of his head. He was also being scragged all night long, got one free kick but could've been a handful more.
-
He was on one leg the whole night mate, give the kid a break.
-
Injuries and selection. Kent instead of JKH and Pedersen instead of Smith and we win.
-
They paused the GWS/Swans round 1 two years ago due to lightning. Think there was a half hour/40 minute delay

TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PREVIEW - ROUND 5
Dr. Gonzo replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Their midfield aren't the pushovers they have been and their small forwards will trouble our backline, especially in the wet. We can't pissfart around with the ball across half back like last week, have to move it quickly forward to put them up see pressure. -
TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PREVIEW - ROUND 5
Dr. Gonzo replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I wouldn't care if they did, would make the victory even sweeter to see them whinging about might have beens. I haven't wanted to win a game this badly since we beat Collingwood in 2015. -
He probably could however concussion/brain injuries are usually the domain of neurologists while neurosurgeons specialise in spinal injuries.

4-15 in games under a goal
-
Hopefully Hawthorn joins them tomorrow
-
Because most people won't pay as close attention as you or I. If they flick to ch7 to watch the footy and it's not on, they'll just assume it's a Foxtel game.

How the [censored] did we lose to these Fremantle idiots last week? They're rubbish

TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PREVIEW - ROUND 5
Dr. Gonzo replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Someone will make way for him and if it's not Melksham its out of Stretch, ANB, Vince, Harmes and JKH
