Goody Presser (10/4)
How about performing to a standard where it's impossible to drop you or alternatively showing your wares for prospective buyers in the offseason? Some pride in your own performance? These excuses for guys on a few hundred grand are laughable.

We don't have to rebuild we just need to add some class/pace.

Yeah we do apparently

Alternatively they've been building from the inside out. Now we've got the grunt sorted we can draft the polish. We tried the other way round previously and it was a disaster

You been watching this year?

Dees honesty session.
I've been rewatching the Sopranos and watched this one the other day. My god I was in tears, what a brilliant show. I forgot it was just as much a comedy as anything else.

Tanking scandal documents
I don't buy it. Bailey would've got the job partly on the back of his strategy to "rebuild the list" with everything that goes along with that. We got screwed in 2007 by Carlton tanking the Kreuzer Cup, we got screwed by the rule changes that would've seen us draft Watts AND NicNat in 2008 and most Melbourne supporters and the FD knew what the goal was in 2009. Its disingenuous to claim it was a "disgrace" in hindsight, Melbourne supporters would've been ropeable if we didn't secure picks 1 & 2 in 2009 by winning a meaningless game or 2. We all thought we were recruiting Hodge and Judd to set up the premiership midfield for the next 10 years. Some of the things they refer to as evidence of tanking (playing players out of position, sending players off for surgery, being extra cautious with slightly injured players) has been happening forever and a day even before priority draft picks. It's called intelligent list management, Sheedy was doing it since the 80s.

POSTGAME: Rd 03 vs Essendon
No runners in general play exacerbates having Lewis our as an onfield organiser.

POSTGAME: Rd 03 vs Essendon
They can both take contested marks across half forward, something we desperately lack at the moment. Melksham and Petracca took a couple each in the 2nd quarter and we got on a bit of a roll.

POSTGAME: Rd 03 vs Essendon
There is some truth in what you've written but you've gone to the other extreme in completely disregarding the good form and progress we made last year. People don't like hearing it but we are still a young team, especially our core group. This year is a write off for me but I'm still optimistic about the team in the long term.

POSTGAME: Rd 03 vs Essendon
We can blame the umpires but they were pretty terrible all night for both teams. The turning point for me was Hunt and in particular Harmes missing sitters in the 3rd quarter. Harmes misses and they take it down and kick a goal instead of 2 goals the margin is 4 goals.

Tanking scandal documents
Who cares? Teams tank for draft picks in any sport in the world. I supported it then and I would again if the situation arose. Difference between us and Carlton? The Blues have no issue with doing what needs to be done and have for decades.

POSTGAME: Rd 02 vs Geelong
I know noone wants to hear it, but we are still a young side. On the coverage last night they said we fielded the 2nd youngest side in round 1 (behind Good Coast I assume?) I'm as impatient as anyone for success but it's not this year or bust. This team has been built for the long haul.

POSTGAME: Rd 02 vs Geelong
We just couldn't buy a goal and they kicked one every time they went forward. We actually dominated the game from midway through the 2nd until midway through the 3rd but only kicked one goal. We had something like 20 inside 50s in a row! They then take it down and kick 4 goals from 4 inside 50s and the games done. The result is disappointing but it's not the end of the world. We get a chance to reset against the Bombers on Friday who have enough problems of their own. People need to have some faith, far too many just want to get stuck in and jump off the minute things look too hard.

What to do with Petracca?
He needs to play primarily as a mid. We have enough forwards and his creativity kicking into the forward 50 is sorely needed. Probably won't happen this year on the back of an interrupted preseason but he is definitely not a bust.
