  1. Up to 2018 he was competing with Hogan and TMac for a spot. Last year he was given two runs of games and was dropped and/or injured. This year they waited too long to play him but got him in the side after 4 or 5 games. I doubt he'll be dropped anytime soon considering his form this season and the significant drop off of TMac. Wallace is partially right, he's only a few weeks too late. The only way we have really stunted his growth is by playing him in the ruck pre-season when Gawn was injured and not playing him earlier this year.
  2. Nah we just wouldn't hear from him for 4 years. The 5th year "what happened? Can't win the 5th to break the record huh?"
  3. Maybe it's worth remembering that before being so forceful with your opinions next time?
  4. We will never trade Viney and he will never walk in FA. I can't believe some think it is a genuine possibility, he is red and blue through and through.
  5. I think it's robbing Peter to pay Paul a little. I'm not against the idea but Viney is fantastic in the middle and up until the Adelaide game was clearly performing better than Oliver this year. Oliver has stepped it up but Viney almost singlehandedly willed us over the line against the Lions. We do need a point of difference in the middle but we could just as easily use Petracca as the "outside" midfielder delivering the ball instead of winning the contest. The problem for me isn't Viney, the problem is Brayshaw's inability to play any other role. If he's as good on the outside as those who want him in the middle think then he should be perfectly suited to play the wing opposite Langdon on the other side. The fact he hasn't been able to own that position is a detriment to himself. I'm for whatever makes the team better overall so if that means Viney as a pressure forward I'm all for it. I'm just not sure it will work out but it's worth giving it a shot.
  6. That's because he was played in the ruck through the preseason, he should've been played at full forward trying to develop his game.
  7. IN: Gawn Viney Lockhart Bennell OUT: TMac Jones Harmes Vandenberg
  8. The holding the ball to TMac which resulted in his goal another
  9. Yep I'm not worried about his kicking. The big question mark over him was his ability to stick marks and hit packs. He's doing that now and I'm confident the goals will come. He's already averaging 2 a game this year which is a handy return, if he pushes up to 3 or more a game that's Coleman Medal territory in this day and age.
  10. Plus without De Goey, Howe, Treloar and probably Pendlebury we really should out them away if we're fair dinkum
  11. Loving the WEEEEEEED at the moment. Doing great work, crashing packs, taking marks. He'll get on top of the goal kicking soon enough and then look out
  12. With Bennells history of calf injuries it doesn't surprise me he has been rested off a 4 day break
  13. We play into the "small club" mindset by not challenging these decisions. As above we didn't even challenge the Moloney one!
  14. You have to penalise the action not the consequence. If a tackle is dangerous/sling it has the capacity to knock someone out regardless of whether it actually does or not
  15. Yes they did and then a few weeks later he did another sling tackle and got off again.
  16. The dinky kicks would be ok going inside 50, short passes to set up set shots at goal
  17. Exactly the Absolute Farce League rolls on. It's a massive jocks club, if you're not one of the popular ones you get hung out to dry. No way Dusty, Cotchin, Pendlebury, Fyfe, Neale etc etc get 4 weeks for the same incident. Only some relative no name like ANB because the AFL can be seen to be tough on "dangerous tackles". The club should challenge on the grounds the Tribunals decision was excessive and refer to previous incidents as precedence. He didn't even have both arms pinned which is usually the litmus test for dangerous sling tackles.
  18. Surely the AFL wouldn't have double standards? I mean if a player like Trent Cotchin bumped someone like Dylan Shiel in the head in a Preliminary Final there is no way the AFL would let them off so they could play in the Grand Final
  19. I don't think Praha was saying we should trade Oliver. He was only stating what they would be worth in a trade
  20. You don't let a player like Viney walk. Ludicrous suggestion
  21. He's a forward flank type player. Roos tried to mould him into a half back thinking he could be our Hodge styoe quarterback setting up play with his kicks but I think he's wasted back there. Get him up the ground, setting up our inside 50s and pressing forward for goals as he has good goal sense. His tackling is pretty good too and I reckon he would improve our inside 50 retention.
  22. We can chuck in both Wagners as a sweetener
  23. This ones up there with the Somerton Man in terms of South Australian mysteries
