  1. I'm pretty sure they do have a GA section its just not very large. If Melbourne had 60k members we could theoretically make them all reserved seating and have no GA at our home games either (when you exclude MCC/AFL Members reserves)
  2. Welcome to politics - you never heard of "pork barreling"?
  3. It's their home ground, why should they accommodate opposition supporters?
  4. Maybe he's put a ridiculous price on his head because he doesn't want to leave Collingwood
  5. Why? He has a 2 year contract on big money. He can keep his current salary as well as his spot on an AFL list, he doesn't have to sacrifice.
  6. I assumed we would use the pick we get from GWS for Preuss
  7. Maybe he will be ok but the problem is our forward structure is deplorable and one of the worst coached areas of our side. Our forwards do not know how to create space, how to work for each other, how to set up and play as a unit. Stafford does not have the experience to teach that particularly with Brown coming in fresh, Weideman needing to take the next step and Kossie needing guidance if he is to become a key part of our team moving forward. Instead of someone with experience and a fresh perspective we have just moved one of our existing staff sideways. Similar to the "review" of 2019 there is hardly any new blood in at all, all just shuffling deckchairs. The proof of the pudding will be in the eating though and ultimately the results early next season will tell us if this has been a success or not. No second chances, if we don't improve in 2021 (and by improve I mean show real evolution in our gameplan and structures and a dedication to playing every minute of every game at the required effort) Goodwin will be done and so will the rest of them bar Yze I would imagine.
  8. I don't like it. The structure seems wrong and there's hardly any fresh blood (Yze the exception). We need to refresh our coaching structure, we need a real forwards coach not a makeshift one who has been moved sideways. I'm not really sold on Chaplin either, he's never filled me with much confidence but I guess the defence performed well this year whether that was on him or the playing personnel is to be seen. Mahoney has gone from being in the race for CEO to having his role split in half and given a token task sitting on the committee to sort out the new base. If he's not up to the role of GM of Football then move him on for someone who is up to it. Richardson has been appointed to the other half of the role by the mere fact he was already contracted so we had to do something. The club needs to be aiming for top 4 next year, anything below top 6 is another fail. This "review" does not fill me with any confidence whatsoever.
  9. How much is Daniher getting from the Lions? Chip was given a big contract which is why we got band 1 compo
  10. Geelong have 3 first round picks don't they? Probably can work a trade for a player with one to a 3rd club.
  11. Overrated because he's at the Pies. Still nothing special.
  12. I'm not that sad he's gone to the Cats. I don't want us to be a super plan for past it players.
  13. I can't believe anyone cares about the name, of all the things ...
  14. Hopefully they do it again this offseason, was a great insight despite the detractors
  15. I guess we have different definitions of A graders.
  16. Back when teams had around 15-20 tackles a game.
  17. Fritsch will never be an A grader
  18. I love Weid and think he is developing nicely but I would take Brown over him every day of the week for 2021. That said I think they will play well in the same forwardline together with LJ playing a roaming role pushing up across half forward/wing If anyone's position is in danger in the forwardline it would be Fritsch for mine. I would prefer a Brown/Weid/LJ forwardline over Weid/LJ/Fritsch.
  19. Exactly especially considering the quality of the competition. Geelong is playing off in the GF this weekend FFS!
  20. Exactly. The core of the team was the same but two years later they had a flag, a prelim finish and 8 AA's.
  21. That was in the mid 80s and is the reason they admitted west coast and Brisbane at $4 million each. Realistically though while being "technically" insolvent the majority of clubs were not in danger of being wound up. Media rights boomed in the two and a half decades following which would have happened regardless of whether the AFL gave lucrative fixtures to Carlton, Essendon, Collingwood or not Two clubs can make an argument for turning things around financially without AFL assistance - the Hawks and the Bulldogs. The Hawks did so on the back of two eras of success (70s/80s and 2008-15), selling games to Tassie and mega pokies deals. The Dogs did it on the back of 2016 and some favourable financial deals with the local council. Even then it is uncertain whether the Dogs off field success is sustainable. I guess Geelong could be put in that bracket too however the same applies, a prolonged era of success and favourable financial deals with local cou cold and state and federal government's (due to having marginal electorates).
