  1. Loved your comments on ANB @binmaniI couldn't agree more.
  2. These are the games we live for as supporters. 2nd v 3rd. Prime time home game. Against an arch enemy. Let's pack the G in red and blue. If you don't you'll be sorry you missed it I guarantee.
  3. They're not clubs, they're franchises.
  4. Signed a 2 year extension to end of 2024.
  5. It's one thing to know and not discuss it because you're playing to your audience and aiming for more easily digestible emotive discussion. It's another thing altogether to just dismiss it in the face of evidence. Why do they think club's pay and give so much control to the fitness staff and "phys edders"? There must be something in it ....
  6. From memory there is a maximum width but not length - comes from the formative years of the sport when they used to play games in the paddock outside the MCG (often with giant trees in the middle of the field).
  7. Both the Kangaroos and Dogs have looked at playing games at Geelong previously but the AFL wouldn't let them. Kangas also wanted to sell a home game to the Eagles (like we did to Brisbane in the early 2000s) and AFL said no.
  8. What don't they believe? That club's do it? Or that it can impact players performance on gameday due to fatigue? Because reading the article by Cam Mooney posted earlier certainly refutes that.
  9. Absolute fruitcakes who run this stuff. "Don't shower so you smell manly" 🤣🤣 [censored] nuffies, they sound like a bunch of incels.
  10. Oh that was bloody brilliant, which game was that again? Was that the 100 point drubbing in Alice Springs?
  11. Exactly, if you can go to games like this and don't I don't know why you bother following at all.
  12. The problem is people looking to equate loading with results rather than performance. Your performance can lead to poor results but it's more about how you perform on the day (ie noticeable fatigue, sluggishness, inability to cover ground, inability for repeated efforts etc)
  13. Interesting to note who was the fitness coach at Geelong in 2007 - Dean Robinson aka The Weapon - also at Essendon when Goodwin was there.
  14. Pretty sure that's meant to read Flogmantle
  15. Scott's comments were after they beat Eagles in Perth about 6-8 weeks ago.
  16. Not so, it's been mentioned here and there over 25 years. The most common example is Craig at the Crows when Blight was coach. Nevermind the date stamp this article is from 2007 (notice the Crows midfielder who is quoted in the article šŸ¤”) https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/teams/crows-can-do-it-the-hard-way/news-story/8dbb81862363821fdf0a51548b4adb85 Also "1997: Becomes fitness adviser and assistant coach of Adelaide. He plays a massive role in Adelaide winning back-to-back premierships. Craig had previously been a sports scientist at South Australian Institute of Sport. His ā€œtaperingā€ training is regarded as cutting edge among the AFL" https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/755571/neil-craig-timeline
  17. "because if you had been on a heavy training plan that week you were wrecked by the time you ran onto the field."
  18. Fair point but his routine is all off. Not alone either, Petracca is also a serial offender.
  19. How could you play on a 135m long ground? The centre square would be 7.5m inside the 50m line at each end. A good article here about ground sizes. As I mentioned a few weeks back although Geelong is thought of as a small ground it isn't really - it's a narrow ground but longer than the MCG. This length plays into how the Cats play it as much as the width. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-06-16/cody-and-sean-afl-analysis-how-much-do-ground-sizes-matter/101154950
  20. It might drizzle a little in the afternoon but don't think it will be a downpour. Certainly not enough to deter supporters from getting there.
  21. Even if North finishes last WCE would still pick him up in the PSD. North aren't going to meet his price and force him to play somewhere he doesn't want to be. Especially when they are trying to build a culture there. Hell even WCE may not meet his contract demands if he makes it clear he only wants to play at Freo.
  22. Max can play up forward but (other than a freakish Prelim final) his goalkicking is suspect at best. He can drop back but not as a key position defender. Grundy is very similar although not as good a contested mark around the ground. Someone worth looking at as a stop gap backup ruck could be Darcy Fort? Seems on the outer at Brisbane who won't play two rucks and can kick a goal.
  23. It's not sold out, there are still heaps of seats at the top of the Ponsford and the Northern Stands on Ticketek. But you are correct a GA membership entitles you to the same pool of tickets as the general public which puts you at a disadvantage if you have to wait for it to appear on the mobile app. I guess the other option is using your membership barcode to "purchase" a GA ticket through ticketek?
