Oliver Trade Rumours
Yep. I agree. Player agents generally are ok as leaking info can cut both ways but at this time of year, theyâre pretty leaky. Some players do it under their own steam too. One of our own players did that this season. Offering info for the story which helped the player too. Happens at every club.

Oliver Trade Rumours
There are plenty of people working in the AFL landscape that just see it as a job, they are not passionate about the brand/club. Some of these people might feel a bit of a rush by telling a journo one or two things to start. Then it becomes something more permanent.

Oliver Trade Rumours
Like him or loathe him, Garry speaks the truth. Players like Oliver are very hard to find. From a talent perspective it is an irrecoverable position. On a side note, I found Tomâs line of questioning and statements about footy clubs to be humorous. The guy has no [censored] idea about the fabric of a sporting organisation. If I were Garry I wouldâve told him to back the truck up. And punched him in the mouthâŠ..

Oliver Trade Rumours
Im sure this is public knowledge but Iâll repeat it anyway, Clazz has been a load since his first season. When Brendan McCartney was at the club, he got so sick and tired of Oliverâs antics that he sat him down in his office and showed him a long list of names. He said, âdo you recognise these names?â âyeah some of themâ McCartney replied, âthese are all the people at the club who think youâre a [censored]!!â McCartney was really good for Oliver in those early days. Oliver was unaware that his behaviour was so impactful to so many people. McCartney was no nonsense and steered Oliver the right direction in terms of professionalism and treatment of others.

Oliver Trade Rumours
This has been an achilles heal of Goodwin for some time. Some players within the group think he has double standards. Players like Oliver get special treatment while others are yanked in and out of the team week to week. Canât be good for team moral. (Iâll avoid using the C word) I agree with you, if half of the [censored] that was spread about Oliver last year was true, we shouldâve made him do the hard yards at Casey.

Oliver Trade Rumours
This is true. Even 1 season playing for Collingwood would increase his income from social media to a place he couldnât with us. And, if he is chasing success we are in such a state at the moment who is to say we will bounce back in 2025.

Pert and Roffey - The Review Thread
Sheâs got her hands full with other ventures. Tabcorp is probably her main priority. Not sure she did much anyway.

Dan Houston
Thatâs not a horrible outcome I agree on that. I think Houston is a gun but I am not sure his play off half back is as big a requirement as some class in the midfield.
-
Dan Houston
I think we did lose a bit of credibility with Houston both on and off the field. The delay due to the Petracca rubbish hurt us as this deal should have a bow on it already. (Subject to us finding 2 1st round picks) When his management fielded additional offers from other clubs they went pretty hard and have offered more money and âbetter finals prospectsâ. Carlton is now his preferred destination. The caveat is, we have cap space and draft collateral, where Carlton currently does not. We are staying in conversations as a result. Carlton need to potentially shed more salary and find picks.

Dan Houston
This is accurate. I donât think weâll get him but we are loitering.

James Peatling
Jones and Parfitt. I think I threw up a little in my mouth. You canât honestly think that repeating what weâve tried with NQR DFA is the way forward??? Our depth is incredibly poor. If Trent Rivers played a 2 month patch of games like Peatling did this year weâd be anointing him as the second coming. If Peatling costs us a 2nd round pick and needs a 5 year deal to get across the line so be it.

Trade Targets
I think others have mentioned we are talking with clubs who need points for academy/father son picks.
-
Trade Targets
Not sure itâs that black and white. The asking price might have proven too much for us, thatâs true given where we finished. But to say we exited the deal conflicts with what I was told first hand, post Houstonâs camp moving on from us as a destination. We were still in there talking with his management trying to keep the embers warm. The truth lies somewhere in between I suspect.
-
Trade Targets
We are trying for 2 picks in the top 15 and another pick in the 15-30 range. This is a mild deviation from our previously stated plans of 2 picks in the top 20 and supplement other list spots with mature age players/FA/trade. I had heard we thought we might be able to snag 3 picks within the top 20 but without trading out a serious talent, I canât see how we do it.

Wade Derksen
If he can smash a pack playing as a key forward and can ruck the F50, heâs worth a swing. Maybe add some physicality and tackling too. The reality is that we need JVR freed up to become a true key forward. The club is looking for ways to do this.

James Peatling
Thatâs not true. He had a stretch contract which paid him ok but added years. If we hadnât traded Harmes, his contract would still be pretty modest. Hardly impact TPP. My point was, that if we are to extract a ready to go mid, from a Premiership contender no less, who could help us win a premiership, why wouldnât we pay him a bit more than market value and add a year? We have 2-3years tops to get another flag. The types of contracts that have hurt us are the large multi year, multi million dollar deals. Peatlingâs contract wonât go near that level.
-
James Peatling
Iâm not sure I agree with you here. We gave James Harmes an incredibly long contract a few years ago and he never had a period of sustained form like Peatling. The cost of change is always higher. More money, more years and more compensation. Iâd do 5 years. We need to take a few risks to bolster our list before Gawn retires.

2024 AFL Grand Final
My wife and I booked a couples massage at 3pm this Saturday. If the Dees arenât playing, I take the long weekend and relax. Donât care who wins. Bring on the Draft!!!!
-
2024 Phantom Drafts
I wonder if he carried the injury in. Never really looked likely.

How typically Melbourne Brodie Grundy
Itâs not my opinion.

2024 Phantom Drafts
Smith has a lot of physical development left in him. His kicking penetration will improve.

Should never have been ours to trade. We were blinded by arrogance and thought we could replicate 21. It caused a lot of division internally and will be discussed a lot as a part of the review of footy ops.
-
James Peatling
Iâve heard similar. We are the highest $$ offer. My understanding is that he is most likely to stay at GWS. If he doesnât come to us at least weâve gone down swinging!!

The Kalani White Thread
Iâm not saying it makes sense. Just saying the crowd size is not a thing for some. I donât the club sees his selection to play for us as a lay down misere. Nor should we.
-
The Kalani White Thread
Get the same pay to play with your mates or move 2hours away from family and friends? Not sure the size of the crowds is a massive thing for a young player.
