  1. Sigh. I am not sure why in the world we would want to trade our AA and B/F candidate, simply because he is at his peak now and will be worth more. Yeah, let's trade all our young players when they reach 25, cos they'll be worth more...then trade the players we get with those draft picks when they become good! Mods, please lock this thread
  2. AFL releases 40-man All Australian Squad Great to see Jamar, Frawley and Green getting a gig!
  3. I think you meant Jack Trengove He will make it! Understandable typo
  4. How many times are we going to have to endure this for the next two months
  5. Bate is an interesting one. Up until today I was still convinced he was entrenched in our best 22 on the half forward line...now I'm not so sure. He lacks intensity and has the turning circle of the Queen Mary. The problem is - we know what he is capable of...I remember Gary Lyon rating him a chance to be in the top 50 players in 2009 or 2010...his booming kick is a delight to watch, that goal on Queen's Birthday to put us in front comes to mind. He has next year to prove himself, and keep his spot with Petterd coming back in, or he'll be well and truly on the trade table.
  6. Any chance for goal of the year? There were Buddy's two efforts against Essendon, and Milne's freakish toepoke against Port...those are the standouts off the top of my head. Pretty awesome being in the MCC sitting right behind it, absolute euphoria, and the Norf supporters were stunned
  7. Morton took some fantastic contested marks...
  8. There is no chance that Miller will be left out of the side this week. He's given his all for 133 games, and deserves a fitting send-off. I think people easily forget that he is in our leadership group - for that reason alone he will get a farewell game.
  9. Just 28,000 at the Essendon game today
  10. "watts04"...you're in great form today
  11. In: Sylvia, MacDonald, Bate Out: Bennell (the Invisible Man), Warnock (thought he was better...not up to it), Newton (Spudrick McSpud-Spud)
  12. 6. Bruce 5. Jurrah 4. Scully 3. Jones 2. McDonald 1. Watts We badly missed Davey and Sylvia today. Bennell seriously needs to be dropped, and Newton...well...
  13. Bad call, outrageous call, an absolute rabble of a club and team call
  14. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA NEWTON Sorry if I'm being insensitive Shame Joel's out but good to see Warnock back in. I'd like to see a bench of: McKenzie, Moloney, Bail, Bate Big vote of confidence to keep Bennell in the 18.
  15. Haha, just what the thread needed. Can't help but laugh at those...running into Leigh Brown, oh gawd
  16. Thanks for all the memories Junior. You've been a fantastic player and captain for this club - a shame you couldn't go another year, but the right decision was made all round.
  17. So by that logic, if Grimes doesn't get the captaincy next year, he never will in the future because he wasn't good enough? In all seriousness - Bruce will probably get the captaincy. There's surely a reason he steps in when McDonald doesn't play. I'd like Moloney, but I think the club will stick with Bruce.
  18. Not entirely fair...we haven't seen a lot of McNamara yet, given he was bottom-age in '07.
  19. Bate would be a big loss...he's still in the best 22, and I've no doubt he would force his way back in next year.
  20. Moving beyond the fact that we can't honestly expect to trade out three depth defenders in one year, trading Cheney, Warnock and McNamara will mean getting some compensation - it doesn't just equate to a delisting straight up, i.e. we will get something in return to use. Warnock, in this draft - probably early 2nd round Cheney and McNamara - lucky to get a pick in the 40s or 50s.
  21. I'm confused which Riewoldt people are talking about these days...
  22. He's done some good things, definitely, and I've been reasonably satisfied with his improvement...but with games like on the weekend, people are allowed to have their doubts about his short-term benefit. Some people like to think long-term, some like to think more short-term, which is 'legitimate' given we have been a chance for the finals in the last month (and still technically are).
