  1. Think back to 2017. We went 5-4 in the games without Max, losing those 4 games by a combination of just 34 points. We can beat Essendon without Max. Freo will be tougher.
  2. We were deadset hopeless that day. As bad as we were against Freo this year.
  3. IMV, Petty is equal to or as good as Max in the air. That's why I think he's a good replacement for Max this week. As for Max's tap work, let's just say I disagree. Sides read off him all the time and shark him. We're now more unpredictable at stoppage and the opposition becomes more predictable from stoppage.
  4. If the ruck position was so important, we'd be unbeatable. I just disagree.
  5. We just need a contest in the ruck, and he's more than proved he's a good contested mark forward and back.
  6. The ruck position is overrated. We were fine in 2017, we'll be fine this year. We need our second best overhead mark replace our best overhead mark around the ground. Petty for Max.
  7. Yep, I see him as a quicker Nev, rather than Wheels.
  8. Petty with chop outs from JVR and Disco as per yesterday.
  9. I'd bring Petty in for Max. That'd be it.
  10. Yep, I think so. We also reverted back to the 2022 chaining by handball off half back. We managed to get out a few times. As we did against Brisbane. I'm hoping we can do it against better opposition.
  11. Ground ball game is back in a big way the last two weeks @binman. Thanks @WheeloRatings as always.
  12. Quicker than Wheels, I reckon.
  13. AMW's ground ball game is how you beat that Essendon forward line though. Rely on May, TMac, Lever and a floating Max to get the job done in the air, and let the little guys who are good at ground level run hard off them. AMW and McVee are very good at that. Hoping Bowser can add to what they bring with his pace and his kicking. Needs some continuity though. Salem, the extra senior head behind the ball. You may well be right that we are worried about their aerial threats. I think we have to back our three key defenders to get the job done though.
  14. I ironically called for deliberate and then he paid it! I shouted out that I was only joking. Terrible decision.
  15. Agree completely. I love watching Judd play. He's so clean on the ground, always composed and a beautiful kick. Jason Taylor and co, take a bow.
  16. I thought his offensive positioning was outstanding a number of times, particularly in the first half. A little fumbly at times, but game two, he's coming along really beautifully. Well done, AMW.
  17. Hang on, who's the spider from the Pies?
  18. Well done, FD and Jake. Melksham not only improved our ball movement, but made McGovern a non entity for much of the match. He also had the equal most marks on the ground (9). This is why I trust the FD. They get it right more often than not.
  19. And Max was off the ground for most of it. We still won the quarter. Not ideal, but we did what we needed to. The quarter that cost us percentage was the third, not the last. JVR missing two absolute gimmies and Fritta missing from 25m as well.
  20. Yep, two weeks ago in his presser Gpody discussed. That's what I mean by the FD discussing it publicly. Goody and now McQualter.
  21. Indeed. I think there's too much noise from the FD. He'll play this year if his form continues IMO. We'll see.
  22. McQualter was just interviewed and said he comes up in MC every week now and is really close. I believe his words were "really close".
  23. Strange they named Taj on the ground and Kolt on the extended interchange. I wonder if there's been a change there or if that was always the plan.
  24. It does depend on cost, and as long as we're not sacrificing development of genuine AFL mids by selecting someone like Shiel, I'd be for it. I wanted him when he originally went to Essendon.
