Some ridiculous arguments on this thread. As if having term limits aren't a good thing, which we wouldn't have without Peter Lawrence. The board could have accepted a number of positions without dragging it through the courts, which they eventually accepted anyway. Posters saying they don't want to hear from other candidates and therefore want a closed shop are truly staggering. This current board puts their mates in positions prior to elections when board vacancies come about and then lobby for them through official channels come election time. They've done it repeatedly. It's electioneering and is not only not best practice, it's not done by any other club in the league.

I really think the deal was done earlier in the season when the team was still entrenched in the 8, and that as soon as it became clear we would get a top 10 pick, the FD started to fracture over what to pay for him, and eventually decided what he would cost was out of our ballpark. His management then threw us under the bus to save face for DH.

He was a good pick, wouldn't call him an amazing pick. But yeah, agreed, academy access and COLA has kept them up. Meanwhile, their coach and team consistently crumble on the big day or even for 3 quarters in qualifying finals too.

And a bloody good premiership winning coach...

Gulden was an academy player. As was Heeney, as was Blakey, as was Mills. You know, like all their best players.

If we were playing FIFA maybe, but in reality state league players do not have the elite fitness required to play at the top level for a season. Those guys know what standards get you there and would be good back up, and good for Casey to develop our younger guys coming through. Taberner is a stronger back than Schache if required and Ross is no worse than JJ, Dunstan or Harmes.

Walsh would work in any system because he's a machine runner. Having Lingers and Walsh in the same team would be a dream, and probably mean we could tweak our system even more.

Nah, I was all for Cerra pre Carlton, but not only has he failed to live up to expectation Inhad on him, he's constantly injured. The Carlton mid I'd like is Walsh, but he too has injury problems and they'd never let him go. He'd be perfect in our system.
