I'm still holding out hope we manage to land two first round mids in the draft, and I think we should target a Will Brodie and players of his ilk that give us that James Jordon, James Harmes contingency if needed.

Yeah, they are. A big tall goon running around and taking kids out.

The under 19 ammos might play man on man, no zone, but even my under 12 Euro handball team plays a zone.

A further point on the zone defence, I think our wingers could be more attacking if our key backs were more agile in attack. Don't get me wrong, our zone defence is great and all our key backs and half backs are masters of knowing when to roll forward and back, and trusting each other. Chaplin has done an excellent job for many years now. But I think your point about our wingers, DS, is in part because May and Lever, whilst they're not slow to join in on attack, they're a more moulded as traditional defenders. This is why I'm really excited by the likes of Riak Andrew and even Kalani White if he stays back. You've got explosive, agile defenders that naturally want to take the game on. I think if Petty takes the lockdown role that May will vacate in 2-3 years, and Lever will still be around too, but I'd want to get more explosiveness from the third tall, and the back pockets and half backs. If you're backs are more attacking, it forces your wingers forward or potentially even in behind your defenders to cover the space that has been vacated by an aggressive counter attack from our backs. I think what we need is a new ball movement line coach that utilises the zone and trust that Chaplin has built within the defensive system, to gamble more with ball use off half back. This then requires some guys who we think can play the distributor roles. If we kept McVee and Rivers behind the ball, tried to draft two mids in the top 20 (say Langford/Lalor and Hynes) and added some experienced depth from other clubs, we'd then have some good explosiveness off half back, but adding a Houston to that mix would be incredible. If it was FIFA, you'd consider trading Salo, but I think what we'd get in return is limited and potentially undermine team harmony (further). So maybe Salo, McVee and Rivers are enough. My sense is that we're not actually going to be too aggressive with our trading, and perhaps we should be?

We need to bury the hatchet and move on now, otherwise 2025 will amount to nothing. It's good Trac is there.

		Mac Andrew

Yeah, in those clips @ChaserJ provided above, he's way more involved in the play than I expected, in a very CJ way. Run and carry. I'm salivating at the prospect of a backline in 3-4 years time with Riak, Petty and Lever, and a JVR, Turner, White and Mac down the other end.

I'd put him in the skills over toughness category personally.

That link up through the corridor and off half back. 🤩 Exciting. Ceiling could be anything. What's Riak's decision making like as a rule mate?

I wouldn't say I am a pessimist. I'd say I'm an optimist. Get things right off the field and we're a huge shot at a flag in 2025. As for Green, I'll get banned if I say what I really think of him, but let's just say our views align on him.

The first bit is definitely spot on. But his midfield has had Wines and Drew for a while. Neither fit the skills over toughness review

I'd be going for someone to balance Goody, not another people person. We need someone in the role that can have tough conversations hold the top standards. Judging by the last 12 months, that's not Richo.

Will we? The board is reviewing itself. Green has been on the board since November 2020.

Pert and Roffey - The Review Thread

I've only read the statements on the club website, but it's pretty clear that you're spot on. Green will review the board and Pert will review the FD. So who reviews Pert? Get PJ in to do FFS. Let's be serious about this.

Pert and Roffey - The Review Thread

Pert is responsible for setting the culture of the club. Not only do we leak like sieve, we have clear discontent within the FD and playing group. Under PJ we did not leak. Surely, you can see the commercial impacts of continued leaks.

Pert and Roffey - The Review Thread

This would be a disaster if Green reviews the board and Pert reviews the FD and escapes scrutiny himself...

Pert and Roffey - The Review Thread

Agreed, it's just unfortunate that most of the constitutional change has been pushed from the outside. The board wanted the status quo and electioneering to remain, hence us as members being told who to vote for 3 years in a row.

		Dan Houston

They want Houston for the exact same reason we did - to play in the midfield... Also, he has played a significant chunk of footy in the midfield. Just not this year.
