  1. I'd be going KPF on our first pick and mid on our second pick (wherever the latter falls).
  2. That could be a Port Adelaide 2013 situation. Just getting some of these guys on the park and getting full pre seasons under their belts. Throw in a fit Hogan and Dawes, a top new KPF from the draft, another top mid from the draft and hopefully Chip re-signing, and all of a sudden we can build some momentum.
  3. Interested to see how he goes. Let hope he can show something. In the past, I've thought he wasn't good enough either.
  4. He was pick #51 or something, wasn't he? I agree, mate, he's lacked something in the past, but he can't be any worse than Terlich. If he manages to break even with his opponent and hit targets by hand and foot, he's an upgrade.
  5. Georgiou's disposal worries me. His kicking at least does. He seems solid enough one-on-one though, but let's wait and see how he goes on a better forwardline than Carlton's. Carlton really do have a horrible list, which pleases me to say the least.
  6. Yeah, yeah. I'm all for positivity and ambition. We must have that as a club, but then as a supporter, you must temper these goals with realism, not stupidity.
  7. We'll finish botttom four. I hope this thread is being facetious.
  8. You can spell it either way, but the original spelling is always better - ie. the British spelling. So "judgement".
  9. Haha, I hope you're right, mate. Very, very happy to be proved wrong.
  10. Agree, Robbie. It's just not gonna happen though, unless we absolutely play out of our skins on Sunday.
  11. Watts has support on DL. I cannot recall a journalist ever sticking up for him.
  12. He likes big-bodied mids, so I guess it's not surprising.
  13. His pace could be an issue, RM, but it doesn't necessarily have to be. Geelong had guys like Hunt, Mackie and Enright off half back. I wouldn't have called any of them speedy. It's about being able to make the right decision and then execute by hand or foot. Toumpas was drafted for his disposal. That's the position Roosy should be saying is his target.
  14. I'm just glad we dodged a bullet there. Imagine paying him close to that money. He's turned out to be very one-dimensional. What are you talking about, TGR? We've followed that sort of plan too many times. That, you could argue, is one of the major reasons for our extended wretchedness. Getting rid of older bodies that could protect and educate younger players. I think it was a mistake by Buckley. We shall see.
  15. They were never going to win that game. Who was going to kick their goals? It was just a matter of whether we knew how to win. A bit like the St Kilda game, but this time we had Dawes, so we were afforded confidence going forward.
  16. Spot on, mate. I think Toumpas is the long term answer off the half back. His kicking will be vital. However, I want to see him string a few good games together in the 2s and then give him a couple of weeks at senior level. If he goes well, keep him, otherwise keep dropping him back to Casey until he develops that consistency needed.
  17. I disagree, mate. I think we've really missed a reliable disposer off half back all year. I personally wouldn't call Garland "classy", but he is a solid, "reliable" distributor. That goes to the heart of our structure. His ability to break lines, make the right decision and then dispose of the ball solidly, is key to quick ball movement and thus our attacking game. He is also an excellent one-on-one defender. See, if we turn it over at half back, we're goners in the modern game. When you've got Grimes, Terlich and even M Jones kicking us out of there, most of the time their disposal efficiency is so poor that their turn overs result in direct goals - see Rounds 1-3. I hate those speculative kicks that we do across half back, chipping into the middle of the ground or kicking to a one-on-one in the corridor. Low percentage and route one to goal for the opposition if they win that contest. In that respect, Garland straightens our back six up, in a way that Dawes straightens us up down the other end.

If that was in relation to Liverpool, my what a season we've had.

Go you reds! Suarez and Henderson were rubbish, but Stirling has grown enormously this season.
  20. Cross can play another two years if he continues at this rate.
  21. Not exactly on topic, but Prestia started on the bench tonight. He's slightly down the pecking order there, given their amazing depth of potential at GCS. He and Treloar are the two mids I'd be throwing the kitchen sink at, come the end of the season. Really like both of them as players. One is grunt and a great decision maker, with good disposal, the other is a speedy clearance winner with good disposal. With the Clark money, we should be warchest it and offer both of them big contracts. I think Prestia re-signed half way through last year, but nevertheless, go at him.
  22. Does anyone think it was just about the most physical Watts has been? The first quarter and a bit he didn't go hard enough, but after that he started to lay some quite strong tackles.
  23. I'd disagree with this assertion, MB. I think in those two Essendon victories were full team performances. It has been a long time since Round 10 2012 though.
