  1. Sorry. Should have been clearer with that post. I wasn't exactly defending Watts, merely pointing out that this has been endemic of this team for a long time. Roos has got Frawley playing a more confident brand of footy. Hopefully, Watts is next. Let's just give him a chance though.
  2. Are we talking about Frawley here? He did this every week at full back.
  3. What is Patton's contractual status like? Another one with an injury riddled past.
  4. Port's fitness is linked with the former Liverpool fitness guy. Forget his name, but I think he's an Australian. I think it's too simplistic to say: become a fitter side and you'll jump from the bottom to the top. They've also developed their players well and they are well drilled by Hinkley. He had a reasonable midfield group to walk in on. They all got fit at the right time and got out on the park.
  5. You're right, T. It doesn't. But Watts is playing on a wing, with occasional rotations across half back and half forward. Garland is solely a defender and Pederson is a KPF/B and 2nd ruck. They're very different, IMO.
  6. Except, they're playing entirely different positions.
  7. Can't see Frawley leaving Melbourne (the city). If he goes, it'd be to one of the 'big' Melbourne clubs. I don't need to reiterate what I think he will do though.
  8. A bit unnecessary. I was given a warning for such comments directed at Moloney back in the day. Different regime, but you might want to watch yourself.
  9. Yeah, I heard on the radio on the way home that he had 20% kicking efficiency. It didn't sound right.
  10. Well done, Roosy. This is clearly the way to play Jack. You've just gotta keep nurturing him until it clicks. He realises how important Watts could be. I'm glad Roos is the coach. He'll sort him out.
  11. Frawley won't want to go to GWS. If he goes, it'll be to a contender. I'd back us to keep him at this stage though.
  12. Spot on, P. What we've gotta hope also is that Roos finds a few that we didn't expect. Our biggest concern is that none of our mids seem natural goalkickers. If they can get Blease running both ways, he could be a goer.
  13. True. Maybe I was a little unfair, although I think his decision making has worsened this season. He'd cut out the brain fades for a while there and now they seem to be increasing again.
  14. I reckon Frawley'll stay, so might need to look at an alternate avenue to getting Shiel. Or wait until he comes out of contract and offer him $600,000ish.
  15. I think Tommy will continue to get the big guy. Garland can play big obviously, but he tends to take the dangerous small forward. His inclusion will give us some flexibility anyway, you're right.
  16. And not much has changed. Would still love Shiel. I've been thinking a lot lately about the new franchises. When they first came in, I thought they'd take all the talent and everyone else would be left with nothing. That's still true to an extent, but it may come full circle. Given they're both interstate franchises, with little support, it's a lot easier to convince a lot of them (mainly Victorians) to come back south. The franchises put two or three years into them and then clubs like the MFC (with lots of money due to a dearth of talent) can come along and offer big bucks, game time and Melbourne (the city). We wouldn't have been able to develop that talent if there was no GCS or GWS anyway, so it might just work out for us.
  17. And mate, he's the only one that can kick a football properly in that back six. Terlich, Grimes, Tommy Mac et al have VFL-like disposal.
  18. Tommy Mac has struggled this year. Disagree there, J. Agree with the others though.
  19. What rubbish. Those around you clearly have little grasp on the game if that was their thinking. Either that, or they're blinded by frustration... I generally agree, although Pederson has more than held up his own in the ruck. That might just get him a spot in the 22. The guy I've been consistently disappointed with this season is Tommy Mac. He's just having one shocker after another. He had about three or four brain fades in the one quarter against the Swans. I just wonder if that injury in Round 1 against St Kilda is having a residual impact. I might just be making excuses for him though.
  20. We have a little family joke from the few times we've been up to Sydney to watch games against them. In the middle of quarters, Swans supporters are up and down, up and down. They get beers, food etc. And I have no problems with MFC people complaining that Swans supporters were sitting in reserved seating. That's a MFC only area. The MCC isn't and no one's complaining there. It's the equivalent of those flogs that sit in opposition cheer squads, providing the seats aren't allocated.
  21. Same near us in the MCC. Smarmy, antagonistic twats. The acquisition of Buddy is the start of their decline. That'll shut 'em up.
  22. I'd be all over Shiel, myself. Gonna be a gun. I'd put him on a meaty 3 year deal and he can relocate to his home state.
