  1. Matt Jones is also a turn over machine. As is Grimes. It's no wonder we get scored against heavily. They all play off the back flank. If you turn it over there, it's coming back quickly.
  2. I agree, goodoil. I think if we were to get a mid with 2 or 3 years under their belt with pace and elite kicking, we'd be stupid not to think about trading a first round pick. I think Roos has shown us he's quite happy to trade first round picks. However, I think it might sway things towards a KPF, if we don't get Dawes or Hogan back for at least half the season and Clark retires. This being the case, we'd then really have to invest a pick at the pointy end on a KPF. That's where the KPF stars are found. We've said it many times before, but I think given George Stone and Roos, we can be confident that we might be able to develop some mids that aren't necessarily first rounders. Say your Sewell's, Mitchell's, even Cross's. Compliment Vince, Jones, Tyson and Viney with an A grader and all of a sudden that midfield isn't third world anymore.
  3. I know this is extremely early and I apologise if this has been mentioned, but I'd like to pose you all a question. Given our bad luck with KPFs, if you were Jason Taylor, would you go for a KPF or a midfielder or would you look to trade our first round pick, ala Dom Tyson?
  4. Does anyone pay any attention to what they read about injuries on the club website? It's a load of rubbish. I posted this on the MFC Facebook page, but we should be entitled to transparency from the club RE: injuries. They need to stop stringing along the supporters. The perfect example is Chris Dawes for most of last year. Now Hogan's injury keeps being pushed out further. I literally wait until they run out on game day, before I consider any MFC player fit nowadays.
  5. Apathy set in firmly by mid way through the second quarter on Sunday. It's futile being negative, but I really can't see a turn in the works. I will support the club by going every week and I've bought my membership again. I can only put faith in Roos, because he's been there before and if he can't do it, no one can. But to predict when it might happen, I'm not sure I could. Fingers crossed it's soon though, eh?
  6. I noticed him run four or five times the entire night. I'm sure he ran a little more than that, but he didn't look interested. He's gotta be able to deal with opposition scrutiny, otherwise he'll find himself out of a job. Having some key forwards around him would help though. I was disappointed in his game, but I'm not the biggest fan of Howe, so that figures.
  7. Exactly, Robbie. I've been saying that for two or three years now. It's infuriating.
  8. Grimes continues getting games. His disposal is still horrid and despite many hailing him as a good reader of the game, I just don't see it. Is it just me? There were a few games towards the end of last season, where if we'd taken out all our turnovers that led directly to goals, the scores'd be practically level. It seemed to be the same thing again tonight, yet this tonight we clearly had a plan. It's great to see a Melbourne midfield where we have three or four players getting high 20s and early 30s in the disposal count. The last time that happened, we were playing finals. We still need to weed out players like Nicholson, Bail, M Jones and Dunn, but that will come as the season progresses. Give us Clark & Dawes (if they ever get on the park) + Frawley & Garland and we're a competitive outfit. Oh, and throw Viney into that midfield mix too. It's always tough to take anything from the NAB pre season, but at least our guys are getting their hands on the ball, which will in turn breed confidence individually and jointly. As the season progresses, our midfield will begin to accustom themselves to playing with each other and I reckon we'll see some real improvement across 2014 and 2015. About bloody time!
  9. Agreed. But I can't see Terlich keeping his spot and if he does, that spells trouble for our fortunes.
  10. They're writing another dog character in already. They'll just replace him and move on.
  11. Terrible news. I hope you get better news soon, Dean.
  12. I know the OP was facetious, but I hate Demonland sometimes.
  13. I was under the impression that Freeman plays both inside and out.
  14. Saty has been known for jumping down the throat of others in the past, but what he said to you here was not personal at all. He just said a couple of your comments were twaddle. I agree with him. Does that mean that I'm personally attacking you too? I don't think so. This is the internet. People disagree. It's not a big deal. You might want to grow a thicker skin, otherwise you won't last.
  15. Yeah, not sure about that. Whenever he's dropped back previously, he can't help but attempt high-flyers. When he drops them we're in big trouble. I think it's too risky unless he develops some self-restraint and discipline. I'd prefer to use him as an attacking weapon. Play him rotating through the midfield and forwardline.
  16. I know I'm being slightly fanciful here, but it is possible. Our problem is usually the fact the top players are often not interested in entertaining our offers. Here is a guy that is a future gun and already showing signs at the top level. He's an MFC man and if he comes home, it sounds like he'd be okay with talking to Melbourne. We're ahead there.
