  1. I'm excited by Roos and McCartney's development abilities that all these guys will come on nicely. The first two already have. Reckon we might have a really exciting midfield in a year or two. I just hope we can trade in some leaders to support them.
  2. I'm not having a go at you specifically, JRS, but the way people talk about Jimmy around here, It's like he's a 7 or 8 year player. He's 21 years old. He's got another 10 years in front of him and if he keeps it up, he'll only get better. I understand the reticence with all our failed drafting in the past, but it seems that so much of it was also development. Jimmy is in a good environment now and the FD (and Roos) have seemingly nursed him through the past 12 months beautifully.
  3. He made some very good decisions today under pressure. When you have 26 of them, it's rare they'll all be 100% efficient.
  4. And haven't we had some obnoxiously horrible posts from you along the way, PF? But well done for recognising his thoroughly promising game today. My old man, who has been a critic for a while, recognised his form today too. Jimmy is building nicely. I wonder how much kudos should be directed at Brendan McCartney? Either way, Jimmy seems to be putting in the hard yards and it's beginning to pay off.
  5. Jamar is finished. All he does is drop the occasional tap he wins at his feet and then is hopeless when the ball hits the deck. He'll retire or be delisted. He should hang the boots up at the end of the season.
  6. Exactly. I envisaged Stevens getting out the back in open space like he did for his goal earlier in the match. Sure enough, it happened. Absolutely hopeless.
  7. We looked more likely to win against Collingwood last week, than we did against St Kilda today, IMO.
  8. Correction. He had a good three quarters. He just doesn't watch it into his hands. He drops his head. But perhaps there's also something in the knee history.
  9. Exactly. Just before Toumpas scored his first, Gawn dropped an absolute uncontested sitter, practically in the goal square. He ended up being involved in that Toumpas goal, but his hands are horrible. As you say, mate, he positions himself quite well.
  10. I think we have a new contender for old iron hands out there. Max Gawn. Couldn't mark a beach ball. We're predictable down the line to Gawn, but we get away with it if he could take a contested mark. He's 208cm FCS. It's about time he starts playing like it.
  11. Riley is done for mine. I'd venture as far as saying Matt Jones offers more across four quarters. Neither should be at the club next year.
  12. And can I just say, Jeremy Howe was appalling today. I watched him jog right in front of me in the last quarter, when a St Kilda player sprinted past him. He's the sort of player that we need to trade desperately. I think they will pull the trigger at the end of the year. I'm not sure Howe's checked out. I think he's just a lazy, has it all on his terms, sort of footballer. Blokes like him will take us nowhere. I'd prefer to see him never play again, but that would obviously lessen his trade value.
  13. If you don't have the skills in the first place, you're not going to get very far. It's not Roos' fault. The players continue to refuse to work hard and run and spread. It's a lack of courage that kills us every week. It's why we have to handball round in circles each week. I've no doubt Roos is teaching the players better decision making, but some of them just don't have it in them to execute. You only have to look at guys like Brayshaw. He just makes the right decision nearly every time. Some have it, some don't.
  14. St Kilda are in trouble. We smashed them in all the key stats today. They were pretty well drilled and we made far too many clangers. Almost 50, by the way. I'm not up with the records, but can anyone tell me if that's some kind of record? We halve our clangers and we win. As simple as that.
  15. The increase in errors across the last two weeks is particularly worrying.
  16. And those rubbishing Toumpas are blinded by their bias. Two goals, 26 touches and 8 tackles. That's a gun game. Okay, so he may have been at fault for the last goal, but I reckon the whole team (especially the leaders) have to cop the blame for that.
  17. We weren't even good for a whole quarter. Every couple of minutes we would make an horrendous error and just gift them goals.
  18. Don't let their half reasonable stats trick you. Stretch and ANB aren't ready yet. They'll only keep playing if injuries persist.
  19. Well, we'll get St Kilda at the G, Carlton and possibly Brisbane or another one we don't expect. Oh yeah. Essendon. That said, I'm finding the last two weeks very puzzling. They have been so error riddled. We were more efficient earlier in the season. I wonder if they are tiring, but you know what, they don't bloody deserve excise after excuse.
  20. So I've been predicting 6-8 wins for most of the year. I think it'll be 6.
  21. We also dominated the key stats and still never really looked like it. We need more midfield class. I'll say it again. We need more midfield class.
  22. Could anyone else see Stevens getting free out the back of that centre stoppage well before it happened? Lack of leadership. Someone should have plonked themselves on that side of the contest. Woeful performance. Another game at that hole of a ground that we never looked like winning.
  23. Was beaten quite a bit early, but he's come back strongly. Still only depth though.
