  1. Sounds pretty spot on to me... I mean, it's not like the club has been the pinnacle of success. The complete opposite. It's about time we stopped laying the boot into those that lay the boot in. You can't fix a problem without first acknowledging it. The club's a rabble. Sheedy is really just stating the obvious. Accept it and move on. Suggesting he has no truth in his remake is ludicrous.
  2. I thought the same thing when I read it. Very poor choice of words. Anything 9+ goals is a blowout imo.
  3. Lucky to get 12,000 there.
  4. A friend of mine is a social media coordinator, worked alongside Westpac Group in the relaunch of Bank Of Melbourne. Wouldn't be straight up, but wouldn't deny that the bank will be major sponsor of the club next year. Stay tuned.

    GAME DAY

    Anyone have a stream?
  8. We are easily a 50,000+ home game team when we are flying. I can't wait until this team starts playing well.
  9. I think it's the cringe you have that is part of what he wants get out of the club, that sweeping under the rug of issues and problems. You cannot rectify an issue without having first acknowledged there is an issue in the first place.
  10. Hawthorn play 2-3 games a year in Tassie don't they? I have no issue with it. As long as we still get 11-12 games at the MCG a year, home or away.
  11. To pass up on anyone that has come from North's culture would be ridiculous. If he's available and "those" others have been crossed off the list, we should definitely entertain him. We have the skill and talent. Need the structure and grunt. He can bring that. Pagan, too.
  12. The logo is fantastic. The club went from no brand to a little brand. And now you want to get rid of a logo and a club branding that has arguably contributed to what is said to be the biggest sponsorship deal in the club's history? Schwab's position has been to reinvent the brand. He did it, and did it well.
  13. You'll be lucky to get 5-10000 Melbourne supporters there.
  14. Am I one of a few that believes Schwab is worth more than Scully? I mean, are people REALLY being critical of Schwab for spending big cash on high-priced executives with high credentials? Bay 13 has a knack of calling Melbourne a socialist club, but I never really believed. Seems to be the case. Damned if you, damned if you don't. End of the day, Melbourne had no brand a $2.3 million debt with no assets in 2008. How times have changed. Scully can [censored] of if that's the case. I have confident in the club's business administration. However, I am critical of the culture instilled at the club, and I believe this has more to do with player management at the club, as well as those people influential with what happens onfield. Scully is replaceable. People that can turn a brand from nothing to something aren't.
  15. Shall he take the approach always taken by the club, and be unclear, untruthful? Because we've been the pinnacle of success. Weak types must go. Including those in positions that don't contribute that should, and that is not in reference to players.
  16. 10 goal win.
  17. I agree wholeheartedly with the OP. I know I'll be part of the minority. I've been critical of the club pretty much ever since I entered adulthood. Having grown up in the North with plenty of passionate Carlton and Collingwood supporters to heckle me, I could compare my club to others, as I had commentary being spewed out all around me. The club has always just felt, well, for lack of a better word, "minnow" (I know that will offend some members). I say that word not so much just in terms of financial stability, supporter base and success (or lack thereof) but taking special consideration of the club's obvious business management issues. I believe these issues stem even further down into the bellows of the MCG, a stadium which, ironically, has always made the club look bigger than it is. Fact remains that the club hasn't won a flag in so long that most young supporters don't even consider Melbourne relatively successful considering we have literally done N.O.T.H.I.N.G. in 50 years. I don't blame fans really. Even St. Kilda has a few memorable streaks and runs that people will remember. But Melbourne really has NOTHING. You can't really blame the players. People just seem to be completely sidestepping the fact that we are NOT 31 goals behind Geelong. No one is. On any day. At any ground. Ever. There is something quite obviously concerning the players. I believe that in the current media climate, it's essentially impossible for players to not get wind of what it's like at other clubs, and there's more information being throwing around, and that causes queries, which can lead to tension, which leads to revolt. The revolt doesn't need to be intentional. Saturday was quite clearly a fundamental break down of the entire club. Every single bit of it. The players just reached a point where they didn't know who they were playing for and why. The players are the very last line. They are the ones that cop EVERYTHING. Once the entire club is INFECTED with complete and utter business incompetence, you're got professional athletes starting to have concerns about the livelihood of their own club. Players are so dependent on the functionality of the club, and the club has failed them for too long. Hopefully Saturday will wake some people up to how completely inept this club is in management, why a club based at the MCG in Melbourne with 12 flags and 150 years has only 35,000 members (it's not good enough. 50 years of failing to acknowledge the club's small supporter base that was actually dwindling, with the lowest number of young members in the league), why a team bound for finals and in a fight for the top 8 would lose by 186 points, why Adam Yze is commenting on the club's draft pick agenda -- clearly he left on bad terms -- I could really go on and on. I feel like I'm speaking to a brick wall when I share these thoughts. I'm really not surprised by what has transpired. Lyon's comments about the weak out of the club says to me that he knows who's there and what areas need improvement. It's quite obvious that there are people in positions that shouldn't be. OK that's all I've got to say. Have mercy on me. All of this said, we'll probably make the finals. This team is a school boys all-star team. It needs some god damn structure and grunt.
  18. I think Schwab is working in the best interest of the club as a whole, as a business, and this seems to have compromised the team's ability to progress on-field. If this issue shows us anything, it's that sometimes the business side of a club needs to take priority. That's clearly what's happened here, and I'm conflicted if I'm in favour. But I trust Stynes and Lyon, and they both believe it was the best thing moving forward. I believe they think it was the best decision for the survival of the club. Schwab really has done wonders with the brand.
  19. I believe it. I think the concern goes to how the club is dealing with player management on on-field progression, alongside progression of the club brand. From what I understand -- I don't have sources -- the club has been working overtime to expand its brand and get the club out there in the public eye. What this has led to is an even bigger hole when it comes to player development and management, a hole that has been present for 50 years. Creating the brand has been especially hard as the club has been anything but the pinnacle of success over the years. The whole situation finally lost balance last week, and the players lost faith in the club. A brand can be built on its own around a successful club, but the brand had to come first in this case. But that's obviously led to a revolt. I've also heard that a certain player broke down when speaking to Bailey, questioning the direction of the club and where it went so wrong. I think the club had to make a decision: Do we side with the coach and stop the progression of the brand Or stick with the brand and go in a new direction on-field? That ultimately led to Bailey's sacking and Schwab's reappointment. I think that's all very clear tbh. I think the club has failed at a fundamental level, and disastrously at that. A real failure of communication, transparency and commitment.
  20. I am convinced that no player is safe. If Sylvia wants to go, he can, but we will need to trade him. If Scully goes, it will be indicative of major issues at the club, all but proving issues surrounding Schwab's position at the club.
  21. I like Eddie. He has the passion and urgency that is desperately needed at the club. Stynes can only do so much. He's a business man and I admire him for turning Collingwood into what they are. I can put aside my support for Melbourne and admit that. He's doing what any loyal, dedicated, hard-blooded President would do. It's completely within his right to say these things.
  22. I'm sorry, but he's right. We are as bruise-free as you can get. There's no getting around that. Cale Morton.
  23. Melbourne is in crisis Melbourne lost by 186 points Melbourne sacked Dean Bailey Players aren't happy Collingwood is on top of the ladder I didn't watch the show, but I'm assuming that was the jist of it.
