Yet again we have a chance to knock off two records against the Saints this week. 2 in a row. Beat the Saints. Pity we couldn't get over the line a month ago. Must win this week.

I'd try Dawes in the ruck more often. He clogs up the forward line. Hogan, Howe and Garlett would be enough firepower for any team. I think we keep waiting for Dawes to provide that spark but he just isn't that type of player. He's like a Jamar-Watts-Dunn hybrid lol

Don't think it'll happen. Seems too level-headed and too much of a professional to come to Melbourne after leaving that debacle that is the GC Suns. Probably go to the Pies, Cats or Hawks. Maybe Bulldogs.

What I love about him is that he works his way up the ground in an effort to genuinely help the team. It's what Dawes should be doing, not Hogan. Pedersen is a big loss because he normally filled that role. Hogan carries on like a kid and has for the past two weeks, but the delivery forward has been nothing short of deplorable. He seriously looks like he hates playing for us right now. His teammates don't give him a chance. At least he tries to work his way into the game. Something Howe doesn't do, and something Dawes tries to do but is very, very limited as a player.

He's only 22 but has 70+ games experience. That's interesting because young players tend to hit their strides around the 50-70 game mark, once they have a feel for the speed and hardness of the game. He's certainly having his best season but he's not reliable outside of a one-on-one contest. You can't trust him with the ball. Are you any more confident when he has the ball than you are when M Jones or Bail has it? I'm not. I find it interesting because it seems as though Watts has taken 100 games to find some consistency. We've been so bad for so long that a lot of these young kids take longer to come on. I imagine that reaching 50 games in a finals side is different to reaching 50 games in a terrible side. I mean, obviously, right?

Refreshed "Beat Collingwood" stat. If we can't knock out "Win at Etihad" and "Beat St. Kilda" this weekend, I might just give up on this club.

All year he's been caught under the ball but has done a good job of making a contest and in many cases still taking the mark. Yesterday Frost read him very well and simply didn't let Hogan get a sniff in a marking contest. He needs to learn how to break off from an opponent into space because he's struggled with that all year. But his effort up until mid-way through the third was good. At that point he dropped off. Soundly beaten but still a competitor. All we can ask, really. Frost worked really hard in that regard. Gotta hand it to him. He out muscled Hogan from the start.

He sits in the AFL Members. I remember the guy with the light-blue hoody. I have the "Demon Attack" season review video from 1994 and he's always in the replays. He was cheersquad leader until 2000 I think, or thereabouts. Then when our cheersquad moved to behind the goals he had a small group in the Olympic Stand for a few games, then they disappeared.

Our backline is fine, but Howe is Frawley 2.0 and is clearly playing to run the year out. He's gone at year's end. Interesting that last year Roos moved Frawley forward and then he left, and now Howe goes back after playing forward and is destined to leave. It's like Roos is "banishing" these players in an effort to prepare the other end of the ground for their departure. Our forward line has potential. Garlett has been good with deplorable delivery, and has played his role. He needs to straighten up his set shot and be more damaging, but we couldn't expect more from him, really. It's not like Farmer was a great set shot (unless he was taking a shot to beat us...) Hogan, well, no comment needed. You can build a team around him. Our midfield is *still* shocking, probably the best in the league. Jones goes through the motions. Vince hacks it. Tyson hacks it. Cross hacks it. Vince and Cross have been "Melbourne'd". Either Tyson is injured, or he's also "going through the motions". He does nothing much of genuine value, like Jones. We lose the plot across half-back and half-forward, and it's because we *still* don't run two-ways. Our entire middle section is constantly chasing, never demanding the ball, and so therefore we can't drive forward. This is why we're last with inside 50s. Do we have bad players? Do we have bad coaches? Is it a bad mindset? WHAT IS IT? I don't know anymore. I have zero answers. I just can't see what it is about this team, where it's bad is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad. I just don't get it.

The most impressive thing is that he has rarely if ever had a clear, direct pass to him on the chest on the lead. He often cracks it and teammates who bomb it in long or too short. Most of his marks have been contested which says a lot because once we get the decent delivery we at least know he will still make an effort to make a contest when there isn't an opportunity for a clear mark.
