  1. I wasn't aware I could just rock up. I might try after work then for the Rich v Hawthorn game. But anyway, yes, I have full AFL membership and it is undoubtedly worth the price of admission.
  2. Had to put a figure on it. It's a broad application because teams wouldn't benefit directly from broadcast revenue. However, advertising rates generally impact reach and amplification. So on Friday night you have enhanced brand awareness, more people viewing and engaging with the brand. This enhances brand awareness, sponsorship. I would estimate that an extra Friday night fixture in place of, say, a Sunday 1pm match, would probably impact bottom line to the tune of a few million dollars. In increases a club's bargaining power, that's for sure.
  3. Are prices still $80 for top tier Melbourne memberships? Because I only paid $23 and around $140 in total for 7 tickets in AFL Members *shrugs*
  4. You have some 180k members scrambling for tickets vs around 100k for Melb v Geelong. Suspect that MCC and AFL members will be full.
  5. I was in the queue for 5 minutes, by 9:01 I was in, 9:06 had my tickets. Right on the wing, level 1, undercover.
  6. he's asking if you can standthere without a specific standing room ticket. Which you can.
  7. His career is imo summarised in the final moments of round 1, 2016 vs GC. Watch the highlights. The ball is coming to him in the goal square. He squibs, panicks, and handballs directly to a GC player. Luckily Lumumba intercepts the corresponding kick to nab a goal and seal the win, but that passage really epitomised Toumpas' career. I remember being at the game and seeing it happening, and the crowd letting out a collective groan. It's very audible on the highlights. Was never going to make it.
  8. As it should be. don't need extra police resources dedicated to dealing with Geelong supporters
  9. GA has been delayed. The only Cats supporters that would have tickets would be Geelong club members.
  10. have you been reading this thread at all? sales are suspended. not sold out.
  11. they were always on sale tomorrow.
  12. same with optus and the world cup. the problem isn't so much the organizations. it's the vendors who assure they can handle the traffic and strain. there would be financial clauses but unfortunately this doesn't help the average punter.
  13. hold off mate. bombarding the club doesn't help. keep trying.
  14. plenty available. tickets will be held in pending transactions that timed out. once the cache clears they'll be available
  15. nah. they aren't refreshing the system they would just be waiting for all pending transactions to go back to available.
  16. not sold out. see above. i have a background in dealing with these vendors and their systems. if the system is overloaded, the cache will pile up and so tickets part of timed out transactions will just sit there unclaimed until they return to available
  17. This is what is happening: 1. People add tickets to cart 2. try to process payment 3. times out. 4. tickets stay in cart in back end system, but the customer's cart refreshes. 5. caching will refresh every 20 minutes and the tickets become available again. 99% most of you will get tickets eventually.
  18. Tough one. Suggest vendor received the payment but the tickets may not have been allocated to the purchase. Would recommend doing it again and then requesting a refund.
  19. Gees AFL Members tomorrow is gonna be a shambles.
  20. 200,000+ tickets all sold at once. Great thinking, 99!
  21. anyone know how much afl members guest passes are?
  22. I've spent my entire adult life working online. social media, web development, sales, you name it. I am absolutely CLUELESS when it comes to finals tickets. I have this weird concern I'm going to miss out. This must be what my parents feel like when their "wifi" stops working.
  23. We also cracked 40k average home attendance for the first time since 1964. Total crowd across H&A was down though. Also if you take away the NT games, our average Melbourne home game attendance was 48k.
  24. Not sure if someone else mentioned this but the crowd of 37k was the largest crowd against a non-Vic club (ex Sydney) since 2010 when there was 36k against Brisbane, and 2004 when 33k showed up against WC. Given the opposition support (or lack thereof), I would estimate about 36k Melbourne supporters came to the game. For reference, 30k showed up to the Pies v GWS game at the MCG earlier in the season. Amazing turnout. Does anyone know what the MCC was predicting before the game?
