Damien Barrett's scathing assessment of the MFC
You're taking what I said, fixating on particular components and coming to the worst possible conclusion. I don't have it as fact but have it on good authority. You sound like a gestapo lapdog. Do you work at the MFC? This is a forum of discussion, opinion, conjecture, debate, some rumours. I've not often been one to endulge in rumours but I'm hearing what I'm hearing. You seem so offended by certain comments and rumours that one can't help but think you work at the club. I pay $2000+ per year into the club's coffers. I am more than within my right to voice these concerns, even if they do come on the back of rumours. We finished 17th, binman. Open your eyes.

Damien Barrett's scathing assessment of the MFC
Martin was set to be out of contract and being offered millions to leave. Petracca is in contract and has his management giving the coaching team an ultimatum. Completely different.

EJ Whitten Legends Game 2019
as i feared. it used to be great because it was treated semi-seriously. now it's all a joke, scripted for the sake of it. and they've ruined it.

EJ Whitten Legends Game 2019
Am I mistaken or is this year's game like AFLX?

Damien Barrett's scathing assessment of the MFC
Either Barrett reads Demonland or we have heard the same things. And binman, a financial loss would be disastrous and an indictment on the viability of the club's current plans. Not all debt is bad but in our case adding to it raises serious questions if after a record breaking attendance year last year and membership this year we are still losing money. I'm really not keen on this ending badly binman. But all signs point to things going badly here and I keep saying it's the most important off-season of Goodwin's and many others' careers. We are on knife's edge atm. This I am 99% sure of. Why would I hype it up as being an important off season if not because I want to see them right the ship? Situations like this separate the professionals from the amateurs. Geelong 06. Collingwood 2017. Richmond 2016. All teams bounced back. It takes us years to turn things around and one pre season sees us finish 17th. I don't either but it's what I'm hearing. Not necessarily that he wants a trade but that there is more to the meeting. It is never a good sign if a player's manager is meeting with the club. You don't think it was an ultimatum? It 100% was. Goodwin's and co's response at that moment alone would have determined Trac's intentions.

Would our financial situation be as dire if not for the playing performance?

Damien Barrett's scathing assessment of the MFC
I believe Petracca's concerns has been what has prompted some heated exchanges between coaching team and the board. Essentially he is unhappy, and the board is pointing the finger at the coaching team. This all falls down to a disastrous pre-season. Goodwin and Co. have been the catalyst for this.

Damien Barrett's scathing assessment of the MFC
Up to three starting 22 players are set to demand trades. Club set to announce financial loss, debit to increase. Murmurs of a heated exchange between a powerful club exec and Goodwin following last week's match. Make no mistake, the Doom Loop is now full circle. Prepare yourselves. Once the finals end, it's all going to break open. Most important off-season in the club's history imo.

It's the wingmen, stupid!
Pert actually specifically mentioned the club identified a lack of space and skill on the wing and this is why they drafted KK. Now with Langdon as well it's clear it's on the club's conscious. It's also clear that Stretch, JKH are probably done at AFL level.

The calumny of the AFL's priority pick policy
Who cares. If someone said to me we'd end up with pick 3 in the draft I wouldn't have believed it. For every possible reason.

The Writing Was/Is on the Wall
If KPIs haven't been met in 4 of the 5 (finals was a pillar KPI dating back to 2015), and in the 5th year you're 17th, then the data tells us you've not actually been successful. The club has done a wonderful feel-good job of celebrating linear growth in the w:l column, but reality is that "more wins" hasn't actually been a pillar KPI since 2014, when finals were merely a stretch goal. Why people keep banging on about linear improvement in w:l is beyond me, it's not 2013 anymore and finals as a bare minimum should be the one and only gauge of a team's success. St Kilda won more games this year but I hardly doubt they're celebrating "linear growth". Some here have fallen hook line and sinker for the narrative out of the club this year, which I can only assume means few here work in the corporate space. It's PR jargon, reality is that 17th with 5 wins suggests failures, and that major changes need to be made. Macca no doubt had some positive influence but it's very clear that he, like a few others (perhaps including Goodwin) were a catalyst for our poor season. Throw in 2017 and well you've got a coaching team that hasn't quite succeeded, gotten close but ultimately may be time to step aside. So yeah, the data is actually quite clear in that it didn't work.

MFC Mission Statement???
wrong. mission statements may be "wanky" but a clear one has buy-in, is easy to understand, and is inspiring.

The Writing Was/Is on the Wall
It just snowalled rj. I was one of the optimistic bridgade after round 1. Despite being highly critical of Goodwin since round 23 2017. I suspected thant our worst was still fridge top 8. How wrong I was. The Saints game ruined my birthday in April, Goodwin was badly outcoached by a bloke that has since been sacked. And is now reporting to Goodwin! Goodwin now has a Mt Everest mountain to climb, much bigger than what Bomber in 2006 or Hardwick in 2016 had to climb. He'll either come out of it as one of the best coaches in the game, or he'll be unemployed. There is no middle ground unfortunately. That's how extreme a turnaround we need.

Biggest % Drop Across 2 Seasons
It's not a percentage drop though. They're looking at a whole number drop, which isn't an accurate reflection. Our percentage fell -40% year-on-year.
