Brisbane average 10 (!) more inside 50s a game than us. At a 46% conversion that's approx 4 goals which is about the difference purely on a averages front. We absolutely need to force and win the stoppage clearance as much as possible and slow their entries forward. Force their shots to the pockets. If we have any chance at all then Pickett, Petty and Fritsch need to kick at least 6 goals between them. Assuming the likes of Rivers, Gawn, JVR, Chandler, ANB, Sparrow and Viney can each hit the scoreboard at some point. If we can kick 12+ goals against keep them to <40% inside-50 conversion we win. We can beat this mob.

I remember earlier in the season when we played Hawthorn, saying to my Hawks mate that I'd never seen a team try so hard and be so bad. It is not surprising they are playing the way they are playing. They are hungry. North is too. They believe in what they are doing. Part of the problem is just that; we have the talent but we are playing poorly. But we aren't just playing poorly. We badly lack connection and synergy. There is no connection. We don't make many errors because we don't win many "moments". North won all of the "moments" tonight and should have won. Even with Lever and Petracca out, I expect us to struggle but we are playing with no identity and have since the Geelong win. There is no excitement or energy in what we do. It's just process and that's it. I know it's cliche but they're not playing for each other atm.

there wasn't. they were just spirited and going for the kill. reminded me of when we beat Hawthorn in 2016. They were top of the ladder, coming off 3 flags, won like 10 games in a row up to that game, and we steamrolled them in the last. Sounded like we had 90k there that day.

I am gobsmacked by that. Scoreless in the last quarter. Holding the ball whenever we had it on the wing and letting them flood. We have zero confidence. Zero synergy. No structure. We are poorly coached and playing like huge plodders. We are bottom 4 the way we are playing.
